Who: Leo and Chris
What: Leo talking about his past with his son so they can start bonding and getting along
Where: Coffee shop
When: Late afternoon/early evening of the 15th
Status/Rating: TBA/In Progress

Shutting the computer, Leo stood up in the apartment he shared with his wife and walked over to a pad of paper. Scribbling out a note that he had gone to talk and spend time with Chris, he made sure the note would be somewhere where Piper saw it. With that done, he grabbed his key for the door and left the complex.

He decided to walk to the coffee shop to give him some more time to think. Mostly about what he would say. Though that largely depended on the things Chris wanted to know about him. He hadn't been lying when he had said most of his early years til the War had been boring. He was a typical young boy growing up in the Great Depression. Still, Chris might find that interesting to know.

Most of all though, Leo was grateful that Chris was willing to speak with him. Maybe after Leo finished telling Chris about himself, his son would do the same. Leo wanted to understand him, where he came from, things like that. The whitelighter also decided to see if Mel would be interested in spending some time with him.

For now though, the focus was Chris.

It really was for the best that Leo's focus was on Chris. His youngest child syndrome sort of trumped most kids'. Oh, he wanted to love his dad. Of course he did, he was normal. But he didn't. Not really. Not like he should have. His dad was practically a stranger. Piper had tried to give both of her boys the attention they needed, right up until the day she'd died. It was hard, but at least he knew she tried. Leo, though... Leo was just pulled in too many directions. And Chris had always come last.

A coffee shop was an easy start. If they'd been home, he'd have suggested the top of the Golden Gate Bridge. But this wasn't home and this wasn't that dad. Not yet. Maybe someday he'd suggest it. Distance meant nothing when you could orb. But for now, he was content walking down towards the coffee shop, not taking the chance that anyone would catch him in his shower of white lights.

He entered the small shop and glanced around, recognizing the familiar sandy blond hair of his dad. He looked so much like Wyatt that Chris actually froze for a second. Then he went to stand next to the man who would someday be his dad.

If this little trip didn't screw up time even more.

"Hi," he offered, the sound kind of quiet in a room of lingering people and espresso machines.

Leo had just ordered himself a coffee, nothing fancy, just regular coffee with some cream and sugar, when he heard a quiet "Hi" next to him. The older man turned and gave Chris a warm smile. "Hi," he returned. "I just ordered some coffee if you wanted anything?" So, maybe to some a father buying his grown son a coffee or whatever would be a bit odd. But the two barely knew each other. In Leo's case, not at all. This was a chance to learn more about the father he was in Chris's time. Part of Leo hoped it wasn't too terrible.

Staring into his son's eyes (they looked more like Piper's eyes than his. Hell, most of Chris's features seemed to be more Piper influenced) he could all but see some sort of pain, a sadness locked away there. But Leo wouldn't draw attention to it. Not right now. Now wasn't the time for talking about Chris.

He was smiling. That was a good thing, right? He was okay with that. This wasn't as bad as it could be. And at least the seething anger that Chris usually felt around his father had been tampered a bit. His dad had fought for him back home. Had faced Gideon, had saved Wyatt, and had been the last at his bedside before he'd...well, wound up here. But Chris wasn't stupid. He'd known what was about to happen.

Besides, his dad had sprung him from jail. That was pretty big.

"Uh, no. No, I've got it. Don't worry." He really should have looked into getting a real job, but he'd picked up a few odd jobs here and there and could certainly handle a cup of coffee. He never drank anything fancy. He quickly placed an order before Leo could interrupt him and then turned to look at the whitelighter with a half-smile. It was the best he could manage. "So...how are you?"

"If you're sure," he said. While he wanted to, he didn't want to push things. At least not yet. Not until he knew his son better. Leo sipped on his own coffee and shrugged at the question. "Trying to find my legs in this place honestly." Honesty would be good, right? Leo hoped so. He didn't want to lie to his son.

"Been doing odd jobs as a handyman. Might take a shift or two at the medbay in the complex too. Keep myself busy." It was odd not having the Elders here ordering him about. Truth be told, it was a bit liberating. He didn't have to worry that they would try to interfere in his personal life anymore.

"I'm also grateful Piper isn't trying to bl-scold me," he changed. He doubted admitting to his wife blowing him up would go over well in a public place. "Though it's a bit weird seeing her a bit older." Oh sure, it wasn't too noticeable in her appearance, but her eyes gave it away at times. The loss of Prue in her time, his abandoning the family.

