Christmas used to be this thing... this really amazing day that felt like nothing could go wrong. And then I temporarily lost some people. Then permanently. And I just kind of figured the Christmas spirit was gone forever at least as far as I was concerned.

So I guess I just want to say thanks to the people here who've reminded me it's not.

After my dad died, my mom tried to do Christmas a couple times. She usually got the day wrong, though. Then when I was twelve she actually got it right but it turned out she had drank away her Christmas bonus the night before and the only thing under the tree was her passed out. After that I just avoided her place that time of the year.

So yeah, I get the whole...no Christmas thing. This year feels weird. But nice.
