"Yes... that's it, that's got to be it." Giles left the book open on his desk and hurried into the library. He made a beeline for one of the unpacked boxes that Richard had brought with him (the bastard) and dug through it until he'd found the Mal Dolor de Aesclepius. "I should've thought of this weeks ago." He flipped through the index, finger dragging along the page until he found the entry he was looking for.

He turned and read the entry again, double-checking to make sure that he'd found exactly what he'd been looking for, and then snapped the book shut with renewed enthusiasm. Back in his office, he sat and scrawled out several pages of translations, checking the Mal Dolor every once in a while for accuracy, and as soon as he was done, he smiled.

He picked up the phone in the next instant, then hung it up before he made a phone call. That blasted intercom was still hooked up and he turned to it, poking buttons until he heard it click on. Damned thing, why couldn't it work on magic like any self-respecting voice-amplification system? "Um, yes, please attention, if anyone has seen Faith, or Willow, please send them to the library, thank you." He poked more buttons until it turned off, and then started looking through his drawers, pulling out several sets of dried herbs.

Giles had slipped out as soon as he could to change his clothes. Out of the tuxedo--he'd felt he owed the formality to the occasion--but once he was done, he changed to something much more casual, and returned to the party as quickly as he could. The first place he went was the punch bowl, and he ladled himself out a goodly sized glass and installed himself in the corner to watch the goings on.

Um, I know I'm new to this whole Slayer gig, but has anyone else had some really creepy dreams lately? As in like, a shack walking around on chicken legs? Or people dancing around a fire? There's also sometimes blood, and what looks like really sharp animal teeth taking chomps out of bloody chunks of flesh.

Possibly it's a hint to be laying off the zombie movies before bedtime, but they got real vivid this week. And they're... relatively unpleasant, to say the least.

Entente was decked out for the holiday, from the laser strobe lights throwing creepy shapes onto the dancing masses to the occasional re-play of "Monster Mash" to the orange and green drinks being dished out by the bartenders.

Arrangements for the party had already been made in advance, and while it was understood that no one under eighteen could enter the club at all, those under twenty-one were identified with garish purple ID bracelets so that the bartenders would know not to serve them alcohol.

Most of the Slayers had met at the old Wolfram and Hart building beforehand, where they had gotten a nice, boring lecture from Giles about behaving and remembering their strengths and not getting in fights, all of the things that every Watcher lectures their Slayer about.

But it was Halloween, all the supernatural creepy-crawlies were snug in their sewers, the one night of the year that they stayed home and gave the Slayers, the Scoobies, and the Fang Gang a chance to celebrate. Some of the girls were in costume, some weren't. Inside the club, some of the young adults were in costume, and all the servers were. There were bunnies and devils, nurses, doctors, firemen, every naughty Disney Princess you could imagine, and a hundred other costumes as the sun finally dropped that Halloween night and the party got started in earnest.
