THE APOCALYPSE

 photo rky0xt.gif

This is your IC Threadpost.

Please keep things labelled with character names in the subject line.

I'll be doing a few subheaders. Pre fight, Battle, Hellbound and Aftermath. Tag into any of these and if you want another subthread made ask me or MJ so it looks all tidy and whatnot.

Go forth and thread mah lovelies
I'm also gonna suggest cutting comms from the battle to the aftermath down to bare mimimum communications while the main battle threads go on to keep it a little bit real time. If you have to for time constraint reasons please mark it post battle

AFTERMATH- Tahiri/Jacen
[info]jeditraitor

"I could bring her back" he said simply. "I could reach into a place where its capable of being done, a part of the Force that even..."

He couldn't quite finish the statement. A part of the Force even Caedus wouldn't have touched. For all his cruelties, for all the horrors he'd perpetuated, he'd never done that. Tahiri was there, and she was calm and she was focused and Jacen found he needed that. He'd need someone that would understand just what he had to do now. It was against so much of what he was of course, but for Jaina he'd do it. He'd do anything.

No matter the cost to the world or its...

Those babies. Two tiny spikes of Force energy, as yet no discernable gender or personality but definitely there and definitely his. His and Tahiri's, born out of a moment of passion in the confusing relationship they'd shared. No it wasn't normal, not by any matter of means, but what was, what counted as normal anyway.

This, none of this was normal.

The God That Was could hardly be considered sentimental but here, with her, with all that power in her that he could just take if he wanted, he knew he'd have to make that choice. He could probably save Jaina, it might even mostly be Jaina he brought back. But here and now, with those babies, he knew she would never forgive him if he jepordised that.

"I could build them a perfect world, you know I could. I could get Allana back, I could right the wrongs of this place and I could have my sister again. But to do it would cost so much. To even attempt it, and they'd stop me and war, do we want another war, with gods and heroes. I don't know Tahiri. I don't know who to be without her in my life?"

And it came to him then, all in a rush and when it did the amphistaff coiled itself back around his arm, at rest.

"Is this what I did to her? On Sheadu Maad. Is this what I put her through? Tell me Tahiri?"

AFTERMATH- Tahiri/Jacen

The One Who Was Shaped simply stood and stared at the God That Was, letting him talk, letting him get out the statement and then the ranting. It was true, of course, Jacen could do all of that and take the power, take her power, and reshape the world as he saw fit, bringing back Jaina, or at least some form of her, and be in complete control.

But the cost. It was beyond anything that could be put into words, and Tahiri didn't need to say it. Jacen knew. Came to that same conclusion on his own. That to try would turn him into the new enemy, would cause more war and pain and death, and Jaina would never forgive him for that. And to even try to do so would dishonor everything she had stood for.

"I don't know." She finally spoke at his question, her voice soft. "I didn't see her, I wasn't allowed." She had been locked in a cell and had felt Caedus' death rather than been told about it. That loss of her master. "But you know as well as I do that the twin bond never went away. Not completely. You know that." So yes, this was probably exactly what Jaina had felt after she had driven her lightsaber through her twin brother's heart.

Tahiri stepped in closer, close enough that she could even feel his breath on her face as she looked up, ignoring the slight trickle of blood on her cheek from a demon's knife. "You be yourself. The brother she loved, the brother she believed in." Be Jacen Solo. He had worked so long and so hard to find the balance within himself that both accepted the darkness and kept it at bay, a struggle that remained every day and one she was determined to never leave him alone to deal with.

"You know, in your heart you know what she would want from you. To help these people rebuild their lives, to be a friend, to be a father." Without even thinking about it, her hand drifted to where her bump was quite noticeable now, two babies both calm inside. "She believed in you, I believe in you. You can make her proud."

He knew. And knew that Tahiri was right. It took a moment, in fact probably many moments. Tahiri stood where she was, not moving, not leaaving his side. Hand on that bump of hers. Her babies, their babies. His eyes caught the small cut on her cheek and his free hand raised to rest against it, press against it, just that little touch of pain to see what she'd do, how she'd react. Nothing that would ever hurt the babies of course but something that was this something that was them.