"How about you? How have you been holding up here?"

It was interesting, seeing this younger version of his dad. Oh, Leo didn't age, not properly. Whitelighter and all. But he'd experienced so much less than the father Chris had grown up with, or even the one he'd been dealing with the last several months. The one he'd been so angry at that he'd shipped him off to Valhalla without a second thought.

Probably better not to bring that part up just yet. Though he did have the sense to blush as he looked away from Leo.

"Her, uh, scolding you is kind of my fault. Did she explain all of that?" He'd done what he felt he had to do, and hell, who'd paid the consequences more than the guy who'd literally almost ceased to exist? He felt badly about it, yes, and he'd never purposely cause his mother pain. But he hadn't really had a choice.

"She did, yes." It had been a hard conversation to hear. After fighting so hard with Piper to marry her, being so in love with her, he had just let himself become an Elder. "It was surprising to hear I'd done that, but given I don't really know what happens between when I'm from and then, I can't really say why I let it go through."

Once they both had their coffee, Leo moved to a table a bit more out of the way so they could talk properly and hopefully not be bothered. "But that doesn't matter right now. Right now, you said you wanted to know more about me. So, fire away," he said.

"You let it go through because there wasn't another way," Chris pointed out, hanging his head a little. "Trust me, we tried. The Elders were dead. You didn't have a choice. You saved the world." Of course, he'd done so with Chris' 'help'. But whatever.

Chris took the seat facing the cafe so Leo could face the wall. The questions he had were normal. The answers his dad would have to give probably weren't. "I don't know. I don't know much, really. You said you were considering helping in the medbay. I didn't know you were a doctor."

Leo nodded at Chris's words. Perhaps he was right. Still, it hurt that he had abandoned his family that way. But it obviously all worked itself out because, number one, he had a second son that was sitting across from him and two, he had a daughter. "I'm sure things worked out as they were meant to, just a little different."

At his son's next words about not knowing Leo had been a doctor, the older man smiled some. "Technically, I only ever reached the rank of medic, not doctor." He paused for a sip of his drink before continuing. "I grew up during the Depression. Did what I could to help my mother and father out, collected cans and recycled the comics I saved up for. But when America entered the War, I wanted to help but killing just...never sat right with me." He shrugged a bit. "So I decided I could get medic training and help that way. Not sure if Piper ever told you but, it was around the time I was about eighteen that I got married. She was no Piper but I loved her all the same.

"But the day came when my unit was called into action and we left for the Pacific Theater." A haunted look came to his eyes as he spoke. "The horrors of War...the papers and pictures only captured a fraction of it. Seeing it first hand in the medical tents..." He let out a slow breath. "It was there at Guadalcanal that I made the hardest choice in my life up to that point. I abandoned a friend I had enlisted with to go save complete strangers. But the moment I left the tent...a bomb fell on it. Killed him and his older brother."

Part of Leo didn't want to talk about this. The memories were painful. He hadn't even told Piper about Nathan and Rick, though there was a good chance it had been in that file Dan had given her. But he felt a little better having shared this personal story. Especially with his son. "Wasn't long after that though that I got hit."

No, Chris hadn't known his father had been married before his mom. He supposed it made sense, though. Whitelighters lived whole other lives before becoming the guardian angels of the Wiccan world.

How many other kids got to hear their dads talk about the second World War anymore? Not many, and none his age. With a dad that looked pretty young still. He found himself sort of fascinated as he listened to Leo's story. Even if the fact that he'd left his friends to go save strangers didn't sit well with him. That's what his dad did. Helped others, as many as he could. Probably why he'd been chosen to be a whitelighter at all. But it was too similar to the life Chris had lived. Leo always helping others, never being there for his youngest.

Still, he could see the pain on Leo's face and he tried to offer a comforting smile. "Guess that's why you got chosen, then. Helping strangers and all. Mom named me after your dad. What was he like?"

"I suppose. Though, it was a bit nice that my friend Natalie joined around the same time I did. Obviously I wished she had lived, but it was nice to have a familiar face." Hearing Chris ask about his grandfather, Leo found himself smiling again. No matter how long ago it was, Leo would always love his parents. He still had a picture of them that he kept around.

