Are you... someone important to me? [That would explain the familiarity, his reactions to your pain... but the thought that he could have simply forgotten someone who means a lot to him (and to whom he would mean just as much, evidently) is terrifying. He tries to force himself, to think of whether he has seen this person or not, whether he has any recollection of him at all-- but as soon as he does that, the splitting headache from before is back and he's doubling over, clutching his head in pain.]

[He hesitates, and though his instinct is still to sit beside Subaru, to be close to him, he stays standing at first, trying to regain some composure of himself. But while he's considering how much to say about who he is, Subaru's headache becomes evident... everything in his mind goes out the window then. He moves quickly, no hesitation, to touch his shoulder, concern replacing hurt.]

You're... my brother? [He says the word as though not quite believing it himself, his voice nearly breaking from all the conflicting emotions that are whirling through his mind.]

But I, I don't... my family... [The more he speaks, the more obvious that certain sense of lost is in him-- he can't remember anything, unsure of whether there has ever been a family, whether the blankness of his memories isn't just that there has never been anything to remember.]

No... I didn't know I was supposed to be looking for anything. [It's clear from his tone that this upsets him-- if he had known, if he had realised... he might have already found some of those memories, he might have been able to remember you, and avoid hurting you like this.]

Mm... [He remembers only that there seemed to be some people who didn't realise they had forgotten things, but because he didn't-- doesn't-- know these people, he can't say for sure.]

I guess it makes sense. If you don't remember you've forgotten, you don't know there's anything to be searched...
