Positive Comics Week: A tale of Batman
Greetings, [info]scans_daily!

It's been about eight months since I discovered s_d back on LJ, and since I'm going to be busy soon I thought I'd make my first contribution now. It also fits nicely with Positive Comics Week (which is still on, yes? Till the 20th, at least?).

This is from Batman: Gotham Adventures #22. It's seven pages from a 22-page book.

(It's bigger and clearer in context, honestly)

Tim has just gotten back to the cave from a night on the job. He says of Batman, "the second he saw the old lady get carjacked, he was off" and notes that Batman was "a man on a mission". However, he wants to know why, despite all that, Batman "doesn't take a minute to make sure the person's okay. It's like he's always Batman and never Bruce Wayne. All hero and no human." He hastens to add that he's not really criticizing Bruce, but that he just doesn't get it.

This is where Alfred steps in with a story, starting with when Dick first moved to the Manor. He says that Bruce didn't know how to act around a child, having not been around children and since "he'd hardly been a child himself". However, Bruce could certainly relate to the nightmares little Dick had every night. Thus Bruce takes it upon himself to do something about them and disappears for a few days.

Note: in the pages that follow, the ones with colour are present-day action and the sepia-toned ones are illustrations for what Alfred is telling Tim.

It turns out that Bruce was looking for Haley's Circus, which was apparently the source of Dick's nightmares.

Meanwhile, Bruce (on foot) has chased down the man/one of the men who tried to carjack the old lady he and Tim saved. The guy was driving near the docks, and Batman's sudden appearance in front of him causes him to slam on the brakes, sending the car off the nearest pier and into the sea.

:D

Awwww. ♥

And there it is :D. Hope you enjoyed the story and that all the scans were legible.

Aw, that's sweet.

Batman: "I saved your dog. Here you go."

Old woman: :D

Batman: "Sorry he's wet. That's because I also caused your car-jacker to crash your car into the river, nearly killing your dog in the process."

Old woman: D:
