Alchemy

Activity check for August is now closed. Overall, it was a decent check but several failed to respond at all or meet the minimum requirements. For future reference;

Activity is either a thread, a text log, a phone call etc with five or more consecutive comments with 1 or more other RP partners.

Please check your threads carefully. Many of you linked incomplete threads that would not pass activity check, though we knew you had other threads that did meet check. Take your time when posting and make sure the threads you link are the right ones, and will pass check.

Also when linking your threads - please link to YOUR threads. There were multiple threads with mass-texts and we had to go searching for your specific set of replies. When it was a journal entry, mass text, etc, please link just YOUR responses. You can do this by finding the first response in your set, hitting "thread" and adding the link that follows. Lastly, when you post a completed log (like from a gdoc) please make some sort of indication of who-posted-what. Either by adding line breaks or by adding a bold or whatever, it makes it easier to read and see who did what!

Final Note*

While not an official rule, make sure you take the time to RP with everyone you can! We like to see people reaching out and playing with more than just one other person. Time zones and schedules can make this difficult, but we appreciate just seeing the effort to expand your RP horizons and play with new people!!

There is one among you who has gone above and beyond the call of duty for alchemy (which, of course, the Point System verifies). They have shown great dedication and initiative even when Team Mod have not begged and pleaded with them to do so. Clearly this game with our thirty members strong and growing needs extra help and therefore Team Mod has come to a rightful decision. James Awesome, lord of Conjuration, step forward and accept the Oath of Alchemical Mods and repeat after the Council.

I, James Awesome, lord and master of all conjurers, promise to aid and abed Alchemy with all that I can offer. I promise to stay up until the wee hours of the night if necessary to complete any task that is bestowed upon my body. I promise to also reprimand Key five times a day if he should be mean to Mod Ronnie. I will provide snarky British humor and pomp to my summaries and refuse to hold back my sarcasm. If I do not perform these tasks to my full ability, I will throw myself at the mercy of the Ancients and pray that I die swiftly. And if the Ancients should ask me anything, I will happily do as they ask even if it means I have to sell my very soul.

With the Oath once repeated and accepted, the Ancients now pronounce James Awesome, Mod of Alchemy forevermore!

Arcane Protectors

THE CONCLAVE. A highly fortified headquarters, the Conclave is home to the Order of Arcane Protectors. The Protectors are warriors that used to work side by side with the Arcanists, though they now work alone in the fight against the Shadowkind. The Conclave serves as a training base for warriors to begin their training, and when the students graduate at 20, they’re released on individual journeys. The headquarters used to house a council that consisted of eight top hunters, though over the years that number has fluctuated, due to five leaving to oppose the Arcanists. Once new recruits are born, they are gathered at a young age and brought to the Conclave in order to train for their part in the war. As the Protectors are recruited through bloodlines, typically one is not permitted to join unless they are descended from hunters. However, on rare occasions, and only in extreme circumstances, the Order has been known to take those into their ranks who've suffered a great loss, and only then if they were directly exposed to the Shadowkind or the Arcanists. Currently, the Conclave is empty, as a mysterious Shadowkind outbreak has split the hunters up. Jericho Hamilton, a previous graduate, returned just in time to save what lives he could, and is leading those Protectors he managed to rescue.

THE PROTECTORS. The Arcane Protectors are strong and sophisticated. Long ago, a mortal husband to an Abjurer sought training in martial arts and various other forms of ancient warfare. This behavior became a trend, and ultimately, mortal spouses began learning ways to level the battlefield against the supernatural forces that threatened their loved ones. They were the Protectors. Generation through generation, new recruits were brought in by the bloodlines, and trained to fight in the everyday skirmishes against the Shadowkind. Many do not have a connection to the Arcanists nowadays, though there are a select few who still retain that. On rare occasions, the Order accepted orphaned kids, if Shadowkind had killed their parents. New recruits train from the age of eight until they are twenty. Once they reach that age, and are deemed allowed to graduate, they will be given one of three assignments – assignment to one of the Arcanist families, to the ancient Azoth manor, or to field work. The assignments are not necessarily lifelong, particularly in the case of emergencies – the leaders make these assignments and decisions based on the expertise of the Protector at the time of their graduation.

THE LEADERS. In past years, the Order elected eight leaders, so as to reflect the eight families they served. These leaders worked in harmony for many years, until five of them began to see the Arcanists and their magic as evil and undeserving of their protection. They left, ransacking the Order and stealing many artifacts – one leader was killed in the breakout, and thus the Leopold Hunters gained their name. Those that were left with the Order had to quickly pull their organization together, and enforced both stricter training rules and upbringing in order to combat the twisted minds of the Leopolds. It took them time, but eventually they were able to regain their tight council of eight, working to fight against the Shadowkind. Prior to the start of the game, Evelyn Ward, Alison Byrne, Alistair Kerr, X Hamilton, and four others led the Order. When the Shadowkind attacked the Conclave, Alison Byrne had left our realm to fight the war, Evelyn Ward was attacked by the Leopolds, and X Hamilton was killed. Jericho, his son, returned just in time to save what lives he could, and to lead the survivors to Azoth Manor.

GRADUATION. Once a Protector reaches the age of 20, they are eligible to graduate. The ceremony is regarded as private and sacred by the Order, and new Protectors receive a special tattoo in a place of their choosing, so as to indicate their success over the years. Some Protectors receive a magical artifact to aid them in their battle against the Shadowkind after their graduation. Artifacts will be assigned once spots are filled.

OPENING. When the Arcanists left our realm to fight the Shadowkind, they left without warning. Only those Protectors with ties to the Arcanists knew, and they went with them. This left the Order without any kind of warning when the Shadowkind pushed into the Conclave and attacked. The Magistratus of the Arcanists, a Conjurer, left instructions for his son on what was to happen next. Cole Gray summoned the families to Azoth, also reaching out to the Order. He contacted Jericho Hamilton, who arrived to the Conclave and saved who he could, taking all survivors – no matter their post-graduation assignment – with them. Some Protectors under various assignments may be reassigned by Jericho to protect the families, even if they’d previously held a different assignment.

The day has come!!! It is opening day--go mad!
