Did you ever think you like LIKED someone, but wasn't sure because best friends and more than best friends can be sorta close? And because you didn't think you liked a certain type? And what do you do to know?

Captain America wants to borrow the book you got me for my birthday!

I mean I definitely do some of those things, but I think you are super aware!

And you are SUPER COOL AND SPECIAL, PETER.

[Peter]

You are SPIDER-MAN.

I've had my fair share of crushes! Even when I don't realize it at first, I tend to figure it out eventually that I've got a crush.

Thanks, Freddy. You know you're super cool and special and awesome and one of the best around here.

[Freddy]

I know! But I'm also Peter Parker, and what if they like Spider-Man more than Peter Parker? It's still me, but it's also the idea of me. "Oh I like the idea of you but actually being with you up close and personal? No, thank you. You talk too much and are too nerdy and weird. Bye."

That's another thing, I guess. Do you like them for who they are, and do yo want to get to know all of them? And do they like what they've seen of you so far, and do you want to show them all facets of you? I think that's part of it, too, how much you want them to know and how much you want to know.

Spider-Man is cool, but Peter is cool too!

I mean, I don't know how he they feel about me, but I want to, yeah.

Thanks, man. I appreciate that a lot.

Why not start there, with getting to know them more? It's cliche to say people are like onions, and they have a lot of layers, but it's also kind of true. You can continue getting to know them, continue showing them more of yourself, and you can see if your feelings are the same or if they change, and, if they change, how. If you see more of them, and they see more of you, and you still like them or like them even more, you might have a crush. But whatever you're feeling right now? It's probably worth exploring more, even if you take it slow. Might be better for you if you're not sure you've got a bad case of the feels so you can figure it out. Including if this person is your type. Which, honestly? Even if they don't fall into what you usually fall for (which could be a way to see how you feel in general, seeing if it's similar to past crushes), it's perfectly fine. People are more than just any one trait. Even if, say, you really like blue eyes, someone with brown or green eyes can still be your "type" because of who they are as a person. (And please feel free to insert whatever you want in there. Eyes was just the easiest thing I could think of.)

Not to assume, but is it more of a gender thing...?

I'm kind of smart. And you seemed to avoid a gendered pronoun, which made me think I

I'm sure you've heard it's okay, so I won't go into the whole speech, especially because I don't actually know what gender this person is. But I will say it's okay to like someone of a gender you didn't think you would before because you like the person. Maybe you are attracted to more than one gender, or maybe it's just this specific person, or it could be a bit of both. Attraction is weird. But if you're uncertain because you didn't think you'd fall for someone of the same gender as this person, I definitely think taking it slow is good and getting to know this person more.

And it's not something that really comes up? But I can say that I like girls, but I haven't not found myself attracted to guys, even if I've literally only ever dated one person once, and it was a disaster. I don't know if that helps, but I thought I'd share just in case.

Very smart. I'm not.

It helps. Thanks a lot, Peter. :)

I'm glad it helps! :D And good luck! I can't promise to give the best advice ever, but I'm always willing to listen if you need it. :D
