Erchirion son of Imrahil was kneeling by a flower. It was a small flower, ordinary save for the corpses that lay around it, but Erchirion treated it with delicate reverance. He used a magnifying scope to look at it from all sides, seeking out the little indicators he required before plucking it and putting it in his flower box. He disliked killing flowers for no need.

But there was a need. "Serve me well, bright one," the Dol Amrothian whispered as he clipped the flower's stem with his dagger and added the plant to his collection.

He stood up then, looking around at the Fields of Pelennor and the remains of battle that were slowly being carried away, day by day. He stood not far from Osgiliath, his short white horse grazing nearby.

Erchirion sheathed his dagger and walked over to his horse, untying a sack of water from its saddle. He had received no answer from Aragorn about the Siege weapons, but he was patient. All in due time.

All in due time...

At midday, a party of five appear riding towards the gate of Minas Tirith. They are dusted from the road and sore with many days riding, but on each of their faces is a grin at the sight of the White City, capital of their kingdom.

From the bannerman's pole the flag of Dol Amroth flutters, the silver-threaded Swan gleaming in the sunlight on a background of blue silk.

As they enter, each of the party men turns his own way, back to his own family or room at the inn, and soon after a courier is dispatched to the Citadel bearing a sealed parcel.

This note is plain and non descript enough for all intents and purposes. It's missing the crest of Dol Amroth that Elphir seals his normal correspondence with in favor of a plain seal done in normal wax and there is no evidence that anyone in particular has addressed it to Erchirion. It's a typically unremarkable scribe's hand really, at least until the letter is opened. Inside, the writing is bold and sweeping as if it's trying to make a statement on it's own in dark blue ink:

My Lord Erchirion of Belfalas,

Greetings Master Alchemist. It has lately come to my attention that a recent friend of your acquaintance has left his bed and is thought extremely unlikely to return there in future. Do with this information what you will as you seek out other mutual friends to enquire if they are sleeping well or have had that rest disturbed, but be wary of the things you may find there. Danger, as always, lurks in the strangest of places and one of your good name may not as easily have my protection and support in another land.

The note ends there with no signature, though it is not truly necessary, for the swatch of dark blue velvet that accompanies it is proof enough of the sender for anyone.

A letter is sent to Eomer, arriving just after its sender has left the city.
One would quickly perceive that this is Erchirion's way of saying - 'I will not take no for an answer.'