"He was a tough, loveable old bastard," he said with a laugh. "He was strict when I got out of line, and a real money pincher given the times. But he loved mother and me. He taught me how to play baseball and we would listen to the games on the radio when I was a kid. And he always made sure I had enough to eat, no matter how many long hours he had to put in at the factory."

Leo paused to take another drink of his coffee. "Father always kept telling me that people shouldn't be suffering in this world. That life was too short and was meant to be enjoyed. Sometimes when we were out, a person wearing one of those signs you see in the old photos, 'Will work for food' came up to us, shifting all embarrassed like and mumbled if he could have a few cents for food for his family. Father gave him a dollar. The man just started crying and hugged him, said 'God bless you sir and your family' and ran off to the general store."

The whitelighter smiled. That was one of his favorite memories of his father. Being so selfless to help complete strangers.

Chris tried not to be bitter. He really did. But it sucked that he didn't have any memories like that with his dad. By the time he came around, Wyatt was pretty firmly on the other side. Already he was acting up consistently and causing so much trouble that he took up all of their parents' time. It really wasn't any wonder that Chris was closer to his aunts than he was to his own father. Mr. Always There for Everyone Else.

"He sounds like a great guy," he admitted, a little choked up. He loved his grandpa, he did. But it might've been nice to be raised in a normal family where he could have two sets of grandparents, neither of whom were ghosts. Not that Grandma Halliwell (and Grams, too) weren't amazing. It was just...hard, sometimes. And then Wyatt had put his foot down about bringing the matriarchs of the Halliwell line into the Manor. "A dollar was a lot back then, huh?"

These were stories he should've gotten long ago. And he really hated that he was only getting them now, but at least he was getting this chance Better still, he could live with the knowledge that in another world, he grew up with an awesome brother and a terrorizing kid brother who would get these stories with him. "Who was your first charge? Once you got turned, I mean."

"He was. I wish you could have met him in person. And mother. She was kind and caring too. A lot like father, except she kept telling me that it was okay to put family and friends first depending on the situation." Hearing the comment about the dollar, Leo actually laughed. "Let's say when I was a kid a dollar would have bought me about a month's worth of candy depending on what all I bought and how much I ate."

He ran a hand through his hair and thought. "My first charge... They started me off sort of easy. It was a young man, probably about your age. His older brother had been killed in France early on in the war and he was determined to get revenge. The Elders instructed me to basically get him off the vengeance path given he was a future whitelighter. It took several months but he finally started listening."

Obviously Leo had taken after his father more if his mom had thought it was better to put friends and family first. Maybe he was like her. Shame he'd never actually know. Most people told him he was most like his Aunt Prue, but he wasn't sure if they meant in personality or just appearance. They had the same eye color, after all, and he even had the same power as her. But that didn't mean there couldn't be more to him, many more layers. The Halliwell family was huge, after all, and now he would get to learn more about the Wyatts.

Chris hesitated when he heard the story about his dad's first charge. How like him was that? Someone had hurt his brother. And, yeah, his brother was an ass for it. And yes, his main goal was 'save the world'. But he so badly wanted the brother he knew was under there that he'd been willing to change time, a thing most people agreed you really shouldn't do.

"Was he okay? Afterwards, I mean? With his brother and all?" He sighed a moment later and shrugged. "Sometimes I think maybe we shouldn't have been born whitelighters. I feel like maybe you should have to earn it, like you guys did." Because if you were born one, what you got was kids like Chris and Wyatt. Both of them with some really terrible ideas. And they could be jerks. Oh, Chris didn't abuse his power like Wyatt did. But he'd been guilty of the personal gain bit, writing it off as 'stopping Wyatt' and that didn't count as personal gain at all, thanks.

Leo studied Chris as he spoke. While there were some Piper features in him, he seemed a bit more like Prue too. It made him wonder which witch powers he had. But time for that later. Hearing the question about his first charge, Leo sat back.

"It took him a fair amount of time. After the war, he helped out in an orphanage for children who no longer had parents or had been abandoned. It started to truly help him heal. And gave him a chance to tell the kids about his brother. One night, one of the kids had a nightmare and just like his older brother had done for him, my charge comforted the boy and had an epiphany that even though his older brother was physically gone, he still lived on in his memories. Not the same thing, but it was better than nothing after all. Once it seemed he was back on the right path, I picked up a witch as a charge. She was much more stubborn in how to do things. Almost like your mother and aunts actually now that I think about it," he chuckled.

Chris felt a little better knowing the kid hadn't gone completely off color or anything. Maybe there was still hope for him. Maybe he could grow up as a decent human being. And he knew the other him, the him in Mel's world did. But this him... Well, he guessed it really depended on what it was like back home. Not that it mattered, really. He was dead, wasn't he?

"Hey, nothing wrong with stubborn women. Well..." He hesitated, thinking of the hundreds of times he tried to get the sisters to do something, knowing it was the right thing to do, and they ignored him. "Okay. Sometimes Mom and Paige and Phoebe, they're... Difficult. But they're genuinely good!"

Leo laughed a bit and nodded. "While I've not yet met Paige, if she's anything like her other three sisters, yes, they're a good stubborn." He wasn't even going to mention what they were on their worst days. If he said it one of them would show up and no doubt yell at him. So he would remain quiet on that fact.

"Though to be fair, they could have been far, far worse. They could have all turned out like their Grams." Leo remembered meeting Grams for the first time. When she had been Penny, a young carefree hippie witch who wanted everyone to get along. But after her husband's death...Leo found it extremely wise not to piss off the Halliwell matriach.

"What else would you like me to tell you about?"

That was still weird, but if anyone in the Halliwell family knew time travel, it was Chris. So he just sort of smiled and shrugged it off. His dad didn't know his aunt. So strange. But he had a sister, a fully grown sister, who he'd never met. So who was he to talk?

"Hey! Don't mess with Grams! She's amazing. She's hard as hell, though, I'll give you that." One of the few things Chris got any amusement out of was the fact that his grandmother hadn't wanted Wyatt. Oh, she'd gotten over it before Chris had come along. But he'd only gotten to meet her a few times before Wyatt had banned visitations from the Halliwell spirits. Typical.

What else did he want to know? Everything. Most kids grew up with these sorts of stories. He was nearly twenty-two and hadn't heard a single one. "Tell me about when you met Mom. Like, as a friend or whatever, not just your charge."

"You know, Grams use to be a hippie," he said with a grin. He listened as Chris said his next request to know and nodded some. That was an easy thing to do.

"Well, I first saw her just before Grams passed as she walked on the street with Prue. It was months later that I actually met the sisters. If memory serves, they had just dealt with their shape changing neighbors and their father returning to their lives. I introduced myself as their handyman." He grinned a bit.

"After I more or less got settled into fixing up the house, both Piper and Phoebe started hitting on me. Piper because, obviously she was genuinely interested. Phoebe because Piper was interested."

He had loved those early days with Piper. But he had hated not telling her the whole truth. And leaving to check on his other charges had been hard too.

Chris rolled his eyes, but he was smiling. "Most people back then were hippies," he reminded his father, hoping he wasn't actually expected to be scandalized by this revelation. In the eyes of kids from his generation, if you lived through the sixties, you were a total hippie.

He couldn't imagine a time his grandfather wasn't in their lives. Victor Bennett was the one person that a teenaged Chris had depended on. But he knew his dad and his grandfather hadn't always gotten along. Something about Paige's dad. So he just listened, sipping at his coffee while his dad mentioned his mother. He studied the man's face, trying to get an idea of how genuine he was. If he loved his mom so much, why couldn't they make it work?

Well, the answer to that was easy, wasn't it? Wyatt.

"Aunt Phoebe's always been kind of flirty. I understand she got married and had three little girls in Mel's future. That's pretty nice." None of the sisters settled down in his world. Who had time? And Wyatt wouldn't tolerate more competition.

"So did you guys do the traditional dating thing? Like, going out to dinner and movies and everything? I mean...how does that even work? Whitelighters dating and all."

"I know. I hung out with Penny back then." That was as close as he would admit to being a hippie. And having longish hair. And a goatee. And wore billowy rainbowy shirts. True that had been the style back then, but still.

Hearing that Phoebe had her own family from Mel's time, Leo smiled some. "That's good to hear. I know with all the Cole stuff around she's been dealing with from my time, it hasn't been easy on her at all." He really felt bad for Phoebe and understood where she was coming from to an extent. After all, he and Piper should never had been allowed to get together but they defied all the rules and proved they could make it work. There was a quote from some philosopher he had read once that went something like 'The heart wants what the heart wants, even that which is worst for it'.

