Entry tags:maeko, misaki

Who: Misaki and Maeko
When: After the whole discovery of S!Tom
Where: Dorm room
What: Talk about the party and what happened after
Why: Because we're evil I tell you...

Misaki was sitting on the bed and sighed as she read what happened at the party after her little vanishing act with Keiichi. She felt bad about what had happened earlier in the evening and knew that Maeko was going to probably have something to say about it. She was mentally prepared for anything.

Her body was still sore, and she had to wonder if her clothing still had a smell from...No she wouldn't dare to think like that. Maeko would probably freak out if she knew.

"Okay them. Well I don't feel like doing anything. So I'm not going to."

"No, it just places an unfair burden on those around you to fix your problems for you because you can't do it yourself. And it doesn't work that way when people can't hear you."

"Fine then, don't." Misaki said softly before she crawled into her bed and pulled up the covers.

"It's not being unfair, I'm not asking anyone to fix my problems, I just want someone to listen and it makes me feel better to cry, it tires me out so that I can think!" She hugged the covers tightly to herself.

"I didn't intend to." Maeko said, spinning around to face the desk again. Maths problems were far less troubling than Misaki was.

"You are being unfair. It's unfair to demand the truth and then burst into tears whenever you hear something you didn't want to."

"Then what do you want me to do. Sit there like you and take it without reacting. Oh yes that's a brilliant way to run a life." Misaki snapped back and pulled the covers over her head. "And It's unfair of you to expect other people to understand you when you won't give them the chance to even see any side of you other then the one you want to show."

"I want you to stop demanding I do things and then making me into the antagonist by bursting into tears when I do. If you're not going to stop whining I'll continue taking measures not to make you cry."

"I've never expected anyone to do anything for me, least of all someting as useless as understanding."

"I am not whineing!" she pouted and curled up tighter. "What's wrong with wanting you to love me back huh? I know I can't have it alright."

"That's just silly!" Misaki sat up. "It's not useless to understand how a person is feeling. It helps them feel comforted that at least there's someone there that gets what I'm feeling and that, no they can't...Nayuki-sempai said something to me...what was it...His best friend said it to him when he was feeling unsure what to do."

"The thing they're wring with ti is that you're cheating on your boyfriend." Maeko pointed out, finally coming up with an answer for the value of x. "Anyway, you know that wasn't what we were discussing! Don't accuse me of chnging the subject and then do it yourself!"

"Subjective. How I feel is my own business. Just because you think it's good does not mean it's good for me and it certainly does not mean I expect it. I still want to know where on eartch you got that idea."

Misaki sighed, there was just no point in discussing it any farhter. She pulled the covers over her head and shrugged some.

"Sorry I brought it up okay. I'll never ask you to think about anything again. Do what you want, I don't care. I'm sorry alright."

"Don't say something if you're unwilling to explain it." Maeko said, turning her attention to the next problem.

Misaki rolled over and stared at her, "You want to know why? Okay fine I'll tell you why I want to understand you better. Becuase it's very hard to know about your best friend and feel close and special when you can't know all the sides of her. Both the good and the bad. You put on a front around me some of the time, and I know it's a front, since you put up the same sort of thing around Sempai. So how does that make me feel? It makes me feel like garbadge. It's like I'm a puppy of some sort...you know how pets are. They like to comfort someone when they feel upset. They get to see parts of people that others can't, or won't, show."

Misaki looked up at the ceiling and sighed, "I want to be that puppy okay. And we need to put some decorations up on this ceiling it's really really bland."

"If I put up the same thing around Satou-senpai then why are you so sure it's not real?"

She listenned as she continued to struggle with the maths handout.

"You're nowhere near cute enough to be a puppy." She said, deciding to joke instead of continuing the conversation. She looked up at the ceiling, not personally seeing what the problem was with it.

"...I guess."

"Because that means you're just tolerateing him, and I know there are things that if I did that you would get annoyed with me about. Like getting drunk like that and then slipping around." Misaki said pointedly.

"I guess that's why Shirai-san calls me a rabbit then," Misaki closed her eyes and sighed. "Maybe I should start wearing rabbit ears and a cotton tail or something."

"It's...just...really old looking...no life to it." Misaki said gettting up and grabbing some extra fabric. She pulled out her chair, stacked a few books on it, took the fabric and started to tack it to the ceiling in a way that the draping would look like cloud bursts.

"Eh, think what you like." Maeko said, managing to catch her mistake of getting radius and diameter confused before she actually finished the working for once. Victoly over maths!

"It's a ceiling. You don't really look at it anywhat are you doing? That's dangerous, you'll fall!"

"I just think it's a bad idea to just let him get that drunk. I mean honestly, what if he started to throw up on you? Or do something like strip," Misaki commented and balanced carefully.

"So, I look at it when I'm in here and it looks dull. What do you mean, what am I doing. We don't have a ladder...so...whoa!" Misaki said holding the fabric when the chair slipped out from under her and she landed with a hard thud on her butt and back, wincing with pain.

"Ow...ow...ow..." She looked at the fabric and sighed. "Well at least it's up now. Owie."

"Then I'd leave and come back home until he wasn't drunk anymore." Maeko said, shrugging.

"I told you so." She said, feeling justified in her 'I-told-you-so'ing because, well, she HAD. "Are you okay?"

"But that doesn't solve the problem at all because when you're gone he gets worse," Misaki explained and sighed.

"No..It hurts," She pouted some and sighed. "Owie. Well at least it looks more cheerful."

"It's not my problem to solve." Maeko said, shrugging. It wasn't like that usually stopped her.

She finally finished the handout and checked her watch. 4 minutes, 38 seconds longer than last night. Which seemed good enough to be an improvement given the conversation that had been hapenning at the same time. Still, she noted it down in her diary as 'poor'.

"If it's serious I can call a doctor. Otherwise just stop climbing on chairs."

"But what if he gets hurt or something? Even if it's not your problem he is your boyfriend, a part of being in a relationship is working on problems together. If not then you're not being a good girlfriend at all to him." Misaki explained and held out her hand.

"Can I at least get a hand up?"

"If he's hurt I'll go back for him and deal with that problem when it happens." Maeko said. "If he wants to drink I shouldn't stop him. Just because we're dating doesn't mean I'm responsible for his choices any more than he's responsible for mine."

He grabbed Misaki's hand and pulled. "There's a ladder in the storage cupboard down the hall for changing lightbulbs. Use that next time."

Misaki looked down and shook her head, "That's not how things should work Maeko-chan. You should want to help the person."

She hugged onto her for a long while and sighed. "It's too short to reach the ceiling. I've tried it before when you were out."

"I do want to help him. But helping someone and stopping them from doing what they want are compltely different things." Unsaid: This was the compromise she had reached between wanting and acting like the witch had. Letting people be responsible for thier own choices unless they actually asked her otherwise.

"...It shouldn't be if you can use it to change lightbulbs."
