For Miguel, a celebratory family dinner meant tapas to start and grilled meats and salad for the main course, and churros for dessert. He had a little fresh bread and oil, some olives, and charcuterie and cheeses out along with wine to keep everyone from from getting too hungry while he prepared the meal.
The scents of garlic and herbs wafted across the kitchen, soon to be followed by the delightful smell of steak on the kitchen grill. The journal article he'd mentioned to Max was lying on the counter, well away from any potential mishaps with sauces or marinades.
"I'm glad my dash up to Boston was cancelled," Miguel said as he put one of the thick, marbled pieces of steak on the grill. "I thought I was going to have to go, but it looks like the client will wait for another week or so. Which is a relief--I feel like I should be here with all the trouble."
