Hey, guess what one of James Robinson's fantasies is?
Cry for Justice a Threesome! BoP fans get ready.

From DC's The Source

WTF? At one point I was actually excited for this book. Stop messing with my BoP, sir.

The continuity nerd in me can actually place when this could've happened. Remember when drunk-out-of-her-gourd Zinda took a frikkin' cab cross-country to put up a pic of her and Barda on the Memorial Wall at that bar outside of Edwards AFB? And Helena had to pick her up? Hal and Cowgirl were having a drink there when Zinda barged in.

I kinda like this. Makes Hal less "holier than thou". Mind you, never having read BoP I can't judge whether this would be extremely OOC for Huntress and Lady Blackhawk >_>

I like Hal. I really do. Got no problems with Geoff Johns writing of him. Hey, not enough hero-worship for me! And I've been cheerleading for a UST type one-off meeting between Lady Blackhawk and Hal--they're perfect for it, he would totally keep a poster of her.

But I find this painful. It screams awkward male bonding through a not very well told sex story. Then the silly build-up. PLEASE! Less is more. And I had to physically pull myself out of the story for a mental smack at that last line. Bad phrasing, bad scene focus!

WTF Robinson?

Helena and Linda slept with Hal? Wow, from what I read of them in BOP, I thought they'd have better taste then that.

Ollie's "Well played, sir" does make me laugh, though. :D

I can see Zinda/Hal. They'd be at a bar, and they'd get to drinking, and she'd go home with him. She's far too interesting for him, but he's a fellow pilot so she might hang out with him and he can teach her about all the modern aircraft.

Zinda/Hal/Helena, not at all.

Where's my slash equivalent?

Babs: Really, Dinah?
Dinah: Whatever do you mean?
Babs: Hal, I can see. Sure, he's dull as a post but good lord that derriere. Ollie ... no, I can't see it, but you like him for some reason. But the two of them at the same time?
Dinah: HOW DID YOU KNOW?
Babs: -spooky Oracle face-
Dinah: I'd rather be known for the mobsters I took down.

then later

Dinah: It was actually kinda boring.
Babs: Really?
Dinah: Yeah, they were faking being drunk and sort of just ignoring me. I left halfway through to go make a sandwhich.

I've heard that the Hal being a womanizer is pure retcon. Number of girlfriends I count Pre-Rebirth are:

Carol Ferris
Arisia
Kari Limbo
Olivia Reynolds
Power Girl

....which if my numbers are right or even 1 or 2 off, are still average compared to the some of the other DCU men (clark, bruce, Dick, Kyle, all have had 3 or more s/o's).

Ugh. I hope this "joke" is never referenced again. I expected better than Robinson than this (and if the situations were reversed i.e. a female talking about a man it never would have been written). If BoP was still being published, something tells me its editor (be it Joan Hilty or someone else) would have never let this slide (not being in character from either Zinda or Helena). I also expect better from Hal as well, since his return from the dead the only one he's been involved with is Cowgirl, he's even rebuffed Carol because of it.

The worse thing is I can't see Huntress involved in a threesome, especially since her character development from Gail in BoP, that was the whole point of the Josh one-night stand, to have her get more respect for herself and her body and not be someone who puts out just because. It's similar to when she guest-starred in Outsiders (when Gail was first using her in BoP). The whole sex with Roy thing in Outsiders (written by Winnick IIRC) was basically just to use her as a sexual joke between Dick and Roy, since they both "had her". Since then she's evolved tremendously and now that she's not co-starring in her own title, she seems to be fair game again. Now she's being used as another sexual joke between two male heroes. Ugh again.
