The Rules || Joining Guidelines || Application Taken Characters & PBs || Wanted List || About DDC The gods have not faded away, or been reborn. They are not in high school. They have not forgotten who they were. They remember, because they still exist. Though their followers are fewer and less vocal, once a god, always a god. The important things have not changed with the passage of time, though with the advance of the mortal world, gods have discovered the joys of modernization. Because even a Muse can appreciate an iPod. Of course the Sumerians are still insular (and a tad stuck up), the Greeks still squabble amongst themselves more than they do with the other pantheons, and the Norse… well, with Loki on the loose and Ragnarok threatened, they do have their hands full. In every pantheon, just as in any group of individuals, you have those that are warm, friendly and open. And those that never learned to work and play well with others. How will they manage to coexist? How have they done so thus far? What happens when Anubis meets Hades? Or Thor challenges Nergal? Come help us answer those questions and tell those stories.

Diagon Alley -- April 2003 |
A rogue band of thieves is pillaging homes and businesses alike. There is no motive and no clues have been left behind. The victims seem random—but are they really? Aurors are working vigilantly to find who ever is behind the thefts, but there is little to be found. As the annual charity auction for St Mungo's approaches, will the thieves finally make their plan known? And how many people will be hurt in the process? |
Game Background |
It's 2003 and the Wizarding World has come a long way since the Final Battle. Death Eaters have been tried and dealt with fairly under the watchful eye of the new Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt and a reformed Wizengamot. Diagon Alley and Hogwarts have been rebuilt. Slowly the magical community has rebuilt and healed from the destruction of Voldemort's reign. Most characters make their home within Diagon Alley as new flats and residences have opened their doors. |
The Game & Players |
Charing Cross is a unique game where each month a new plot is presented for the characters. Much like real life the characters must react to current events as well as manage their personal relationships. Our hope is that through these small, short-lived plots players will take the opportunity to develop their characters and relationships with other players. We also encourage small group plots, such as book clubs, bowling leagues and writer's circles among many others. Charing Cross has a small group of dedicated, talented creative writers who are hopeful for new friends. We're looking for equally dedicated writers who want to experience a slightly different RPG experience. The mods are friendly and easy-going and encourage player input. We're looking for players who bring something slightly different to the table as well, with fresh, exciting characters. There are plenty of interactive experiences just waiting to happen, so give us a chance and we think you'll be pleasantly surprised. |
Future Plot |
Don't worry -- when the current plot ends in early May the game won't stop! The mods are busy developing the next bit of action and whatever it is -- We promise it will be EPIC! Previous plots have included gender swaps, masquerade balls and karaoke nights. We encourage player input into what they'd like to see next, and there's even a portion of the application where prospective players can have their say. |
Heroes and villains alike seek someplace to exist before they fade from existence. Others search for a way home, not sure if there's a home left to go to. Pentamerone is the last stronghold of human imagination. The hundreds of magical lands and worlds that used to exist in the minds of children are now in a state of decay. Pentamerone is a world of mystery, of new places to be explored, and full of new people to meet. It looks idyllic, peaceful, welcoming. But only one thing's certain: you can never return home again.

Peacedale, Vermont. A normal town with normal people. Nothing weird. Totally normal. Uh, except people have the same basic characteristics as comic book characters. Yeah. Like, Batman is an ex-cop or something who is like "lol taking the law into my own handz" and Spiderman...is well he's sort of the same. And like, the character powers aren't really there. YET. YEAH. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SECOND.

It's the year 2001 and all is well in the wizarding world. What was left of the wizarding community has been completely restored to the point of what's considered normality and the Minister of Magic has made a confident choice in letting both worlds collide just a little more. More and more wizards are branching out into the muggle world. The younger generations have found peace with the way things have turned out and they've moved on with their lives. Kids have moved out and started their lives as adults, intermingling with muggleborns and wizards alike. There are some, in the pureblood society especially, that do not agree with this new lifestyle that most of their schoolmates have chosen, but to fight this new social revolution would be moot. |

Very superstitious, ladders 'bout to fall Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past When you believe in things that you don't understand Then you suffer Superstition ain't the way." - Stevie Wonder; Superstitious Not much really goes on in Superstition. They say it used to be Native Land. Caught between mountain and desert, one would think it would be an amazing place to grow up. Nah. It's just boring. To human eyes. Underneath the mundune surface of southwest small town, Superstition is a haven of activity that most people only know from stories and legend. Nightmarish creatures and unwitting people as neighbors, greeting each other at the mailbox, their kids going to school with things from story books, and blissfully unaware their co-workers might be not so human. _superstition revolves around the kids at the local high school, both human and non. It's a modern, fantasy RPG, flexible to all characters and creatures of a fantastic nature. 1. This is a roleplay game running on Insanejournal. Original characters only, please. The setting is current era high school; the fictious town of Superstition, NM. 2. To apply, see 'Application' link below, and fill out the form in a comment. 3. Experienced RPers only, please. Also, be aware mature subject matter may appear. 4. When making a thread, please remember to tag it. If nothing else, at least with the names of the characters involved. 5. More to follow as needed. |

“Tragedy blows through your life like a tornado, uprooting everything, creating chaos. You wait for the dust to settle, and then you choose. You can live in the wreckage and pretend it's still the mansion you remember. Or you can crawl from the rubble and slowly rebuild. Because after disaster strikes, the important thing is that you move on. But if you're like me, you just keep chasing the storm. The problem with chasing the storm is that it wears you down, breaks your spirit. Even the experts agree. A girl needs closure.”-Veronica Mars Seven years ago, the Dark Lord Voldemort fell, finally bringing an end to his vicious reign of power and terror. Yet, the war did not end with his death. For years, the Wizarding World has worked to repair the damages left during the aftermath of war. Emotional burdens have yet to fully heal, too many lives destroyed, families torn apart, and friends lost. Hogwarts was left in rubble, unable to reopen for years, the damage too great, endless sweat and tears shed as people worked to rebuild the foundations to give their children a future. Death Eaters still roam free, cunningly avoiding even the best Aurors, leaving many in fear that another war will be on the horizon. As things begin to resemble some semblance of normalcy, an old follower of Voldemort is in the wings, plotting his revenge, gathering the remaining Death Eaters and new followers, planning to unleash a new war, wanting to finish his master’s vision. In the Ministry, a serial killer is murdering powerful political figures, leaving everyone pointing fingers and letting things slip through the cracks. Fenrir Greyback has escaped from Azkaban, butchering countless individuals as he runs from Aurors, gathering and making new werewolves in his travels, gathering an army to strike against the Ministry. All the while, the Muggle World is at war, affecting the Wizarding World as it heightens. The world is in complete chaos. Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt is determined to rebuild the Wizarding Community into a vision of peace and has called forth some of the best Aurors from around the world in an effort to clean up the United Kingdom, determined to capture and imprison the remaining Death Eaters and send a clear message of constant vigilance to those seeking to do more harm. Many are unhappy with the Minister’s plans, many seeking to replace him and other important individuals, some willing to go to great lengths to achieve their goals. The Wizarding World is torn between fully recovering and moving forward and taking two steps back, arriving right back where they left off seven years ago. A new war is on the brink, which side will you choose?
