NEW TITANS #101: Dick vs. Roy
I thought I'd post one of the earliest Dick Grayson vs. Roy Harper fights I know of, and send out a request for other "Dick vs. Roy" brawls.

In NEW TITANS #101 (the TEEN had been dropped), Sgt. Steel has contacted Arsenal saying he doesn't want Nightwing in charge of the Titans anymore. Nightwing is still angry over his wedding to Starfire going so wrong and Kori going into a coma.

"Superheroes in Metropolis, Gotham City, Central City, Star City, etc. is one thing. But regular people live in New York!"

How long did Wally have those big white coverings on his eyes? I remember his getting them in FLASH #50 with a more "metallic" costume, but not when he got rid of them.

Pantha had a lot to learn about tact, although she did know that a crazy person shouldn't be in charge. The X-Men learned that about Wolverine ages ago.

Checkmate do something unethical? Nooo.

Well, I'm certain that if Roy explains everything to Dick in a calm and rational way... Ah, who am I kidding?

Dick isn't wearing the disco suit, but it isn't quite sold black with a few blue lines yet either.

The government running superhero teams? Well, we all know *that* could never happen in a mainstream comic book.

So, wait. Roy being a drug addict is why he would "give in" to the government? Of course, during CIVIL WAR Captain America seemed to say that Tony's alcoholism was the reason he was "giving in" to the big bad government.

Violence will solve everything!

So, Dick sees a genuine difference of opinion as treason. He learned a lot from Batman, didn't he? Of course, Batman doesn't have "friends" since they always turn on you.

"Sat up all night while you were detoxing?" I think Marv Wolfman might be playing a little fast and loose with DC History here.

Wait, Dick thinks Bruce was wrong about something? Wow.

Dick leaves, telling Donna "Batman also taught me never to wear out my welcome."

Are there any more Nightwing vs. Arsenal fights out there?

First off, everyone is wearing silly pants it seems.

Dick and Roy were never together during his drug story, but I always figure that was mostly because DC didn't want Robin anywhere near a drug story, so I can accept MW retroactively saying that of course his friends supported him and we didn't see it.

Finally, I hope one day Tim and Dick bond over the times they both went kinda crazy when people died during their formative years.

Some retroactive flashbacks about how the Teen Titans and the Justice League reacted to Roy doing heroin would be cool.

Or how about when Bruce died?
Or is that just wishful thinking? The bonding, I mean. Not the dying.

::sigh:: Wishful thinking on the bonding so far, dammit.

IIRC it has now been amended so that Dick did help Roy through his withdrawal.

Yes, I believe Marv Wolfman first had Dick mention helping Roy through heroin withdrawal in the story he wrote about them for Action Comics when DC published it weekly. The story when the two of them chased down Cheshire and Lian. So by this time it was well established.
