Kory, Raven, Dick, and not too much clothing
From the New Teen Titans #39, January 1988 - my formative comics years - comes some fun Edwardo Barretto art.

Oh yes, and there's a story too - Raven is able to feel emotions, falls for Dick Grayson, and seems to be trying to make him fall in love with her as well. Kory provides some emotional counselling in Tahiti for her, and while they're away, Dick moves in with Kory. Various relationship talks are had while lying around not fully dressed.





We start the comic with:





Dick! Dick! Dick! Dick! ...



I did mention not many clothes, right?

In the interests of space, removed a few pages showing Raven happily making people happy, and Kory requesting to talk to Raven. They teleport to Tahiti...









In the rest of the issue, Raven goes to a party held by other Titans (I do believe Terry Long is there), and Kory and Dick discuss how her marriage with Karras is really just a peace treaty.

Sigh - I miss Kory and Dick as a couple... They just always made sense to me.

I'm sure there's a Robin and bondage comment I could make here (Something about a lot of people bonding over Robin if they remember to bring the cholorform and ropes), but it's Monday morning and for the life of me I can't think of one.

Now, I know next to nothing about Starfire OR Raven, but damn, why aren't they married?

On a side note, it must be dreadfully disconcerting to have those long, romantic stares with Starfire. You'd probably end up focusing on her nostrils, which are the closest things she has to pupils....

Raven and Kory's Caribbean retreat looks steamy; I love Kory in this issue. I've always found her to be ridiculously endearing.

This may be a little strange but Raven was pretty much my favourite Titan when I was a kid. You know, I never cared for Dick/Kory despite liking both of them (sidenote: Dick is the only Dick I can call "Dick" without giggling inappropriately)

Dick is REALLY lucky to be next to Kory when he wakes up here - she's probably the one girlfriend on the planet who wouldn't have slapped the living daylights out of him when he woke up talking about making love to someone else in his dreams. You better thank your lucky stars that love ISN'T just between two people on Tamaran, Dick, or you'd be walking home in your underwear right now. (If that.)
Raven is really pretty touching here - most people grow up with their emotions, and learn to handle them that way, but she's having to deal with them all at once after years of enforced frigidity. It's no wonder she's a tad overwrought.

Kory and Dick couldn't be written as being any more fanboy- and fangirl-bair than in this story, right?

The last panel is a little distressing. Kory must be as bendy as Dick to be able to bend so far back. Out of curiosity: the DC wiki says Kory is 6'4'', and I wonder, does that include the hair?

Have to say, aside from anything else, I've just fallen in love with your icon! Cypher forever! (Even if my sad inner geek remembers that it's from the page where Kitty reads the "Thank you" note from Doug's parents saying saying they understood why she couldn't be at his funeral :( )

This is a fun soap-opera-ish story, featuring three friends who actually care about each other (And also probably fantasise about every permutation of group nookie it's possible to have between a girl who evolved from a cat, the world's greatest acrobat (and the eponymous "Bendy Robin") and a woman who's mastery of meditation probably makes her a tantric master just waiting to happen!)

Why can't we have nice sunny stories like this nowadays? pouts...

I don't know which is worse, Kory's beach outfit or Raven's "Flashdance" sweatshirt.

The whole interlude of them swimming and talking seems is like the compendium of dozens of bad fan fics. I've seen a lot Donna/Kory shipping is there a lot of Kory/Raven?

Surely Kory does everything not fully dressed. In fact if Kory is involved I take it for granted that she will, in fact, be wearing very little XD

Also, notice how Kory is checking Raven out while she's under the waterfall? Smooth, Kory.

I'm new to DC comics and I'm curious: if Kory and Dick where such a solid couple (which they seem to be in these pages), what happened to split them up?

I really miss Dick/Kory. And Raven being sweet and sensitive. Actually, I just miss all of the Wolfman/Perez era (apart from Terry Long)

The art...is so...pretty! I can't stop staring at how pretty Dick is (sans ponytail, hurray!) Not macho or beefcake or in any of his horrible Discowing outfits, but really well-defined and cuddly and wearing jeans and white shirts...exposing forearms of pr0n! *fans self* *has love affair with Dick's manly mansome hands*

The only reason I could concentrate on the story is because Starfire is so hilariously intent on persuading Dick to have a threesome. And my god, Raven and Kory - the femmeslash writes itself.

Thanks for posting this. I never had a problem with the Dick/Kory years but now I see that they really worked together. They certainly do make more sense than Dick/Babs (which used to be my OTP till DC killed it dead and then continued to descrate its lurching corpse). It's interesting that Dick went from dating the most openly passionate woman on the planet to the most repressed woman on the planet. And neither of them worked. Maybe he should try some middle ground next, eh, Dick?

Dick steps out of the threesome to catch his breath, which is just long enough to appreciate EXACTLY what a Tamaranean felinoid and a half demon empath are capable of doing to each other when they set their minds to it.

Part of me always thought that Kory was thinking somewhere in the back of her mind, "I gotta get this crazy bitch off of my Kool-Aid." Maybe she's just so nice that it causes a wave of paranoia.

Or she just wants Raven for herself. Plausible, considering their frolicking under a waterfall.
