Hey, everybody!. Okay, first, there are lots of new people here now so if we haven't talked, I'm Freddy and I'm 14 15. I'm a freshman at the high school. Welcome! Tomorrow is Goodland's Coming Out Day so I wanted to say something. But I didn't want to say it over and over so I'm gonna do it here and hope the bullies from home never come here. Like a few know because some guessed and I told some, but not many. And if I didn't tell you, it is not because I don't trust you, but because I just don't understand everything yet. I just know I don't just like girls. I'm not sure I like any girls, but maybe I do. I don't know if I just like boys either. And, like, I've been reading websites like The Trevor Project and It Gets Better and I know there is so much about gender and sexuality and labels and I guess it just feels like a lot so I don't totally know what I am yet, but I do like a certain guy know I definitely like at least one person who identifies as a male. So that is my coming out story. I hope that is okay.

Hello, my name is Dave.

I come from a point in history, where this is seldom talked about. "Coming out" wasn't a thing that gay men did, they were made to feel like everything they did should be hidden away.

When I finally got the courage to come out, I was older than you, and it was not well received among my peers. It makes my heart very happy to see the support that you are getting.

If you ever need someone to talk to though, about any of this, I'd be happy to listen. I would offer advice, but my experiences will have been very different than yours. They weren't as accepting in the 1950s. But I am good at listening.

You're very brave, and I hope you continued success.

There are people at home who would not be so cool with it, but I get what you mean. I am sorry you had a hard time.
