Ok perhaps so, but she still did a pretty nice sidestep and slice maneuver just a few seconds before, against a healthy enemy, so she's clearly faster than he is. She had plenty of room to maneuver, so it shouldn't even have been remotely difficult to simply backpedal out of reach until the guy ran out of adrenaline and/or blood and passed out from his injuries. Really, almost anything besides "stand there looking dumbstruck" would have probably won her that fight.
But as Tavella said, I'm probably putting more thought into that single sequence than Loeb put into the entire book.