"They used to say I'd died in the Embrace you know, Mom, Dad, Jaina. They said that what came back after that was different. Was something broken and made again. And maybe they had a point. The Jacen Solo I am, its so different to what I was, to who that man was. He abhorred war. Desested the idea of using the Force to control. He wanted to change the galaxy, to save it with words. Maybe if Anakin had actually sent me back when we argued while preparing for Myrkr, maybe it would have turned out differently. For all of us I guess."

Could he do that though? What she was saying. Help people rebuild, be friends with people, be a father again and not use it as an excuse for what needed to be done. He loved Allana with all his heart but his fears for her upon that white throne had torn a galaxy apart. Who was to say these babies would not bring similar visions.

Or that he'd be any better a father to them than he had been to Allana. Or that his parents had been to him and Jaina.

"Be Jacen Solo." he repeated, staring darkly at her, finger still pressing at the shallow wound.

"Who is that? To you? To them?"

AFTERMATH- Tahiri/Jacen

Her breath hitched as he pressed against the small cut as she felt the strength that came from pain. Just a little, nothing like what she could have taken if it was only her to worry about, but that feeling of being real and there and her. So she didn't pull away, didn't shrink from his touch. If anything she pushed a little back, making the touch firmer and taking comfort and strength from it.

"We all break and change over time." Some more than others, it was true. Tahiri herself had been described as broken and remade so many times over the years. When Anakin died, when she was Shaped, her path to becoming Sith, losing Jacen. "Even the slightest difference in our decisions could have led us all down completely different paths but..." she paused and actually took a deep breath, reminding him of the hardest lesson he himself had taught her. "We can't change the past. Just our perceptions of it. We evolve, we change. We accept our pasts and learn from them. Never forget who we were because that all brought us to here, to this moment." Jacen, the God, Caedus, to this. This man in front of her, asking the difficult questions.

"Jacen Solo is the one man who understands me, who truly knows me, all of me, who has seen the very worst of me and made me better." Not through the path of the Sith, that wasn't what she meant, but who she was here, in Lawrence. This was the best of Tahiri, the strongest she had ever been, who still had hope for the future even after everything. "And Jacen Solo is the man I love." It was the first time she had said the words out loud, and to many it would seem the most inappropriate time, standing in the remains of a battlefield, surrounded by death and pain, but then wasn't that just them all over? They would never be a grand fairytale, the love story told to children. They were born from war and hardship and overcome it all to find this relationship, unconventional, unique as it was. She didn't expect him to say anything back, she knew who she was to him, and she was alright with that. But she needed him to know that he was loved by her, and would be by his children.

"You are a man capable of so much love, so much strength, who can do things others never could. You're a father, and I believe in you, I believe in the father you are going to be to these babies of ours. They are going to be so lucky to have you." He would keep them safe. Not with the war that had so driven him to try to protect Allana, losing himself in the process, but in a better way. Keep them protected from the creatures who went bump in the night by being there with them.

"You can do this, Jacen. I have faith in you, I always have."

Well there it was in as many words. The reason he had to hold together. The reason he couldn't let the darkness in. And Tahiri had told him she loved him with no expectation of a return. Because he couldn't yet. He had tried, he could have told her those words she must have wanted from him so very badly but he couldn't say them quite yet. She'd have him in her life, he'd be with her, be there for her and for their children and he would love those children. But those words...he didn't know when the day might come that she would get them from him.

Different paths had led them here. His actions in making her what she was, hers in trusting him at the expense of the other Jedi, all of it added up to this.

"I taught you well." he told her as she pushed against him letting the almost blessed pain in. Taking strength from it, using it. And he needed that too. Here in a world without his sister he would need that from her. And she would be there for him, she'd give him that strength if he asked her to. He wished he could say the words in return. She deserved them. She called him capable of love and sometimes he really did wonder. He'd made her everything she was and he hadn't done that out of love. Oh she didn't regret it now but he'd made her into his apprentice, lied to her, manipulated her, taken her to his bed when he'd needed someone. He had cared for her throughout of course but how was that even close to love, and how on earth could she keep her faith in him.

"I will do this. I just, it will take some time for me to get used to her not being there. To get used to the empty space that was always, always her. I'm going to need you. Quite a lot."

