Who: Misaki and Maeko
When: After the whole discovery of S!Tom
Where: Dorm room
What: Talk about the party and what happened after
Why: Because we're evil I tell you...

Misaki was sitting on the bed and sighed as she read what happened at the party after her little vanishing act with Keiichi. She felt bad about what had happened earlier in the evening and knew that Maeko was going to probably have something to say about it. She was mentally prepared for anything.

Her body was still sore, and she had to wonder if her clothing still had a smell from...No she wouldn't dare to think like that. Maeko would probably freak out if she knew.

Maeko was, as she usually was when she wasn't at school, at work or asleep, at her desk. Poking the maths problem with her pen to see if it would give up and go away. Just because there was a shadow around and term was nearly over was no excuse to slack off on her school work.

She was wearing earbuds but the album had stopped playing about ten minutes ago and she hadn't noticed, too caught up in why on earth would they use letters for numbers anyway. But because her music had stopped, she heard Misaki's sigh and kicked the side of the desk to spin the chair around and turn toward her (spinny charis were still a huge novelty).

"You okay?"

Misaki shrugged some and looked over at her, "I...Maeko-chan. I'm worried. I mean if this shadow of Tom-sempai is running around, what if it...did something to Kozue-chan. Look at what Sagaki-san knows. His shadow...probably knows the same things right?"

She rubbed her arm suprised that Maeko didn't mention anything about what had transpired between her and Kanaye.

It hadn't really crossed Maeko's mind that that was worth talking about.

"Kondo's..." She had wanted to say 'smart' but it didn't seem like the word. "I don't think she's the type not to mention it if he did anything other than talk to her. I'm sure she's fine."

Misaki nodded slowly and smiled some, "Oh well that's good to know."

She paused hesitantly and fidgeted some. "So, how was the rest of the party? I mean, Sagaki-san aside. I...I didn't stay much after well..." Misaki rubbed her fingers. "So how was Kanaye sempai? I hope he didn't get any worse then he was..."

"Oh, was it too loud for you?" Maeko asked. She was a little surprised about that if it was true. Out of the two she was really the more sensitive to sound and it hadn't been nearly at loud as she had been worried it might be.

"Worse than he was?" Maeko asked, turning the chair slowly from side to side.

"Ah...well a bit. I just...I just wasn't comfortable. It was...I don't know. I would have been better at some sort of small place. With friends, I would have thought Kozue-chan would have wanted that. And then she was asking me why I wasn't drinking and things about me being a virgin," Misaki explained. The younger girl shrugged.

"So...I mean him being drunk and all." She blushed deeply. "I know I shouldn't have bothered you two if you were really going to make out with him. I just..." she paused and rubbed her hands into her skirt. "I just got ahead of myself."

"I dunno. Sagaki-senpai's outburst aside, I think Kondo-san was enjoying herself. She seems to enjoy being in larger places and surrounded by people."

"We weren't going to. Even drunk, he wouldn't do anything I wasn't okay with." Maeko continued to spin her chair from side to side absentmindedly as she spoke. "You don't need to worry about me."

She'd decided to pretend the arguing last night hadn't happenned.

Misaki just stared at her and gasped, "Wait...you think...you think he's joking?! Maeko-chan, he's not! He's most definately not joking! Yes Sempai jokes a lot, but when it comes to this...Maeko-chan! He's in love with you! He adores you, he worships the ground you walk on!" She narrowed her eyes, "Do you know why I look like this...you think..." Misaki turned around and pullled out the contacts that she wore to give her eyes the blue color, showing light brown eyes under them. "There! See...fake eyes Maeko chan...fake hair color, fake eye color, fake fake fake!" She narrowed her gaze some. "You don't understand. He loves you. He adores you. This isn't a game to him Maeko-chan. He's terrified that you're going to leave him. You are not plain! You're beautiful. I don't know why you have it in your head that you are! And I make that food...I make it because I like to make it. I like making people have something that makes them happy even if it's just something that they can eat."

She looked down some, "You have a beautiful smile, you have a graceful walk, you have a great laugh...what more can I say. You're just...you're amazing. I always thought so. And you have to think so too. You deserve someone that can love you properly. That's...that's what I keep trying to tell him. He should treat you like a princess. Not try to kiss you and make out with you all the damn time."

"I'm not going to change a subject because I don't think it's right to just drop something I feel needs to be talked about. Then I'll stop saying that, but that doesn't mean that he's a terrible person like everyone keeps saying he is. Okay, yes I agree with you that Shirai san went over the line there, but...there's a good side to him too. Really, I'm not making that up Maeko-chan!" Misaki said, "Okay so maybe I'm being a bit selfish at times, I admit that I'm wrong. But you do the same thing. You insist on changing subjects when we talk about something that gets you upset instead of being honest about it and saying why you're upset. You're aloud to get mad and shout and cry and throw a tantrum if you get upset! It's allowed Maeko-chan, and I wish you would! I really wish you would."

"He's not like that! Kozue-chan was the one suggesting that I do that with him. He was willing to let me wait. The whole time he kept asking me if it was okay and telling me we could stop. Kozue-chan was his first time! He hasn't....he's not....Sempai also told me I was going to have to eventually so I did okay! Do I regret it, no, do I wish that I waited a bit longer, yes, but...I honestly wished that it was someone else okay!" Misaki told her and blinked hard again. "And the reason I asked was becauase it seemed like at the party you could have cared less that I was there or not! You were so busy with him that you didn't even come to look for me!"

