Zatanna talks Bat/Cat
Continuing on the belief that one week of Bat/Cat isn't enough....
 From Tec 847

Zee and Selina have a heart to heart about who really owns Bruce's heart.

The second part of the absolutely amazing Heart of Hush series. If you don't own it now, GET IT!!! It's now collected as a hardcover.
Remember when they talk about what should good comics be? This, thissssssss is it.

How much do I love that when Zee's not in costume, she's wearing sweats? Sooooo sooo much love. Thanks Dini -- that's a real woman for ya.

And Hush knows how to exploit it...

Paul Dini + Dustin Nguyen (and Derek Fridolfs) = A huge bowl of awesomesauce.

Yay! Dini's pet ship is ok in my book as long as it doesn't break the OTP.

retro's list:

1. Dini
2. Simone
3. everyone else

Zee's a little optimistic, there's only an Ace in Bruce's future... :)

Shouldn't Dixon rank a #3 slot? Otherwise, agreed 100%.

You're absolutely right, the list has been amended accordingly.

I dunno, Selina, I think Diana would be more amused than anything. Dinah would probably ask for a turn of her own.

And it can't just be me who cannot get over Selina's poor grammar, there, right? If you're going to end a sentence in a preposition, no big deal. Rules like that are pretty meaningless in casual conversation. If you're going to use the word "whom," also no big deal. Proper use of the objective case is always of the good.

But don't do both at once! Augh! Either be formal or be casual, but do not put "whom" in a sentence you're planning on ending in a preposition! Following the one nitpicky rule only emphasizes the fact that you're not following the other! It sounds wrong!

(I only nitpick myself because if I expressed the SO MUCH LOVE I have for this, I'd run out of comment space.)

I think when Zatanna tells them that Selina called Diana and the others girl scouts, Diana will have a merry little laugh and say, "If anything calls for a drink, that would be it." Dinah will say, "I guess everyone's a scout to Selina Stickyfingers," and Diana will spray the table with Cabernet Sauvignon.

What's really funny, is this is all post-OYL, so Selina knows about the Max thing. And still considers Diana a "girl scout." She really does have a strange definition of the word.

I counter your nitpick with my own nitpick.

The "don't end a sentence with a preposition" rule is not a natural part of the English language. No, it was invented by pedants in the 1800s with nothing better to do with their time other than circlejerk to the Latin language and shoehorn aspects of it into the "inferior" English language. Most experts nowadays disown this silly rule.

... and strict adherence to the objective case in the use of who/whom is an unnecessary and extraneous fixture in an evolving language that has primarily left it behind.

Both are exactly the same level of legitimate. Both are exactly the same level of meaningless. Being particular about one while ignoring the other is awkward and dumb. Either use both, or use neither, because either you care about the rules, or you don't.

I love Heart of Hush so much, Dini did a fantastic job of tying up loose ends, and not just his, but also repairing Batman's relationship with Zee. I like that he didn't force the two together either, and Zatanna's laidback attitude here is so cool. Dustin Nguyen's art is so great too, can't wait to see him on Streets of Gotham.

I'm so ridiculously glad he did that. A lot of writers equate highly moral with unreasonable, which is seriously irritating. He couldn't possibly have a relationship with Selina (or pre!death Jason, for that matter) if he didn't know how to deal with people he cared about making decisions he didn't like. That doesn't necessarily mean he completely trusts her now, but he's not going to be all sanctimonious about it.

Yeah, Dr. Strange is working at White Castle and Etrigan is giving head in the alley next to Zatanna's.

You ever receive fellatio from a rhyming demon? It's a bad scene man.

Which is why that option should be available to any willing to take it.

In fact, there should be fang-faced, firebreathing demons on every streetcorner offering to pay 100 dollars to give blowjobs. The gene pool would be vastly better off without anyone incapable of thinking it through.

More Zatanna in the Bat Universe, please. I know that she's getting her own ongoing, but I'd love for her to be in Streets of Gotham on a semi-frequently basis.

I was half-expecting Hush to make comments about Zee's "very small hands" and "smelling of cabbage."
