John couldn't believe it. There was Meredith. She really was beautiful. Different with dark hair and eyes, but he could still see the Meredith that they had met so many times in her. So things had changed, but the soul of their daughter was still the same.
"She looks just like you," he whispered with a smile, reaching over to run his hand over her head. "But she's still our Meredith. I can tell."
When Fred handed her to him, he cuddled her close. "Hey, Mere. Glad you're finally here. I'm looking forward to teaching you to fly, but just remember...trying to sneak into one of the jumpers is bad."
He looked up at Fred and Carson. "What?"
"Let's get her cleaned up, and you settled," Carson said with a soft snort.
While the nurse cleaned Meredith and Carson helped get Fred settled, John called Sam and Daniel to let them know that the baby was there. They promised to bring Alex and Chase down in a few minutes. Once Fred was resting with Meredith next to her, Carson left them alone to have family time.
"Your brother and sister should be here soon," John told Meredith as he sat on the bed with his wife. "I know they can't wait to meet you."
