I'm not saying that Vallo has a greater-than-average risk-taking population, but I am saying that my idea of wrapping up some ~mystery~ books here at Chastity's Nook and describing them only by their genre, theme and kink seems to be really taking off.

In other news, the salt and pepper's gone curiously missing from the flat. I've seen people complaining on the network about things just disappearing - including whole buildings, which I can only imagine - but nevertheless, I'm confident in griping about my own loss in miniature. I had to eat salt-less scrambled eggs this morning, and it was exactly as beastly as you might imagine, and I think I need some sympathy.

[ Filtered to Caroline Forbes, Simon can read but not comment (for Simon is best seen and not heard)]

So it goes without saying, but thank you for your patience and continued pretending that I was not, in fact, the idiot whose private searches re: vampirism were made public. I've been hiding it for a long time - most of my remembered life, actually - and despite my attempts at subtlety with you I'm certain it was bloody obvious (Simon Snow is on this filter; he figured it out ages ago because he is as nosy as he is obnoxiously attractive).

At any rate, I'm not interested in vampire therapy or group talk or whatnot; I'm not terribly interested in vampires at all. But having to go to the forest for dinner is ruining my shoes, and I was wondering if there are any alternative processes discreetly available for those of us who don't drink human blood?

Do you want salt? I'll get you salt.

[Baz]
I tried to say something on the filter to Caroline, but it says I can't, which is bloody ridiculous because I have things to add. So now you're just going to get them here:

1) You're not interested in other vampires at all? Why not?
2) Obnoxiously attractive?
3) I don't have a three, I just thought you might like things in threes. [...] Wait, no! Oi, I'm not nosy, I just trust my gut in all things.

Why are you making this sound like buying salt will be an adventure filled with fraught peril? Oh, never mind, you're involved; it probably will be.

[ Simon ]
Congratulations on getting all the way to '3'. You've really come along. And yes, I allowed you to see my private conversation but removed your capacity to interject because you can occasionally come across as overwhelming, and by 'occasionally' I do mean always.

It doesn't have to be. I am completely capable of just going to the shop and getting salt so you don't have bland eggs! This is how I show my sympathy!

[Baz]
I know but you like when I'm overwhelming but that's because you never answer my questions, so I have to keep asking! Someone else is going to ask too, not just me.

I do like your capacity to problem-solve...

[ Simon ]
Why would I be interested in other vampires? They won't even have the same stupid "rules" as I do, probably.

Start making new eggs. I'll be back with a whole pantry of spices.

[Baz]
You met one group and you didn't like them even though I thought you would like to and have told me a hundred times. I got that part. But maybe there are vampires here with your rules. Which are not stupid, you just think they are.

My hero.

[ Simon ]
Let's see what Caroline has to say. She's been here in Vallo for quite a while, and other universes as well. If she's secretly starting a blood cult in order to steal magic she's extremely discreet about it.

Don't say things like that because I like her and if she is, I have to do something about it. No more bloody cults

Both of the mystery books that I ended up with were ones that I wouldn't have necessarily chosen for myself, but were still entertaining so you did well with selections. There is something to be said for expanding horizons through surprise.

My reading was almost entirely non-fiction prior to arriving here, so I am lucky in that there is a wide variety available that I haven't touched before. It would be entirely too easy to slide back into old reading habits, otherwise.

It's alright. I get it. Back home I have to hide it from the public, took me a while to settle into the whole no one really cares about it thing here.

There are. There's blood clinics in the city that cater to pretty much every diet. Most of them are by human donation but there's some that offer animal alternatives as well.

[ list of clinics, noted which ones are both human/animal and which are solely animal ]

Vampires have proven themselves largely incapable of being in magical society back home. I wouldn't have been able to continue my education had I been public with it. It seems extraordinary that it's just so-- accepted here.

I've never had human blood. I'd prefer not to start now. But thank you for this list; I'm glad to see I've options.

I come from a world that for the most part is removed from the supernatural. So anything that went into that realm was mostly kept in secret. Which when you're a vampire, your bff is dating one, your other bff is a witch, and one of your friends turns into a werewolf during junior year makes for an interesting high school experience.

You're welcome.
