Three Scans From Detective 824
I had thought that all of Zee's appearances from Dini's run on 'Tec had been posted. I was wrong; her first showing was neglected.

Zee's other appearance in 'Tec have already been posted: Detective Comics 833, 834, 843, & 844, Detective Comics 847, and Detective Comics 850.

The art is excellent, but it must be one of those guys who loves to draw women and neglects the men. Zee is pretty, but I didn't recognize Bruce until I read the tags.

I need a make on a magician. Houdini-style. Not Fate.

Two problems. One, why drop Fate's name when you're talking to Zee? I guess it's ok since Fate doesn't work Vegas. Two, I think it should be either "magician", someone who uses magic spells, or "stage magician", someone who uses sleight of hand and other optical tricks. D&D always got it wrong -- sorcerers, witches, warlocks, wizards are all types of "magician", not "magic-user" or "wizard", although "mage" kind of works in a more informal way. I realize Zee is both, so it's definitely good to qualify, so ... "I need a make on a stage magician." Picky jerk shutting up now.

I believe the resolution to your one issue is in your other. When he says "Houdini-style. Not Fate," that's a single concept... he wants a magician in the style of Houdini, not a magician in the style of Fate. A stage magician, not a magic magician.

Yeah, I got it that Fate is not also a stage magician. Don't mind me, it's just that I've hated the term "magic-user" for too long.

I see. M'apologies.

(In D&D I've always been a fan of "arcanist," which conveniently side-steps the issue of arcane vs divine as well.)

I read that as "not fake," as in someone who actually works to get out of traps and such, and it's not, er, staged. And I'm back to confusing myself.
