Fred was glad to hear Shaun and Cait were both doing well. She knew how scary it was when a baby was born under stress. Fred would always remember the first few days of Chase's life, and how worried she was about him. She gave Carson a smile and nodded. "Good to hear. There's nothing worse than having a sick child," she said.
However, when Carson said it wasn't time to push, Fred frowned. It would seem Meredith was going to be more stubborn than her older sister. Shaking her head, Fred could only imagine the fights that would erupt between the two as they got older.
Fred shifted on the bed so John could sit behind her. Once he was, she leaned against him just as more pain rode through her. She was starting to feel uncomfortable and wanted nothing more than to push. When Carson finally said she could, she gave him a grin. "Thanks, doc!" she said.
Reaching down, Fred took John's hand and gritted her teeth. When she felt pain and pressure, she started to push, groaning as she did. As the pain subsided, she stopped pushing and leaned against John again. "I've forgotten how much this hurts," she said with a small laugh.
