Time Update: Anesus 1, 1715

Weather: This is a day when the outside Mages who help maintain the compound make an effort in controlling the weather, and those with the ability to can sense it. For the arrivals and departures, the sky is clear and, while the air is cold, it is not too cold. Once everyone has had time to reach the castle, the magical control is lifted and weather continues on its course. A wind picks up around dawn and temperatures drop a little, making it uncomfortable outside for anyone who is not a Vrykola.

12:00 AM
The Anesiel moon is high in a clear, chilly sky, shining blue and full over the Trivald compound. The few Anesiel Lykos in residence are locked in their rooms, unable to take out their full-moon frustrations on anything but their own belongings. In the Main Hall, the rest of the residents gather, listening as the clock rings out twelve times. For the senior residents, it is time to leave, some with smiles, some with tears, all with a touch of anxiety about what the outside world will hold for them now. Their time is over, goodbyes have been said, and they leave in order to reach the compound gates in time for the opening; their rooms left empty for the next round to come. For everyone else, it is a time of waiting. A flood of 18 year olds will be coming soon, along with the trials to follow.

12:30 AM
The clock sounds twice at the half hour. The occupants of the compound can return to their rooms. This is the one test they know, the one test they expect-- the young one's arrival. The compound gates are opened for just long enough to let the old out and the new in, at exactly half past the hour, then are closed for another year, leaving a group of newcomers to find their way to the castle and claim their rooms. Each carries their belongings with them to their new home, none certain what their future holds. The Anesiel tribe Lykos are harried and guided by the other tribes, to be either chased into the woods or locked up upon reaching the castle, so they don't cause any damage.

A Bad Beginning

Who: Tabrika and Desdemona
When: Anesus 1, shortly after midnight
Where: The gates to the compound

Half an hour more. That's all there was until Tabrika's freedom was gone for six whole years. She crouched, no longer in animal form, but in human form, since they'd be stuck in it for the rest of the night and everyone wanted to be in the form that worked best to communicate with people. That meant she'd had to get dressed, too, as some of those humans had been eying her darkly when she'd worn nothing but her skin and mane.

Beginnings are Beginnings, One Way or Another...

Who: Jacta and Tabrika
When: Anesus 1, shortly after midnight
Where: The gates to the compound

The full face of Anesiel cast a turquoise light upon the proceedings just outside the Compound gate as if to further emphasize the unnatural circumstances below; humans, Lykos and Vrykolas gathered together in wait for half past midnight. For the gate to open, for most of them to put their lives on hold for six years.

Grounds to Explore

Who: Jacta and Cathryn
When: Anesus 1, Between 12:30 and 1:30
Where: Castle Main Hall

Although Jacta was not a nocturnal creature, and once she had discovered a free room -- upstairs, an inner room that lacked a window -- she was very tempted to drop her pack and climb onto the bed to sleep, but she was still uncertain if the night's challenges were over. She had been expecting some kind of formal greeting, but all she had found were older compound-dwellers waiting up for them, inspecting them, rarely engaging with them in conversation. Lykos, human, Vrykolas... the older of the lot seemed less likely to judge Jacta and the other newcomers by species, and more by the merit of their determination.

Big Building, Little Lykos

Who: Kai and Marcus
When: Anesus 1, around 1 am
Where: The castle courtyard

Kai couldn’t remember the last time she’d been irked to be under the light of a full moon that wasn’t her own. Had she ever been so? She was inclined to say no, she had not. But then, never before had she had to put up with being confined to a single shape while out of familiar territory. Back home, when she knew a full moon would be rising the next night, all she had to do was make sure it caught her in her favored animal form. Then the night would pass as usual, and that would be that.
