Ada - injury/removal (about an hour or so into the match)
[info]douxnoir

Ada was doing pretty well in keeping on top of Wigtown scoring. However, after having managing to get a quaffle past her Drew Stewart, in passing over the hoops, manages to kick Ada in the head which earned the Wigtown Chaser an Oaking foul. Pain flares up along the side of her head, and she's slightly shaking it trying to clear her mind. After a moment she manages to sort of right herself and gives her team a quick thumbs up - although her head definitely has a thrumming feel to it.

It's not long after that, when Mary Maddox was taking a shot, that the Wigtown Chaser had accidentally pulled at her broom. With her focus still not being 100% Ada is caught off-balance and falls from her broom, but at the last second manages to catch hold of it with her right hand. Unfortunately, she's left hanging for a moment too long and the instant she feels the shooting pain from her shoulder dislocating she immediately lets go of the broom unable to hold on any longer.

Fortunately, she's caught by [volunteer] before she hits the ground - although it does nothing to help the pain in her shoulder or her head. Not long after she's escorted to the med tent. Sorry, Coach and Florrie

When Ada is on the ground, Florrie is mostly relieved to see her in one piece. She helps Ada to the tent.

Since it looks like the ambulator will be taking Mary to Mungo's immediately, Florrie has to deal with Ada's injuries. If her head injury isn't concussion. Assuming it's not a concussion or otherwise serious, Florrie will deal with the shoulder first.

Shoulder protocol is popping the shoulder back into place, immobilising with a spell brace, and pain potions unless the head injury means she can't.

Head protocol depends on what the diagonostics tell Florrie about the injury.

Sorry, Florrie.

She says it feels like a troupe of highland dancing mountain trolls are in her head, and definitely feeling kind of woozy.

Also might be hoping she hasn't let the team down getting knocked out so early.

After some diagnostics, Florrie decides rather safe than sorry with a head injury. Once there's an ambulator available, she sends Ada on to Mungo's.

Alasdair knows he probably isn't going to be let anywhere near the inside, but he's waiting outside the medical tent looking anxious, that's for sure.

Mandela who had been happily resting in the tent, perks up at the commotion when a new person arrives. A new hurt person. Sensing the other person was stressed, but focused he wandered out of the med tent.

Luckily there was a new (but kind of old) person who was hurt and not so focused. Mandela came over, sitting in front, and gave a little whine in question.

Once Alasdair goes, Florrie is so giving Mandela cuddles while they watch the match.

With his human busy feet above them, Mandela is happy to give cuddles and comfort to Florrie. It is both his job and super power.

Fortunately Mandela is not going to tattle on Florrie for how upset she was about the injuries and about Kal continuing to fly while bandaged up.

Alasdair looks down, his thoughts foggy, and recognises the familiar little dog. "Hi, Mandela," he mutters, kneeling a little to instinctively ruffle his ears.

After a while, an ambulator shows up and goes into the tent and there's a crack as they take Ada to Mungo's.

Florrie comes out and tells Alasdair that she's sent Ada on and he should go to meet her there. This is precautionary because of the head injury. She has a note for the admissions people so Alasdair can get in to see Ada even if he doesn't hold her health care proxy.

Alasdair mutters a quick concerned thanks (though they're listed on each other's medical paperwork, so he's less worried about that, more for the fact that she has a potential head injury) before disapparating with a very worried look on his face.

Ever since an unfortunate incident in the 17th century, one of the lesser-known duties of Mascots has been to catch players who fall off their brooms.

If we can't catch them with our wands, we are expected to put our bodies between them and the ground.

It's clear who is expendable and who should't be hurt. Wanda barely caught Mary, so Gregor had his wand ready. When Ada fell, he was diving straight towards her, his wand out and spell on his tongue. When he was close enough, he caught the keeper before she splashed into the ground below her own rings. Butch (the man in the Wanda costume) signaled for a Medical timeout, which allows coach and trainers as well as referees to determine the state of an injured player.

Ada's broom clattered down beside her.

"Florrie's coming. Can you tell me where it hurts?", asked the larger-than life Magpie.

Ada blinks, she hasn't passed out yet but her awareness is definitely slightly off. It took her a second or two to remember who was behind the costume, and that it wasn't in fact an actual giant magpie talking to her. "My shoulder... or arm... the right one, and my head... feels like trolls are dancing," she says, wincing whenever her shoulder or head moved too much.

Team during the medical timeout

Jason is very relieved for Gregor's quick acting that stops Ada from getting more injured. Mary Maddox doesn't look like she is any better shape right now, and it's just over an hour in. This probably means both sides will be playing player down for the rest of the match.

The key difference is that Wigtown lost a chaser, Montrose lost a keeper. This leaves them wide open. Jason also doesn't like the look of Kal's broom, but before he can say anything Kal is already landing. Lex is coming onto the pitch, hopefully the two ladies have it covered.

In the meantime, Jason signals over the others still flying. He has been listening to many a strategy session, and is channeling is inner Coach. Jason plans to drop back and be more defensive, which leaves Roger and Angus to drive up the score. Georgi run interference, shut down the lanes. Let's maintain a solid point differential and find that snitch. The faster, the better. No pressure Kenna.

Roger is looking a little anxious after Ada is taken off the field. They're down a Keeper, Kal's injured - that's two defensive spots compromised. Flying over to Jason, he accepts the the coaching, determined that they won't lose this one.

Aye aye, Jason, message received. Angus is concerned about the lack of Keeper and a Beater, but since Wigtown's down a chaser he reckons he and Roger can at least handle keeping possession pretty well and trying to drive up the score. He just keeps taking shots, pulling out all his old and new tricks and relying a lot on Roger's quickness.

Unfortunately, he doesn't count on the Wigtown Beaters to be so ferocious, or the rest of Wigtown to just keep fouling like that, and it's a tough go for the middle of the match, even after Kal comes back in and can help out defensively.
