Thanks to overzealous yard cutters, our phone line was either damaged or disconnected (meaning our dsl is down). We won't know until we can get a long ladder to assess it, but either way, our only means of going on-line is, as now, the use of a net cafe -- which is expensive and also full of people excited about their three day weekend -- or finding a site with free wifi, most of which, again, are full of people checking their email while out of town.

So for those waiting for their assignments, we ask for your patience. You </i>will</i> get your assignments either later today (the 4th) or sometime tomorrow (the 5th) if the traffic allows, but definitely no later than the 6th when we expect the out-of-towners to have gone home and cleared out of all the free wi-fi spots!

Remember - if you're unable to post for some reason or just need some extra time to figure out your choices, etc, you can post (or have a friend post) a placeholder.

Just make sure the placeholder includes your email and a general idea of when you think you'll be able to post your signup (we'll let you know if there's a conflict). Then signup as a reply to your placeholder. Thanks!

Sign ups for the 2011 snapelyholidays exchange are now open!

This is is the official sign-up post. Please read the rules* and obtain the sign-up form here.

*you can find, if needed, a clarification of the new rule here


If your sign-up goes beyond the posting limit, please post the rest of your sign-up as a reply to your post. Use however many replies are necessary, and thanks.


Yes, as the end of sign-ups approach or if you will be out of town, you may post a placeholder. Please give us a general idea re: when you can give us your sign-up (we'll let you know if there's a problem) and provide an email -- and again, post your sign up as a reply to your placeholder. Thanks!


If there is someone you would prefer not to be assigned to for whatever reason, please indicate so in a reply to your post -OR- send the moddies an email. No questions will be asked.


If you wish to be added to the pinch-hit list please fill out the sign-up and put "to pinch-hit" on the subject line.

If you'd rather not take part in the exchange, but still want to show us all your Snapely love, feel free to submit your work at any time before or during the exchange to the moddies (email below) for posting to the community. All Snape gifts are welcome, from drabbles to vids.


Sign ups close on August 24th. Assignments will go out by September 4th. A list of participants' names will be posted once all intended recipients respond back to their assignment.

Some have enquired about the new rule so we wanted to clarify:

- each participant must provide at least five Snape/pairings in either
slash or het (or in the case of the gen/pre-slash/pre-het/non-graphic
category, preferred characters and scenarios)

- the five pairings cannot be split between, for example, slash and het

- once five characters (threesomes count) are provided in at least one
of the three categories, then, yes, a participant may ask for only one
or two in a differing category, but the five pairing rule is absolute

Why?
This exchange is to highlight Snape in a variety of situations with a
variety of characters. This rule helps us weed out OTP and near-OTP
entries and helps provide participants a wider variety of choices, which
in turn provides everyone a wider variety of fic and art to enjoy.

Since it's a holiday exchange and meant to be fun, we're opting for
less stress and more focus on Snape overall. Our poor, overworked
wooby deserves more shags, cuddles, long conversations and cups of
Amortentia-laced tea, no?

Thanks for your extreme patience, everyone! Chaz here; it's been insane at my workplace lately, and while [info]psyfic could do this, we divided the moddy tasks and this one was mine to complete.

Many of our very generous participants and watchers pledged donations in support of the following charities:

Partners in Health (one of the first in quake-ravaged Haiti, and still helping there and in other disaster-stricken or war-torn areas)

Tearfund. This UK-based group has been working in Pakistan, even before the devastating floods, and they get around the reported Taliban abuse/corruption by distributing funds directly to their members on site, in order to help the people who need it most.

Soles 4 Souls. When you walk everywhere, caring for your feet is important. Soles4Souls provide shoes for the impoverished in underdeveloped nations, and also for victims of disaster all over the world. One dollar guarantees one pair of shoes donated to someone in desperate need.

We'd most especially like to thank the tireless and talented [info]torino10154 for volunteering to review all the entries and creating a detailed tally of the pledge points. We couldn't have done it without you!

We haven't forgotten, for those of you interested. We'll be posting the info up once tallied. We have one full tally but wanted at least three to make sure we didn't miss any and it's fiddly work, esp. when one has use of only one hand for mousing, marking and typing.

Before we forget - sign-ups for the 2011 exchange begin August 7th - schedule on the profile page. Mark your calendars!


The 2010 [info]snapelyholidays exchange was a real roller coaster ride, both in the sense of running it and dealing with RL issues as well as all the happenings in the world at large. But it was worth it.

We discover new things each exchange that can be helpful in streamlining/improving and this one proved no different. We'll be polling all participants for their input on the specific changes we have in mind for next exchange, so expect to see that in the coming weeks. For now, though, we thank each and every one -- reader, authors and artists for their efforts.

The masterlist is ready (\o/) but the special gifts we intend to present before the reveals are not. One of the moddies is having technical difficulties (*cough*scannerissues*cough) and the other moddy is having medical difficulties (so what else is new, right?) so we decided someone is trying to tell us something (or maybe just laughing at us) and take that as a sign we need a one day delay.
