Delos ran his hand over the charred remains of the tree. It was one of the many that they had been practicing on, they being the other Wild Powers. Progress had been going well enough. Jez had been formidable but he expected no less from another Redfern, even if she was half. He still had yet to see what the new guy was made of, but he didn’t keep his hopes up. Granted, he had had less of an opinion about Ilianna starting out, but she had been making very good progress. This new guy, however, looked even less of a fighter than she did, if that was even possible.

He was quietly mulling over the ways of instruction, how best to teach this Lucas how to hone his ability when he heard approaching footsteps behind him. He didn’t bother to look up. Once they got a little closer he would be able to pick up their scent, or if they were so inclined, they could even speak. Instead he just continued his inspection of his handiwork while tossing a greeting over his shoulder.
