John raised his eyebrows as Chase told them what Meredith was going to be like. He had worried about what the differences would be with everything that had happened, but it seemed that it was all turning out for the best.
"She still going to want to fly jumpers?" he asked half-jokingly as Fred went over to talk to Alex when she came back out.
"Yep," Chase said with a nod before running into his bedroom to get his bag.
Chuckling, John turned to watch his wife and daughter. He knew Alex just wanted to be there, but she was still too young to understand what would be happening, especially given the pain Fred would be going through when she gave birth. Neither of them wanted to subject her to that. They didn't want Alex to hate Meredith for something that wasn't actually her fault.
"I promise to call you as soon as she's here, okay?" John said just before he felt a wave of sensation from his wife. His eyes widening, he looked at her and then down. Now?
Now.
While Fred called Carson, John went and grabbed the bag they had ready for her. Chase had his bag and was ready to go, so John called Sam and asked if she and Daniel could come over to get the kids. When they arrived, Sam saw the food still sitting on the table as well as the fact that Fred's water had broke.
"Go ahead and take her to medical," she said. "We'll clean up here and then take the kids back to our quarters."
"Thanks," John said before helping Fred up. Getting to medical seemed to take forever, but soon there were there, and Carson rushed forward to greet them.
"So we have the wee little Sheppard finally ready to make her appearance," he said as they headed back to one of the private rooms.