Hearing the question, Leo chuckled some. "As best we could actually," he admitted. "Piper once called it similar to dating a doctor given the times I'd get summoned by the Elders at various times we tried the whole romantic dinner thing. It got easier when they realized that we could make it work and they lifted probation on our wedding." He smiled, though there was a small lingering sadness in his eyes. Natalie had sacrificed herself for the greater good and he knew she would be happy about that given her personality, but she had been one of his closest friends.

That was weird. His dad and his grandmother hanging out. But Chris got it. The thing about basically living forever was going through multiple generations. Didn't make it less creepy.

Chris' face darkened at the mention of Cole Turner. The pages in the Book of Shadows were vague, but the look on his aunt's face whenever the demon's name came up wasn't. He wanted his aunt happy and that man clearly hadn't done it. Phoebe deserved so much better than that demon bastard. "Cole Turner had better just keep his distance," he said bitterly. "And that Christy, too." Chris was, after all, not exactly a trusting kind of guy.

It was only months of living with the sisters in their time and having to pretend he wasn't who he was that gave Chris the ability not to wince when Leo said how they could make it work. They hadn't, had they? Was that his fault? Or Wyatt's? Or was it Leo's? He really hated this. "Maybe that's why I'm not with anyone in my time. In my other time, I mean. I was engaged back home for a while." Till his fiance sold him out to his asshole brother. But that was another story. "But Mel says where she's from, I'm not engaged or married or anything. Which is okay, I mean, I'm only twenty-one, but still. Maybe it's the whitelighter thing." Or was he older in Mel's timeline? That was...a little bit depressing.

Leo noticed the dark look on Chris' face. Honestly? Part of Leo couldn't blame Chris. If what everyone was saying was true, Cole hurt Phoebe in the worst ways and that was not acceptable. But that was a different timeline Cole than the one that was here now. "I'm sure they will Chris. Christy doesn't seem to want to have anything to do with the sisters and Cole does seem to have stuck to his deal thus far."

Hearing that Chris wasn't with anyone and that he was okay with it, Leo quirked his brow slightly. "You still have plenty of time if you want to find someone to spend your life with. Twenty-one isn't that old after all. All that really matters is being happy with whoever you decide you want to spend the rest of your life with." He gave a slight smile. "After all, I was content to be happy alone, doing my job for the rest of time. But then I met your mother and well, you know the result of that," he chuckled.

Chris still didn't trust either of them and had mentally vowed to keep an eye on things. Just in case. No one hurt his aunt. Or any of his family, really. Chris was nothing if not protective. He wouldn't be in this mess if he weren't fighting so hard to save Wyatt.

"It sounds easy when you say it," Chris said skeptically. "Just be happy. But there's a lot more involved. Trust. And hard work." Maybe this was why he'd always gone to his grandfather for advice on love.

Or maybe it was just because his dad was never around.

"You guys weren't supposed to fall in love, anyway. Wyatt and I weren't under the Elders' rules, so it was a lot different." Not that he'd ever seen Wyatt in love. Maybe he had some girl, he didn't know. They didn't talk about things like that. Or...much of anything.

Like Chris, Leo didn't trust Cole or Christy that much either. One, he didn't know Christy and she seemed hot headed. Two, Cole had a dark side to contend with that could betray him at any time. And he wouldn't let him hurt Phoebe again.

"I know Chris. Believe me I know. But love is anything but easy. If it was easy, it wouldn't be appreciated when you find it." He gave a wry smile. No, he and Piper weren't suppose to be in love. But sometimes, love transcended things. "Sometimes you can't help who you fall in love with. I never intended to fall for Piper. I knew it was forbidden but I couldn't stop myself. It can just happen when you least expect it."

Chris wanted to trust advice from this man. This wasn't his dad. This wasn't even the Leo he knew from the sisters' world. This was a whole different Leo Wyatt. Less experience, fresher in love, and no kids. None. It was so strange to think about, to watch him and know he wasn't just not known, none of them were. Not even their precious Wyatt.

He looked down to his coffee, swirling it to warm it up a bit. "That...probably goes for everything, though," he admitted quietly. More quiet than Chris ever typically got. "Anything that makes you happy has to be worked for." Like his entire life. The only times he ever was happy was when he worked so desperately for it. And usually, even then, Wyatt knocked it down. Bianca, for one.

