So my Willa girl's turning 8 on the 14th and I finally got my act together this year to put together a party for her. Saturday October 15th at the park from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Also she really embraces being an October baby so there's a mash up of fall and spooky happening. If your kid would like to dress up, they are more than welcome to because Willa certainly will be. I won't be but if you're feeling in the mood, go for it.

Couldn't have said it better. We do our best and pray that'll do it. It is a hell of a ride though. No amount of books on the subject ever prepare you for what's coming.

We have the DVDs if you want to borrow 'em. Willa did say I was more Lurch than Gomez because of the height but nothing suggested about costumes. Yet.

Not even close. Your kid got any powers or anything?

I'd like that, thanks. All the kids at the house dig that weird stuff.

More than likely she inherited my necromancer abilities but they haven't shown up yet. At least she hasn't said anything about ghosts or imaginary friends that may be ghosts. Yours?

They must love this place. Weird is the normal way of things.

Necromancer. What will that mean for her? If you don't mind me asking. El's telekinetic and some other psychic business that I still can't wrap my head around really, but I'm doing my best.

They seem to be doing pretty good. They're really good at adapting.

Back home it was a government category listed on my license so I'm used to it. There's something of a connection with the dead. She'll have the ability to communicate with spirits and raise the dead or return them to their grave. I'll be honest though. Having the ability and raising a child with the ability are two very different things and I'm hoping I can do the latter justice. From someone who grew up being different? That you're willing to stick by her side just dealing with it means a hell of a lot.

Teenagers don't get enough credit for their adaptability. You get to a certain age and that's a goddamn superpower.

I think the same goes for a dad who sounds like he had a rough time growing up with it but tries to make sure his kid has support. Can't imagine what it's like being a kid who can raise the dead. That's a pretty heavy burden.

All the credit for that easily goes to the kid. First time I held her she had me wrapped around her finger. Also going to say take a look in the mirror because you could have said not my problem and instead asked to take it all on for her.

If you got the time, come on over this weekend and have a beer or a soda. We can talk kids, raising hell as teenagers, and whatever else two old men like ourselves talk about.

Yeah I know the feeling. I thought she needed me to save her but it turned out it was the other way around

Sounds good. It'd be nice to hang out with someone who has at least one grey hair. These kids are gonna give me more.

That is the truth. I know I tried to be a little safer on the clock after that.

You're welcome in our group, small though it may be in comparison to all the youngins around. Pretty sure I'm destined to full gray in a few years.
