Where in Merlin's name did all these feathers come from?? Fuck! Did I lay on a chicken??? Am I halucinating??

I am not impressed with the new batch of third years so far. I certainly was not as uninformed at that age. One would think they never heard of a rune, never mind never seen one. It will be a tedious slog just introducing them to the shapes of the letters before we can even start working on the basic meanings. I see no hope that they will ever progress to the nuances of the study before they reach OWLs. At least it seems that the fourth years have learned something, but then, it seems to me that they have the history and base knowledge in order to grasp Runes in a way certain students never will.

I've been trying to use a disease spread model to fit the reported cases of feathering, but its clear that there are too many violations of the model assumptions to be of any predictive use. Most clearly is that although there is a geographical element, it lacks that diffusive spread of a disease transmission. I knew it of course it wasn't spread among individuals, but had hoped that there was still away to recreate the epidemic since there is a spacial element. Even including a time lag wouldn't help since it could have been triggered to go off at a certain time like a bomb. Actually that might prove to be a more compelling statistical approach to the issue. I'll have to try that next.

I am so fucking tired. I'm too aware of my fingernails. I'm not sure I'm a person. Someone come punch me in the face until I pass out. I'm not sure I'd feel it. If I start laughing ignore it, it's just the hallucinations.