AFTERMATH- Tahiri/Jacen

She did feel relief that he had heard her, and more importantly understood her. Tahiri didn't think anything quite as dramatic as she had talked him back from the brink. But she had made him pause. And while she knew he would probably go back and forth there several times over the next few days and weeks, she also knew she would be there, every time.

Tahiri didn't expect him to say he loved her in return. Oh she wanted it, of course she did. Any woman would. But she would rather he never said it than said the words without meaning them. It was enough for her that he knew how she felt. No demands in return.

"You taught me very well." Some lessons had been harder than others, some had felt as though they had broken her, but they had all been needed, and she was stronger for them. And she trusted Jacen. Completely and utterly, even when he didn't trust himself.

"You can take all the time you need, I'll be here," her tone was quietly firm. If anyone dared to tell Jacen at what pace he was supposed to grieve, she would end them. "Whatever you need from me, Jacen." Using his name was deliberate. When she knew he needed control, she addressed him as Lord and Master, when he needed that dark side of him indulged, when she needed that herself. But this was not that time. This was the time to show that she was by his side as his lover and partner, the mother-to-be of his children.

And Jacen saw it, of course he did, that deliberate little use of his name, the way she stood. He could always tell what she was trying to do. He could always read her. His Tahiri. His apprentice. He'd shaped her almost as much as the Yuuzhun Vong and here, even now, she stood by him. She was here with him, and it meant more than he really knew how to say.

"I taught you what you needed to know." he said softly."

He wasn't sure what to do now. Did they wait, pray for the whims of the seal to bring his sister back to him. Did they bury her, burn her, they had to burn her. It was Jedi tradition and she was most certainly a Jedi. Their sword, the one that had never waivered.

"Wouldn't be insulting that it was me would it? Burning her, doing the rites. Given my opinions about the order and all. If Mara was still here it would be her, or Luke obviously if...Its just us though. Maybe you, you're probably less insulting overall. Maybe you should be the one to do it?"

He was overthinking and he knew he was. He found though that he could not help it.

He was overthinking it, he was really overthinking it, but Tahiri gave him the space to do so anyway, let him get the comments out, rather than interrupt anything. Only when she was sure he was done did she speak.

"We'll do the rites, do it properly." Her voice was soft but firm all the same. "We will, together. Because screw the kriffing Order, this isn't about them. You're her twin brother, she loved you. Will always love you, through everything. It's not an insult for you to honor her." After all, hadn't Luke given Vader those rites? In the days when there was no Order, and Vader had been the Sith Lord. That hadn't mattered then, and Tahiri knew Jaina would not consider it an insult for her brother to mourn.

And Tahiri herself would be by his side through all of it. No matter what happened, that was just how they worked. Jacen and Tahiri, partners.

"We should go though." Tahiri glanced around, briefly looking at the mess around them all, people grieving, people raging. And it wouldn't be right to just leave Jaina there on the ground. "We should take her away from all this. I can carry her if you want me to."

She was right of course, Jaina would not be left here. They'd carry her, they'd do what rites they needed to. He'd even swallow his dislike of the Jedi Order to see her sent to her rest as appropriately as she would have liked. The Sword of the Jedi. He supposed it was right she fell in battle, even here. But of course it was possible she was at home, back in their world and he wondered did she remember? He wondered would it change anything for her. For him.

Would he fall so far? Would he still give himself for the galaxy.

"Yes, yeah we should move her. We'll get her back home. I should see if the damn angel is still anywhere about though given what just happened who even knows. I should...yeah there's things to get done."

He couldn't get used to that emptiness where she had once been, the twin bond broken. And for the first time he felt just a little guilty for having done that to her.

At least he was remaining calm, that was one relief. Tahiri had almost braced herself for Caedus, for having to talk him down from exploding everything the way he had come so close to doing over Allana. Thankfully it seemed they were all being spared that. Tahiri wasn't sure Lawrence could have survived Caedus directly after Lucifer.

"We'll get her home, sort out the arrangements, try to contact Gabriel if there's any way to, and deal with everything. I'll handle it all if you need me to." Her tone was soft, calm but firm. Jacen would need time to adapt, to deal with not having her presence there, that twin bond so abruptly severed.

She reached out and took his hand, some measure of physical contact to go with the steady presence of her and the babies in the Force. They would never replace Jaina's, never be able to make up for that, but they were a reminder that Jacen wasn't alone.
