What a welcoming city Amsterdam remains, and Haarlem has a real sense of peace to it.

Just remember to keep some common sense about you. When the cirque was here about 15 years ago a particular group went out and got so high and drunk that three of them tumbled into a canal together.

I would say that I am surprised by the glee at realising we are in the city known for a red light district, but that would be a lie. This city is quite beautiful in all areas. I encourage you to spend your money diversely.

I cannot believe I even have to say this to a group of fucking adults but in no universe is a food fight acceptable behaviour for the cirque. What a disgusting waste of resources and complete disrespect to the catering team who work hard every day to keep hundreds fed and to the cleaning team who have to then deal with your mess.

I hope every one of you involved has apologised.

Hello, it seems like I've chosen a bit of a solemn time to join you all here?

Even so, I'll introduce myself. My name is Tae Seong-mi, and I've come to you from Korea. I'll be working as a costumer, so I hope to meet nearly everyone! Finding the Cirque Noir here was very exciting, as I had heard rumors about it before but didn't know when it would come close enough for me to actually become a part of. I hope to be friends with everyone, and will be in your care from now.

Please report any damages around the cirque to the roustabout team, and report directly to me for anything that needs replacements provided. That is replacements for cirque items. Personal replacements come out of your own money, though I will help you to source anything difficult.

Not a particularly pleasant arrival, but not even in the top 10 of bad moves. If it's your first time experiencing this, know that it is not a sign that anything is wrong but that it occasionally just happens. I hope no one was injured.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day, I just got in under the wire. The canned version is better than I expected it to be, but I'm more of a sours woman myself so never the best judge of a stout.

Did anyone go out and celebrate? I can't imagine the streets are lined with people in green leprechaun hats in India. (But considering the number drunks who vomited at my feet when we did St Patrick's Day in Boston a few years back, maybe that's for the best.)

I got a great deal with a local meat exporter, and if you've never eaten buffalo before that's about to change. Lots of chicken and pork as well, but those aren't nearly as interesting. I look forward to seeing what catering does with buffalo.

I love all the fresh fruit around here. Guava, pineapple, papaya, mulberries, jackfruit. Jackfruit in particular has always been a real star, with its ability to be either sweet or savory. Hoping to see a lot of jackfruit curries in the dining tent.

Heading into the city early tomorrow to get some of my list ticked off. If you have things to need vitally, make sure you've dropped your forms in by tonight. (No, don't just tell me about it here, you know how the system works.)

So to kind of honour our newest location I will for our time here be making up several different cocktails to serve to all those willing to try something new.

• Indian Vodka Mojito - So as most of you know a traditional mojito is made of white rum, lime juice, sugar, club soda, and mint, but in this variation jal jeera is thrown into the mix. It’s a spice blend of roasted cumin, black pepper, dried mango powder, cayenne, ginger, and mint.
  
  
• Tamarind Ginger Margarita - In this version of the classic margarita, a combination of tamarind concentrate and ginger simple syrup is added to tequila, triple sec, and lime juice.
  
  
• Boozy Mango Lassi - A mango lassi is a great beverage full of complex flavors. The blend of mangoes, yogurt, buttermilk, kaffir lime syrup, and lime juice gives it such an interesting taste. Blend in some rum to the mix and you’ll get the perfect boozy drink to beat the summer heat.
  
  
• Nimbu Pani Mint Julep - Think of the nimbu pani as a crossover between a margarita and a mint julep. It has bourbon, mint leaves, simple sugar, lime, and seltzer water. Besides sugar and water, it also contains black Indian salt, which gives it a touch of saltiness.
  
  
• Indian Gin Cocktail - It’s a blend of lime juice, cinnamon syrup, apple juice, nutmeg, and Jaisalmer – a brand of Indian gin which is flavoured with eleven botanicals, including orange and lemon peel, Darjeeling green tea leaves, and lemongrass.

Any volunteers to be my guinea pigs while I perfect these?
