Sometimes I don't think anyone does. I'm always being told talk to Jason, talk to Damian, talk to Babs about your feelings, Steph isn't doing well so talk to her too. But I don't know what the hell to do.

So I try to keep things cool with Jason, I try to keep my distance from Babs, I try reassure Steph I'm fine so she doesn't worry over everything, and Damian I take out partying and leave boxes of kid cereal and bananas on his porch. Because apparently surface level bullshit is all anyone is capable of so I may as well jump on the bandwagon.

It means being a good parent, being present, letting Babs do what she wants to do, giving up the things that I want so they can have everything they deserve.

I've never been good at looking after Babs, I've never been good at being careful with her or her feelings. I've never been a very good boyfriend and I know I'm still not. And she hasn't experienced any of that, the age difference seems more pronounced now than it ever did. She's always been older than me, I'm damn near ten years older than her and she doesn't know the kinds of things we've been through. She has a huge life in front of her.

I don't know how to NOT be Nightwing, but she needs to do her thing. And I want to, for once, be able to put my shit aside. And if we are both out running around risking our lives, and something happens to one or both of us, aren't I just...Repeating history? My kid isn't losing his/her parents. Its not happening.

Just for starters....

It's an understandable fear, that if you're both out risking your lives... something might happen. But you don't have to give up everything that makes you you. There must be middle ground.