Misaki winced and started to tremble some, tears threatening to come loose. "Damn it. Why do I have to be such a cry baby! I didn't ask because it's something that shouldn't come as a suprise to you after five years! You KNOW that my family doesn't just hug me and such! So can you blame me for wanting to be held by someone that I love? "

Misaki blushed and wiped her cheeks.

"I don't see why else he would..." Maeko trailed off, shook her head and decided to end that line of thought. "It' not like it matters. If it's not a joke I'm not going to leave him anyway. You shouldn't take them out without looking in a mirror and washing your hands first, you'll infect your eyes."

"Changing subjects helps. Crying and throwing tantrums doesn't achieve anything." She nodded to herself at this. People didn't listen anyway. Expressing a problem without doing anything about it was a useless activity. "I didn't go look for you because when I went to go find you you were aleady with- wait...you wished it was someone else?"

"I don't blame you for it but it's not something that's obvious either. You have Ito-san now, I didn't think you'd need me."

"Becuase you're a wonderful amazing person that's why! And anyone with half a brain can see that! If they can't then they are well just silly and shouldn't be allowed to be with someone as wonderful as you!" Misaki told her and blinked, "It does matter, if you love him, really do, then you should tell him that. But don't force yourself to love him."

"But it lets you get out frustration. You don't want to keep thinkining like that! You should tell people what you feel. Cry scream rant! It helps!" Misaki cried out. "yes! I did...okay..." She looked down some. "A part of me was insanely happy but a part of me wished...it wasn't...that it was..."

"Of course I need you! Don't you get it!" Misaki grabbed her by the sholders and looked down at her feet as she talked, scared of the reaction Maeko would have. "I love Keiikun...but I love you too Maeko chan."

"I have told him that. You were there." Maeko had resumed spinning from side to side as she spoke.

"It causes more problems without solving any-"

Even if Misaki hadn't grabbed her shoulders she would have stopped spinning.

"...um." She eventually managed. How WAS she supposed to respond to that?

Misaki looked down and took a breath, "That's why I've been so jealous alright. I...I don't know why, and I can only speculate as to when, but...I have...feelings for you Maeko-chan."

She swallowed some, "I love Keiichi too, that's the problem. I know I shouldn't, that...that you're my best friend. That we're supposed to care about each other but...I think I care more then I should."

"Well how can I expect you to do anything about it if I don't know what you're feeling! Someone just told you that they loved you and you're like 'oh that's nice okay...so what'" Misaki sighed. "Do you know how that feels? I didn't say I don't expect you to do anything, but I know you won't because you'll just want to pretend it didn't happen because that's the typical standard Maeko reaction to things. Ignore anything bad and then just pretend it will go away."

Misaki whirled on her, "Don't cry...Don't cry...oh yes don't cry when things hurt and bother you! Why the hell shouldn't I cry when I'm upset rather then just bottling it up and acting like nothings wrong? Maybe I should take Kozue-chan's advice and just run out and sleep around, apparntly that makes things feel better, or better yet get drunk to forget."

"Well I don't know what I'm expected to do! Nobody ever told me!" Maeko snapped. It was bad enough When Kanaye had confessed. At least then she'd had some idea what was expected of her. "I'm not pretending anything will go away, I'm leaving it until I'm capable of dealing with it. It's more efficient that way."

"Because crying achieves nothing! It's a useless thing to do! It wastes time and lets others see weakness."

"Well what do you want to do?! That's the point! No one should have to tell you what to do, it's up to you to decide what you feel like doing. If you feel like doing nothing, fine, but it's silly to do nothing because it'll just sit there till something is done. Or if you wait too long that chance that you might want might slip away from you." Misaki told her softly.

Misaki stared at her for a minute and sighed, "Isn't it sort of the point though that you can cry with someone that you love? To show them your weaknesses. It puts you in a vunrable spot where you have to trust the other person. It's not useless it helps you feel better. When you cry it can help someone come and help you when you feel sad or scared, or alone...it helps though Maeko-chan."

It doesn't mean that I don't care, it means that I recognise that I am not responsible for your choices and if you want to make mistakes you are permitted to make them"

"But Maeko-chan, would you really want me messing up my body? I mean, wouldn't it be wiser to tell me not to do it? Not only would it help me in the long run, but wouldn't it be better for you too? Yes but to permit me to make a misake that would kill me. Okay how about I decieded I liked train jumping! You know jumping onto a moving train. Wouldn't you stop me from doing that?" Misaki wanted to face palm but kept herself from doing it.

She smiled, "Yes, but didn't you just say that if I'm going to make choices and mistakes I'm going to be permitted to make them. Thus..." Misaki rubbed her head. It WAS like arguing with her mother only it was worse. "You were here, yes, but by the time I went all the way down there to get the ladder and dragged it all the way back here, it would have been easier to just do what I was doing. To add to things, you were doing your homework, so why should I expect you to get up and help me do that?"

"It's your body to mess up. If you regretted it then I'd help you stop. But while it's what you want to do then I'm not going to stop you and if it's your choice . It's self-rightious and egotistical to assume you know what's best for someone else." Maeko held the bridge of her nose. "And comapring drinking to jumping onto moving trains is too rediculous to even respond to."

"What on earth are you talking about? That wasn't about a choice at all, that was about letting you know where the ladder was and letting you know it was an option."
