Find the Horcruxes (ooc)

So! Over the last little while, Kate and I have been compiling a guide to Pureblood Society (in addition to our ridiculous family tree on Geni) that covers everything from canon family names and history, to the differences between the types of parties that society wizards and witches attend, and an in-depth explanation of cotillion (among many other things). It is not yet done, but as we are additionally building an accompaniment to it that requires participation--and some creativity!--from the kids with pureblood characters, I have gained Brandi's modly seal of approval in moving full steam ahead and getting you guys involved! Yay! :D It's called the FTH Pureblood Family Guide.

Okay, guys. To get into the ball, you must be in costume and you must be wearing a mask.

YES, even those who are there on official business (the Aurors & Hitwizards, primarily) will need to be in costume. YES, the DEs need costumes, as they will be at the ball before changing into their Robes And Masks Of Eating Death. And yes, you want your DEs to be at the ball -- it's a perfect excuse to get patched up at St. Mungo's after the fact: you were an innocent bystander at the ball when you were ATTACKED by those HORRIBLE TERRORISTS.

HOWEVER. Aurors & Hitwizards (including trainees) will be wearing these masks. They already know that their masks will be provided. Nobody knows what they look like yet, and nobody will know until they show up at the ballroom and are given their mask.


SO! Are your characters going to the ball? What do their costumes look like? This is both so that nobody repeats (yes, that might happen in real life, BUT THIS ISN'T REAL LIFE), and also so that we can figure out who won the various costume contests! Yay!

The Quidditch scores for this week have been updated! A few things of note for matches: Kamal Nehru was put in for Puddlemere - he scored 3 of the teams 7 goals, the other 2 chasers had 2 a piece. On the Harpies match, despite having lost, Nora Alderton had a Good Day scoring five of the nine goals scored by the Harpies.

Okay, so this afternoon the Order of the Phoenix was going to the The Black Castle for a practice session followed by a Quidditch match.

Today at about 1:30 pm, there was an explosion at the cauldron shoppe on Diagon Alley. There are no serious injuries, though a couple of shop assistants are taken to St. Mungo's for mildly moderate injuries sustained in the explosion.

Hitwizards investigate, but preliminary reports show it to be just an accident. There'll be an article in the prophet tomorrow, but since it's a Sunday afternoon, people might be out and about in Diagon and witness the explosion.

All right - so I know a lot of people were coming on Saturday to the Nott's to do duelling stuff. If you were, go ahead and feel free to talk about what happened in the comments.

Basically when your character arrived, they'd have been directed to the side yard here by Nott family house elves. This was a business time, so they would have been paired off, if Patrice had not done so already, and then given thirty minutes or so to duel with that person. Patrice, and possibly any other IC DEs that happened to be there, would have circulated among the attendees and given advice, pointers, and instruction in the Dark Arts, particularly unforgivables and other spells along those lines. After thirty minutes they would have probably all just circulated to the right, or something like that, so depending on how many people were actually there your character would have probably interacted with most of the other characters there.

So, basically below maybe say if you were there today, if there were any spells or items your character struggled with, and feel free to work out which character won duels in a pairing or whatever.

Oh, and at about the halfway point basil water would have been provided for the guests, but nothing fancier. Patrice was all business today >:]

Alright. This only resulted in confusion last time, and I've been meaning to do it all over again to reduce confusion, so!

Take two!

This is half-meme, half-reference. Because obviously it's important to know what the Order members' patroni are, since that's how they communicate. It's also good to know if other people are capable of producing a patronus.

SO!

Comment with what your character's patronus is, or what it would be if they were capable of a corporeal patronus. And just as importantly: say whether they are capable of a corporeal patronus. If you're really into animal symbolism, there is a good list of that kind of stuff here. Don't worry about doubling up on animals, especially among the meme half. Everyone's patronus would have some kind of identifying marks to show that it's their's.

You don't have to comment if you don't want to participate in the meme half, but if your character CAN produce a corporeal patronus (or even if they can't but are in the Order, because someone should be working on that with them), please do comment. :)

Hey y'all! Did a little work on Quidditch last night. Here's Quidditch standings as they currently are (very subject to change!) and the schedule for September.

FTH Quidditch Standings and Schedule

Typically Quidditch matches take place on Saturday and Sunday, and given how long they can go they usually begin at 2 p.m. The occasional weeknight matches are always in the evening, though - usually at 7 p.m.

