Speaking of British writers writing Japanese action heroes Tokyo Storm Warning was a three-issue mini-series by Warren Ellis, which he described as "a gentle piss-take of the giant robot genre played straight." The premise is that the United States nuked Tokyo instead of Hiroshima during World War II.
This entry covers the first half of the series. I'm dividing the pages between two entries to prevent an unwieldy, huge number of pictures in one entry.

Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes, plus Planetary and news on a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde film ( Trailer behind link, and when Elijah Snow met Holmes for legality )
In semi-related news, Keanu Reeves is set to play Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, http://www.empireonline.com/News/story.asp?nid=24747
Downey is a competant actor who has shown in films such as Chaplin that he can do an English accent, yell about this instead if you want to yell about miscasting.

Aetheric Mechanics Title: Aetheric Mechanics (Avatar Press, 2008, 46 pages) Creators: Warren Ellis (writer), Gianluca Pagliarani (pencils) Availability: In print.
A Sherlock Holmes pastiche as written by Warren Ellis. When I first posted this back at the old comm, I described it as "what awesome will be once it grows hair on its chest and finds the confidence to talk to girls". I stand by this opinion.
It's not what you think.
Anyway -- good book. Lots of fun. Deserves your money.

Planetary News Yes. I know it's April 1st. However this was posted to Twitter 16 hours ago. Even throwing in the time difference, it was still March 31st when posted: From Warren Ellis' Twitter: Just heard from DC That John Cassaday has finished PLANETARY #27. Ravens have left Tower of London.

Transmetropolitan #5 - What Spider Watches on TV It's unprecedented, but I actually have in front of me both a scanner and a comic, at the same time, in the same room, and as such it's virtually a law of physics that I should bump the two together and see what spawns. I thought I'd share a little snippet from Transmetropolitan, in which Spider succumbs to advertising - and let's face it, who wouldn't with these babies?
( And everything's coming up Jesus shoes! )
( Bonus Logan/Kurt )

*dusts off her old insanejournal* Yesterday morning when I first noticed s_d was gone, I thought, "Well, ain't that a kick to the head." Then I read about all the dramaz that lead up to and immediately followed it. I have some different thoughts now, but those have already been expressed better in other places by people who are not me, so I won't go into that. I will however post this single beautiful beautiful page from Thunderbolts #115
( My favorite kick to the head ever )
