What: Kate tells Jason how she feels

Kate really couldn’t believe what was happening, the past week had kind of happened all in a blur. First she ended up kissing Jason and realizing that she was in love with him, still in love with him but she didn’t have the nerve to tell Jamie about it right away. Kate wasn’t sure why, part of her wanted to stay with Jamie because he was safe. What they had going was a good thing, she knew that he cared about her and she cared about him, too. Kate was still unsure of how Jason felt about her, even though she distinctly remembered him saying that he would always love her, but who knew what kind of love he meant? Besides the initial burst of tears that Kate had right after Jason left her dorm that day, she managed to act pretty normal for the rest of the week when around her friends and Jamie. Then Jamie invited her to a celebration dinner Kate went, but it was a little bit harder for her to act normal because Nicole was there. Kate’s feelings about Nicole were very conflicted. Generally she liked the girl, she was nice and had never done anything personally mean to Kate, besides date Jason and now suddenly strike up a friendship with Jamie. Kate’s jealousy over Jamie and Nicole becoming friends confused her even more, and prolonged Kate’s ability to make up her mind or even decide when or what she wanted to tell Jamie.

And then Jamie and Kate were back in her dorm in her bed room and it didn’t take long for them get start getting physical, and that was when Kate realized, or just let it pop out, that she was still in love with Jason and couldn’t be with Jamie. He took it a lot better then Kate thought he would, she even wanted him to be angry with her, to yell at her because she felt so bad, but he did the complete opposite, which just proved how great of a guy Jamie really was.

By the time all of that was sorted out and Kate as alone again and not crying it was getting close to two in the morning, but she needed to talk to Jason and she needed to talk to him now. After throwing a sweater on, Kate ran full speed down to her car and headed to Jason’s apartment, not even taking into consideration how late it was and that he was probably sleeping. She sped the entire way to Jason’s house, parked in visitor’s parking and then ran up to where his apartment was, knocking on the door when she arrived. Kate fidgeted in front of his door and when he didn’t answer right away she knocked again, but harder. When he didn’t answer for a second time Kate practically pounded on his door, attempting to catch her breath at the same time but not doing too well at it.

Kate’s nerves had gone so wild that it was getting hard for her to talk without rambling about something else and distracting herself. Jason’s pyjama pants proved that, but luckily she managed to push herself on track. Kate needed to stay on track, and she needed to tell Jason how she felt. Now that she was standing there talking to him there was no turning back. She had broken up with Jamie, told Jamie that she was still in love with Jason and now she just needed to tell Jason. For the second time in her life she was unsure of how Jason would react to what she had to say, and she honestly couldn’t blame him if he didn’t love her anymore. She had dumped him over a year ago, she was the one who gave up on them and he had plenty of time to get over her and move on. Kate had thought she moved on when she found Jamie, but obviously it was just something that she had talked herself into and couldn’t realize that until she saw Jason again.

If Kate wasn’t so distracted by what she was going to say she would of noticed the worried look that come across Jason’s face and reassured him that she was fine. But she didn’t and just kept on pacing for a bit trying to calm herself down. “No. I am not OK,” Kate finally said, shaking her head but not being able to look at Jason right away. Kate definitely wasn’t OK, she was confused, scared, nervous and even more scared. She didn’t know what she was going to do if Jason didn’t love her anymore. Well, she would probably crawl into a little hole and never come out again. That is what she would do.

“All right,” Kate said, stopping herself in front of Jason and pacing her hands on his shoulders for a second to keep herself still. Her hands then went to her sides but soon enough Kate was picking at her nails while she looked at Jason. “I broke up with Jamie because I am still in love with you, Jason,” Kate said, the words coming out a bit easier for her once she actually got the sentence formed. “I have been in love with you since the island, and after we broke up I just talked myself into thinking I could get over you because I didn’t think I would ever be able to see you again, but that just wasn’t possible for me and I came to realize that when you came to Providence.” Once she had gotten that all out Kate still there for a second and then nodded her head quickly. “Yeah. There.”

Kate's pacing wasn't slowing and it wasn't stopping, and Jason just kept getting more concerned. Did something happen? Did Jamie do something to her? He'd kill him if he did. Well, maybe not. Jason wasn't exactly the most aggressive man in the world, but he'd definitely confront Jamie if it was something Jamie did. Did Jamie cheat on her? Kate deserved so much better than that. These thoughts were whirring through Jason's head, and he wished Kate would just say something. And then, she started saying that she wasn't okay. Fuck, what did Jamie do to her?! Jason wouldn't be able to just ignore it if he did do something. He loved Kate, and he thought she deserved the absolute best in the world.