Forbidden love? Yeah, he knew about that. Not from the Elders, of course. Someone more dangerous. His own damn brother.

Leo was more and more eager, no, perhaps eager was the wrong word...anxious, yes that was it, to know what had kept him and Chris from being close. It had to be something. And Leo was a bit worried about what it could be. Had whatever he'd done in Piper's point in time caused the future Chris was from? Or was it Belthazor? Or maybe something more sinister they hadn't encountered yet...

He rubbed his forehead. Assuming things would do little good. No. He needed to ask right out. Hearing his son's voice pulled Leo out of his thoughts and he nodded. "It pretty much does," he agreed. "I mean, take life. It's definitely harder on some than most. But when you succeed in the end, it makes it all worthwhile. Or so the hope goes I suppose." With that Leo finished his drink and set the cup gently on the table.

"I know this is about you getting to know me but I'd like to get to know you too. I mean, you are my son and I'd be a pretty poor father to not try to know you."

He wasn't sure he was ready for Leo to get to know him. But at least this Leo was making an effort. When was the last time his actual dad had asked him question about his life? Did he even know his favorite food? Favorite color? Did he know where he liked to hang out or who his friends were?

Chris was pretty sure the answer was no. And that bothered him all over again. He'd tried so hard to move on from that when he'd gotten to the sisters' time. But the incident with the spider demon had proven that he wasn't quite over it. Not yet. They were getting here. But very slowly.

So he took a deep breath and shrugged. "Yeah. Sure, that's cool. If you want to. Hang on. Want another?" he asked, nodding to Leo's coffee cup. He didn't wait for an answer, merely jumped up and rushed over to order two more. He needed time to think. There were things he still instinctively felt he couldn't tell Leo. And some he knew he could, here at least, but it didn't make it any easier to tell his mind that.

When he returned with the two coffees, he sat but remained silent, just looking at the table in front of him.

Leo smiled at Chris' agreement to tell him about himself. But his son's sudden jumping up to refill his coffee cup startled him and he blinked, watching the half-whitelighter. So, clearly Chris was nervous. But Leo was a bit grateful as it did give him a bit more time on what he could ask. No doubt there were some things Chris wouldn't tell him. Which was understandable. He was from the future. Messing with it too much could even negate Chris' existance on top of who knew what else.

Taking the refilled cup, Leo murmured a thanks and took a sip. "I know there's probably quite a number of things you can't tell me with disturbing the timeline. But...tell me a little about your childhood? Were you happy? Were we all happy as a family?" He tried to be specific but not so Chris could have his leeway in what he was allowed to say or not say.

He took another sip of his coffee before adding in a little more sugar, waiting for his son's response. Part of Leo was worried about the answers given what Piper had gone through from her point in time.

"I doubt anything I say is going to mess up the future at this point," Chris confessed with an awkward little laugh. "I've already told Mom that she dies and Aunt Phoebe that I die, and...yeah." Which were things he hadn't told Leo yet. Oops. "And most of my timeline will be different than yours anyway. Mel says it changes. Well, it would have to. Mel exists, for one."

And then Leo picked the worst possible questions and, for once, Chris desperately wished he could lie to his father. He could, he supposed. But he'd already given the clues to enough people that they'd piece it together. It would be even worse for Leo to find out that way.

"No," he answered, his tone low. "I wasn't. We were barely even a family." He swallowed hard, avoiding his dad's prying eyes. "I don't remember us all ever being happy together."

Leo grinned a bit at Chris' words. He was probably right. This was a crazy place after all. No telling what would happen if they got sent back. Though hearing that Piper and Chris himself die? Leo felt his heart clench and he resisted the urge to go give his son a hug (a manly father to son hug of course). The only outword sign that Chris' words had registered to Leo was his tightening mouth and the sadness and worry in his eyes. And as he listened to Chris mention his childhood, it only worsened.

Leo didn't know what to say at first. How could he? To hear that the family he and Piper had wanted wasn't even existant in the sense of the word was hard. Oh sure things were fine as far as he knew from Mel's timeline, but still. The fact that Chris' was so bad...

"...I'm sorry Chris." As lame as it sounded it was the only thing Leo could think of to say. "Can you tell me what happened?" If he got sent back and remembered, after all, maybe it could be prevented and have it lead to Mel's timeline so they could be a happy family.