Scores will be posted as games occur, and if you need a particular outcome for plot purposes, please let me know. Same goes for a particular match-up on the pitch. I have no personal stake in any of these matches, so I am more than willing to shuffle things around to accommodate people's plot needs. Pro Quidditch and DMSG character players, if you need me to change anything in the standings for right now I can do that, too - just drop me a line via email or IM sometime today.

So...yeah! There you have it! Quidditch.

Okay guys, I did a bad job explaining the Specials section of the Spreadsheet. Therefore, a clarification:

The "Specials" section is for one, at MOST two, battle-specific quirks that are not necessarily easy common knowledge about your character. The spreadsheet as a whole is intended to be a quick-reference, and we don't want anything to slow it down.

Things which should not go in that section of the spreadsheet:
- your character's profession or training (because we already know)
- quirks that have nothing to do with battle (unless your character has no battle quirks and you're being funny)
- anything intended to justify your numbers (explanations of your character's fitness habits or history or whatever) that takes more than one or two words. We believe you, and it's in your character's profile. Let the numbers speak for themselves, and if anyone questions it, then you can explain them.
- personality traits that are not offense/defense/running away-specific and do not need to be easily referenced at a glance by a person you are going to be doing a battle log with.
- anything intended to make sure everyone knows your character is still cool even though they're not good in a fight. We already know that, and it's not relevant to fighting, which is what the spreadsheet is for.
- explanations of your character's future plans. You will have opportunities to alter numbers later to reflect changes in your character as they get injured, train more, etc.
- more than 5 words*.


Mostly, remember that this chart does not decide whether you win or lose a fight. It's just there to give everyone an idea of how various skills match up. That's all. Don't stress so much.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if you could let me know if your character(s) went to the Burrow after the battle today? - either to be treated in a non-record keeping place (aka not-Mungo's), to help heal, or to just rendezvous and check in. Molly & Arthur will have extra bedrooms and cots set up if anyone needs. Molly's got food, medical supplies, and is running around helping to get anyone everything they need and help with any sort of healing she can manage to do. In general being a busybody and fussing over everyone. The kids are at Aunt Muriel's so no worries about little tykes going *point* "You were covered in red and at my house yesterday!" later on.

I know we're not even recovered from the GINORMOUS BATTLE yet, but I need some help!

As you probably saw, Sturgis made a post a few days ago asking for names of people suspected of being Death Eaters. While he can't make any official inquiries, he's definitely going to be running background checks, conducting a few stray interviews, and making his way to Knockturn in order to find out more about the people whose names were brought up. All the information that he learns he'll include in a large, detailed report that he plans on presenting to the Order in a couple of weeks.

So this is where YOU come in. I'm going to check on every person name-dropped in that entry, seeing their history, N.E.W.T.s, basic family stuff. Sturgis, however, has a great deal of sources. So anything you want him to uncover about your character that might not be common knowledge (ie, if their grades dropped after a year, if their teachers were concerned about fixation on the Restricted Section, if they've ever been arrested/investigated before, if they're a regular buying shifty things at Knockturn, etc), I'd like to get a note of it! You can give me as much or as little as you want. If I don't get anything from you, I'll have him not find out much.

Have as much fun with this as you want! Were your characters ever arrested for flying too quickly on their brooms? Were they involved in fights at school? Was one of their parents a supporter of Death Eaters? Does crazy run in their family? Have they ever sassed a cop? Any suspect deposits in their bank account? BRING IT ON!

Okay, so. According to the calendar, Seph and Rabbit (with the assistance of such NPCs as elder!Mulciber, Karkaroff, Rookwood, and Alexander) had an attack today.

Since Liz and I haven't gotten a chance to log it out yet, it'll end up being backdated, but since this is definitely an attack that'll be inciting gossip, here's how it goes down:

This afternoon, while St. Mungo's Chief of Staff Gianna Harris was at work, her halfblooded husband Ian Harris (a magical historian who primarily works from their home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England) disappeared. The house looked entirely untouched, he just ... wasn't home when Gianna returned home from the hospital late tonight. Likely, when Gianna gets home (late tonight), she'll call the DMLE in to come investigate.

*sing-song-y* He's not dead~ he's just not there~

So we were thinking, and we decided that the Cast Details page could use a revamp. Or at least that the men's half could.
