I'm busy reading and keep meaning to rec some of my newly read favorites!  Alas, I'm so behind...

Here are a few note-worthy from the </a></b></a>[info]hp_beholder fest.  I love the creativity and short length of these fics.  I’ve probably only read a scant quarter of the submissions but the overall quality so far is good.  I already recced my gift, Minotauros. ...Gregory Goyle takes care of Rabastan LeStrange in Azkaban, but I’ll point again!  Enjoy!

I just finished reading The Art and Science of Change, a wonderful Snape/McGonagall pairing.  This fic very masterfully weaves multiple story threads into a seamless portrait of the long-term association of these two characters.  Minerva retires to a quiet seaside cottage to write a definitive text on animagi, and she reminisces on her relationship with Severus Snape.

In A Game of Fox and Hounds, Rita Skeeter is on the trail of Severus Snape.  She's determined to scoop his biography.  In a game of cat and mouse these two masters of manipulation square off.  Excellent characterizations, witty dialog and plot device, and hot, hot, hot smutty encounter!  Serious writerly craftsmanship in evidence here...

A bit of a dark fic pairs young Snape with Ollivander.  The premise of A Lesson in Wandlore is intriguing and plausible, and the characterizations are well wrought. (Ollivander is particularly compelling)  The piece is moody and evocative and somewhat haunting.  Very creative work.

In All the Ways We See the author renders Rabastan LeStrange as a mentally challenged yet gifted son whose worth to his Death Eater father is questionable at best.  The author’s sketch of him, his POV, and his encounter with Snape are handled with a deftness and grace that is strangely moving.  A very memorable work.

It's Fic Rec Day again - the week goes so fast! Too fast...

I've been trying to keep up with [info]pervy_werewolf's Lusty Month of May Challenge. I discovered, on the first day, that there was NO WAY I could read & comment on all the entries, so I started following a few stories that grabbed me. They happen to be (coincidence - NOT!) snupins, except for one Remus/Bill/Neville that caught my eye.

1. [info]snapelike"s Diary of a Death Eater Whore - a very interesting fic, with a dominant Remus & a submissive Severus. BDSM. It's interesting watching Severus take one step forward & two steps back in this inventive & original fic set in a world where Voldemort was defeated, but the Death Eaters were victorious, with Lucius Malfoy becoming the Minister of Magic, And all former enemies of the Death eaters forced into exile or enforced marriage - or into prostitution! Enter Remus Lupin, the favorite whore of many a Death Eater. And Severus Snape, the new Minister's most trusted assistant.

2. [info]bonfoi's Werewolf Eyes - A desperate Severus is frantically trying to find a way to help his lover, Remus, who lies unconscious, caught up by twisted magics in a grotesque 1/2 wolf, 1/2 man form.

3. [info]westernredcedar's 1979 - a good year for Remus, a rotten year for Remus! Things are not going smoothly, as Remus tries to connect with Severus, who he longs for - read & enjoy! A bonus is the annoyingly appealing Sirius.


4. And one snarry rec from the [info]snarry_games - [info]klynie1's The Ghostwriter

As my shoulder/arm is much to sore to continue typing, next week I'll rec some of the other LMoM stories I've been following!

This is the Sign-up post for the Snapedom Summer Fest 2008.

If you have an ij account and/or are a snapedom member (Underground), you can sign up in a separate post or here.
If you don't have an ij account, please sign up by leaving a comment to this post.

When?

The Sign-ups will start on May 10th and go until May 25th.
Assignments will be given out from May 25th to May 31st.
You can post your fic and art (or pictures from the project) from June 1st until August 31st.

Notes: Posting this for Ehmaz who is gifting me this fic because I beta'ed her fic Moonshadow and this one as well. She is too busy writing more chapters to do it herself (or lazy:D). I requested a post-war AU where the Light wins and Snape uses up all his money to buy a farm where Lupin is coerced into helping him (optional: a barn full of magical creatures and a pet).

Summary: After the war, Severus has hit rock-bottom and seeks to end it all - only to find he has a very unusual and unexpected guardian angel who steps in for an intervention.

This is a beautiful story based on the classic movie "It's a Wonderful Life," rewritten Snupin-style. The war has ended, and Snape is a pariah in the wizarding world. His wand and home have been confiscated by the Ministry, and he is destitute and homeless, and about to commit suicide.
