Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
At midday, a party of five appear riding towards the gate of Minas Tirith. They are dusted from the road and sore with many days riding, but on each of their faces is a grin at the sight of the White City, capital of their kingdom.

From the bannerman's pole the flag of Dol Amroth flutters, the silver-threaded Swan gleaming in the sunlight on a background of blue silk.

As they enter, each of the party men turns his own way, back to his own family or room at the inn, and soon after a courier is dispatched to the Citadel bearing a sealed parcel.

My liege,

first allow me to congratulate you on your ascent to the White Throne. My allegiance is yours eternal, and I shall serve you faithfully in all that you may require. Urgent matters have caused me to miss the official coronation, and for that I apologize.

By my Father's command, Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth, I have gone to investigate the matter of those Returned. I have succeeded in my quest, and can now assure you in all certainty - they are real flesh and blood, as true men as they had been before their death. The tombs in which they were buried are empty.
There is a matter of Memories though. It seems that lords Boromir and Denethor and their likes do not remember their moment of death, and in fact do not remember anything past a certain joyful memory. I would dare say the same goes for the Elves, though who's to know what consists as a 'happy' memory for those returned to us from times of war and darkness.
Another matter which might prove useful to your grace's consideration is the fact that though they are indeed alive, they are blessed (or cursed?) with a greatly accelerated ability to heal. Practically overnight, is my meaning. Their blood, when shed, vanishes during the night and the wounds disappear as though they were but a momentary illusion. I have not tested Poisoning, yet.

Last of all matters which I wish to report to you regards Gondor's military abilities. I have taken it upon myself to find a means to efficiently defend ourselves against Siege devices, such as the Orc trebuchets and that dreadful battering Wolf's Head. I have worked on this project for a long time, and wish to put it to the test.

I know many siege weapons have been left in the field, and that Minas Tirith has taken some of them for repairs and re-use. If I may have one for a demonstration, I am certain Your Highness will be most pleased.

Thine with Loyalty,
Erchirion of Dol Amroth
