Who: Daphne and Mandy
Where: Cafeteria at Mungo's
When: Friday lunch!
What: lunch date!

Daphne had asked her friend Mandy to have lunch with her and was glad her fellow Healer agreed. They had gone through training together and become friends while studying together. They hadn't been friends at all in school, but that was because Mandy was very shy and bookish and Daphne loved fashion and gossip. At Mungo's, she was totally different, and more like the studying and bookish type.

She grabbed a soup and sandwich and sat at a table along the left wall so that Mandy would know where to find her. She'd been having an ok day, but she was glad she could sit and relax for a little and talk to someone who knew what being a Healer was like. She could save gossip and fashion for people who wouldn't understand that she needed to unwind sometimes about work.

As she waited, she really wished she had grabbed breadsticks.

It wasn't very often that Mandy had lunch with other people. With schedules the way they were sometimes, she often found herself foregoing lunch for the sake of some patient or another. Today however, was fairly routine, and Mandy was certainly happy for the change of pace. As it was, Mandy had agreed earlier to join Daphne Pucey for lunch that afternoon and it was there she was heading. Although technically they had attended Hogwarts together, Mandy hadn't really gotten to know Daphne all that well until their instruction as healers over the last few years. Granted, they'd separated three years ago as they started their Registrar work, but Mandy still saw her on occasion.

"Hi," Mandy said as a greeting as she approached Daphne's table and set her tray down. She'd arrived a few minutes after Daphne and made her way through the queue, selecting what looked to be a relatively decent pasta bake before heading out toward the seating area. It wasn't the best food in the world, but Mandy was glad for it. It wasn't like cooking her own meals was really a feasible option. "So, how's the First floor?" Mandy asked glancing over at Daphne as she settled into her seat.

"Probably about as low key as the 4th is!" Daphne said. It had been a slow day all around and she longed for some actual action. Not enough people being stupid; just the longer care patients. Daphne had considered working in a faster paced department, but her skill with Potions came in exceptionally handy in the venom department. Her knowledge of off the label usage of various antidotes and other potions was staggering despite only qualifying as a Healer a few months before.

"We do have one patient who refuses to let us heal his burn the magical way and says he wants the cool looking scar from the muggle way. Since he's not in any danger, we're letting him, but he has to stay here until we're sure it won't get infected," Daphne said, rolling her eyes. Was it that worth it to have a dragon shaped scar? Get a tattoo if you liked dragons so much.

"Slow days can be a nice change." Mandy said as she picked up her fork. for her first bite. Maybe it was because they didn't really happen all that often, but Mandy did like having slower days. Yes, fast days tended to make the day go by faster, but she liked having the time to breathe sometimes.

"Really? That's a bit silly." Mandy said with a shake of her head. honestly, she couldn't understand people sometimes. She paused and took a sip from her water. "Have you found the culprit at least?"

The soup was okay, even though dipping breadsticks in it would have made it a lot better. She could dip her sandwich, she supposed, but there was no way to do that without being awkward, so she left it.

"Is absurd," Daphne agreed. She laughed at the next question, "I'm glad that's not my job. All I do is treat. And deal with stubborn people who think their wound will heal better if it heals the Muggle way. But it's just a burn, so the culprit doesn't really matter, and he doesn't want to say. Probably has a secret blast-ended skrewt or something and thus deserved it."

Mandy's brows furrowed for a second. She thought part of the job was figuring out what creature had done the burning, make sure the treatment was appropriate to the type of flame, but she thought better than to ask. "I suppose some people just love showing off scars." Mandy said with a shrug of her shoulders as she took another bite of her meal. Mandy sipped her water. "I'll never really understand it, to be honest. I'd rather not have the reminder."
