It was hard to resist wearing everything he'd gotten her for Christmas. But with the ridiculous amount of diamonds weighing her down, she'd sink into the snow and be lost forever, she was sure. So she stuck to the simpler things. The first necklace he gave her, that was a given, it was welded on after all. It was also simple and easy. She also gave in and wore the huge diamond he'd gotten her, even though she had squealed with how expensive it was. The rest were hidden in a little flat box between her mattress and box spring. Not that she expected to be robbed, but she wasn't taking chances. Had this been before everything that had happened to her, she might have simply left them out in a little jewelry box. But he wasn't nearly as trusting as she had once been.
She bundled herself up, a cute little cashmere sweater starting off, topping it off with a thin jacket at first, then layering on a faux fur jacket, then finally topping that with her trench coat to keep the rest of her layers dry. She didn't put any layers on her bottom half, simply stuffed her feet in a pair of furry snow shoes. She'd been tempted to wear the boots Robin had gotten for Christmas but the thought of sinking into the ground with the heals had kept her from doing it. Finally she slipped on her earmuff headband, and the scarf Sirius had given her, then mittens, the ring keeping her from wearing gloves. Checking herself over, she felt like she were forgetting something, even though he had told her to simply bring herself over.
With a shake of her head she gave up. It wasn't as if she were miles away. If she forgot anything important she'd come back for it. She couldn't stand another minute away. Shoving her way out the front door, the only thing that kept her from running to cabin two was the slick surface of the path. She did move as quickly as she dared, if the snow hadn't been so deep on either side she might have been tempted to move through the drifts.
Skittering through the slight build up of snow between the walk way and his front step. She stomped on the porch the bit of snow that reached over her boots seeped into her jeans. She pounded the snow from the fronts of her boots.
