WHAT: Talkin' bout the Order
WHERE: Verity's flat again

Closing her journal, Verity supposed that she shouldn't be surprised that Fred had managed to keep the secret of the Order quiet for so long. For as loud as he was, he knew when to keep his mouth shut. A part of her was hurt that she hadn't known about the Order, like she hadn't known about the DA when they were in school. Did Fred think she couldn't be trusted? Obviously not or she'd still be in the dark, and wouldn't be working for him.
So why then? She heaved a sigh and tossed her journal onto the coffee table. Throwing herself back onto the couch, she wriggled around until she got comfortable, propping her feet up on the arm, her hands folded across her stomach.
She quite obviously had a stake in the war, being a halfblood. It wasn't as though anyone would ever think that she was in support of You-Know-Who... so why?
Her thoughts were interrupted by a noise at the door and she reached behind her to grab her wand, ready to unlock the door when Fred announced himself. |

Neville was beyond nervous. Take a regular young Gryffindor and shove him into some semblance of leadership, and he ought to shine. That didn't excuse his overly dry mouth, his sweaty palms (which he continuously rubbed against the sides of his trousers), and his inability to settle his voice into anything other than a squeak--
He took to arranging and rearranging the crates, taking full advantage of his coming of age to Accio the heavy boxes this way and that. And he tried to recall how many of them there used to be in the Room of Requirement to help in setting out enough crates for everyone to sit upon. It was probably too much to hope for for Harry to make an appearance, considering. He slipped a hand into his trouser pocket, idly fingering the fake galleon once used to call everyone to meetings, wondering if anyone else still had theirs, wondering if they still worked when people were miles and miles apart.
He ought to have asked Hermione about it. He ought to have asked Hermione a great number of things, but they all seemed less important than the news he had to share with the rest of the D.A. Here's hoping they'd all show up. |

Dotting the period at the end of her sentence, Verity grinned to herself almost unconsciously even though she knew whatever Fred was going to respond with it wasn't going to be the deceleration of love she would've liked. She shook her head and ran a hand through her short hair, tugging at the ends. Maybe what she needed was change.
A party would be good, depending on who threw it, it might help expand her social circle, such as it was. With the party idea, of course, came the added bonus of presents for her birthday. And presents were never bad. Eyeing her journal, she tossed it aside and grabbed her wand, accioing a beer from the kitchen and uncapping it. She took a long swig and pulled a face.
She'd never liked the taste of beer, it was all bitter and fizzy but not the good kind of fizzy. She preferred sweeter drinks and conversely, straight drinks: vodka and tequila and the like. But she'd never been good at mixing drinks and it was sort of depressing to sit alone at home and knock back vodka shots.
Sighing melodramatically, she leaned back against the cushions of the couch and tried to mentally contemplate if she had enough cash on her to justify ordering takeaway. She'd found enough to pay for an entrée or two appetizers when a knock sounded at her door.
She paused, momentarily wondering if she'd become psychic and ordered food with the power of her mind. The knock came again and she pushed herself up. "I'm coming," she hollered, making her way to the door. |
