Current mood: | uncomfortable |
Fred sat back in the chair and continued to look out over the ocean. Pain rode through her back, and through her belly and she sighed. The pain had started earlier in the day, and she knew she was finally in labor. Mere was almost a week overdue, and Fred was looking forward to giving birth. She loved being pregnant, and she loved her children, but she was ready to have Mere. But, since her water had broken yet, it was figured she should be better staying in her quarters until then. There was no sense of them sitting down in the infirmary all day.
"Mommy," came Chase's voice as he opened the balcony door. "Daddy wants to know if you want to eat."
Looking over at her son, Fred shook her head.
"Are you mad at daddy?" Chase quietly asked.
"No, I'm not mad at your daddy. I'm just not hungry, little man," Fred said as Chase walked over to her. He placed his hand on her pregnant belly and sighed.
"You should be good and come out for mommy and daddy," Chase said with a nod.
Chuckling, Fred ruffled his hair before slowly standing. She bounced a little, hoping that would cause her water to break but nothing happened. She sighed and took Chase's hand before walking inside the quarters. Fred went over to where John was and softly kissed him.
"Why do we have to go to Aunt Sam's and Uncle Daniel's when you leave to have Mere?" Alex asked for what seemed like the hundredth time that day.
"We've discussed this already, Alex," Fred muttered before rubbing her forehead. "Do you have your bag packed?"
"No."
"Then go pack it."
"This is stupid," Alex said as she stomped off to her bedroom.
Sighing, Fred leaned her forehead against John's chest as another contraction hit. You ready to add a third to all of this? she asked with a small laugh.
