"That's a tough one," he admitted somewhat reluctantly. "At the moment, no." He added that, meeting her gaze. She was, after all, a large part of what he liked about this place. "If I knew things got better, maybe. But I can't see how they could, not where she was concerned anyway."
He laughed quietly at her misunderstanding of what he meant. "This was no little white lie. I was undercover, Legs. She thought I was someone I'm not. I simply made the mistake of letting myself get too close to her." He dipped his head in thanks at her point, when she placed her hand on his chest.
