Kevin had regretted implying he might want to talk about what had happened Saturday night almost as soon as he'd written it down. He'd been trying, with diminishing success, to talk himself back into it all day. And now, with everything ele that was happening, he really didn't feel the time was right. Of course, he realised he would never think the time was right to have this particular conversation with Mandy or with anyone else. Kevin didn't talk about his love life, he never had. He certainly wasn't going to start talking about his sex life, which was a different and even less savoury topic. Still, he couldn't get rid of the nagging feeling that what he was doing was decietful and that Mandy would be more upset that he'd been lying to her than by an honest conversation.
In order not to spend any more time tied up in his complicated knot of thoughts, Kevin was focusing on the dinner. He'd decided on a spicy Mexican meatball broth he'd found a recipe for in his mum's Housekeeping magazine. He knew Mandy liked spicy food, and trying new things and was hopeful she wouldn't have had this before. He'd toyed with the idea of doing something Greek in honour of their up-coming holiday but figured they'd eat plenty of Greek food while they were there. The broth was simmering on the stove and there was an apple pie slowly browning in the oven and Kevin had nothing much to do now except wait for Mandy to arrive.
