Ultimatum #4

Strange gets the special Ed McGuinness variant for this issue, so like Dazzler, Professor X, and Hank Pym, he's a goner. This doesn't bode well for Wolverine, who's the McGuinness variant for #5.

Sabretooth kills Angel.

And Valkyrie cuts off Magneto's arm, before he apparently kills her.

EDIT: Oops, turns out I was wrong. I guess he does doesn't actually kill her; she appears alive on the next page when Cap comes, but she was only in a small part of the page so I missed her. It makes sense he wouldn't kill off his pet character like that.

The whole point was to boost some excitement about the Ultimate U, right? And I don't think I've seen a person yet who even if they found it tolerable, actually found it anything to get *excited* about.

I mean, the new books should sell; Bendis on Ultimate S-M always sold, Millar on Ultimates always sold even when it got lame, and even though it's Leob, New Ultimates will have Cho and thus should sell. But you could have had all of that *without* the putrid Big Event.

Actually, I should correct that; I did see someone over on comments on an IGN review that was excited. Because they had always hated the Ultimate universe and their pseudo-tough guy rip off style, and was enjoying watching them all mutilated.

I don't think that's going to get them any new sales in the rebooted universe, though.
