Ultimatum #4

Strange gets the special Ed McGuinness variant for this issue, so like Dazzler, Professor X, and Hank Pym, he's a goner. This doesn't bode well for Wolverine, who's the McGuinness variant for #5.

Sabretooth kills Angel.

And Valkyrie cuts off Magneto's arm, before he apparently kills her.

EDIT: Oops, turns out I was wrong. I guess he does doesn't actually kill her; she appears alive on the next page when Cap comes, but she was only in a small part of the page so I missed her. It makes sense he wouldn't kill off his pet character like that.

Ultimate Valkyrie is basically a valley-girl who Thor gave powers to because they were dating.

Ok perhaps so, but she still did a pretty nice sidestep and slice maneuver just a few seconds before, against a healthy enemy, so she's clearly faster than he is. She had plenty of room to maneuver, so it shouldn't even have been remotely difficult to simply backpedal out of reach until the guy ran out of adrenaline and/or blood and passed out from his injuries. Really, almost anything besides "stand there looking dumbstruck" would have probably won her that fight.

But as Tavella said, I'm probably putting more thought into that single sequence than Loeb put into the entire book.

Yay for only a flesh wound! She was entirely too meow to die.