Raising a brow as Kate stopped pacing and put her hands on his shoulders, Jason nodded once. "All right," he repeated, furrowing his brow as she removed her hands from his shoulders and then started playing with her nails, like she usually did when nervous. Jason was about to just tell her to spill, to tell him, but then Kate started talking. Jason heard the words she said, but he couldn't comprehend the meaning behind them. He was shocked, to say the least, that she was admitting to still being in love with him. Jason was positive that any hope he had of being with her again had completely died. Jason opened his mouth to say something, but he just closed it again after a minute. He stared at her for a few moments, not even thinking about what this might look like to her. He took another drag off his cigarette, and then ran a hand over his face as he blew the smoke out of his lungs. "Um ... wow," he finally managed, glancing out over the balcony.

Jason couldn't think of what to say. He couldn't get his mind to work to form some kind of a reply to her. He wanted to tell he that he loved her too, that he never stopped. He wanted to wrap his arms around her and kiss her like he'd never kissed her before. But his mind couldn't stop repeating her statement over and over again in his head, as if trying to figure out if this was real, or if this was something his mind was making up to keep him happy.

Once Kate had spit the words out she couldn’t take them back, or do anything about what she said but wait to see what Jason’s reaction was going to be. She didn’t even know what she was going to expect, it wasn’t like you confessed your love for someone every day and got to know what people’s reactions were. Well, Kate didn’t confess her love to anyone. She was terrible at talking about feelings in general, and Jason was the only person that she had ever been in love with and been able to be open with about it. Jason was different, that was for sure. She had gone from not being able to keep up a relationship for more then three months, let alone talk about how she felt to falling head over heels in love with Jason within just a few months of dating him and then being with him for a year. They would have been together longer if it wasn’t for Kate going to school. Who knew, maybe they would still be together now? Kate liked to think that, but she would never know.

And then Jason reacted. Or well, didn’t really react at all. Kate watched his face, taking in every detail of how he looked trying to figure out what he might be thinking or feeling because she had gotten to know him so well, but his face seemed almost blank. Kate was waiting for him to speak, and the suspense was killing her, and when he finally did speak Kate was a little less then impressed. Wow? That was all he could say was Wow? What?! Kate stood there, shocked as well trying to comprehend what he just said and the meaning behind it. Wow was what you said when you were trying to be nice, like when you were trying to let someone down easy. Oh wow. I am really flattered that you think that, but I just don’t feel the same way.. Kate was expecting Jason to say something like that, but when he didn’t say anything at all it just made her feel even worse, and she could feel the tears threatening to immerge again. He didn’t love her, and that made Kate feel like absolute shit.

After standing in silence for a few seconds just staring at Jason, Kate finally took a step back and looked around. “Um, all right,” she said, her voice already starting to sound shaky. Kate suddenly had to blink back a few tears, so she knew that she had to get out of there, and fast. “Well, I am going to crawl into a hole now,” she found herself saying before turning and heading back inside and to his front door. Kate would of left right away, but she had kicked off her runners, and now had to try and untie them and put them back on before she could leave. Kate was tempted to just walk out to her car in her socks, but didn’t think that would be too warm. She was bent over attempting to shove her feet into her shoes as fast as possible while the tears started streaming down her face.

Jason was shit when it came to expressing emotions or telling someone how you felt. Well, with the one exception of Kate, and that had been awhile ago. Back when they were together on the island, they'd both admitted their feelings for each other, and then it became the easiest thing to say to each other. Whenever he was leaving her room, or saying goodbye to her on the phone or whatever, the last thing he'd say was 'I love you'. So why was it so hard for his brain to work right now? He kept replaying her words over and over, hearing what she had said to him in his head, and when he finally got his brain to actually work, and snapped out of his trance-like state, he realized that Kate was gone.

For a moment, Jason assumed that he'd hallucinated the whole thing, and then he glanced in the open door of his balcony to see Kate by the door, pulling on his shoes. 'Don't let her leave, you fucking moron,' he thought, and he took a last drag off his cigarette before throwing it over the balcony. He didn't care that he wasn't supposed to do that, he was just supposed to put the cigarette out in an ashtray. But right now that was the last thing on his mind. He needed to get inside to Kate before she left. Stepping inside, Jason pulled the glass door shut. "Kate," he called, hoping to get her attention before she left.

Seeing her bent over her shoes, Jason let out a sigh of relief. She hadn't left yet. His jackassery wouldn't cost him the only thing in the world that he wanted. Coming up behind her, Jason placed a hand on her back. "Kate, stand up. Look at me," he told her, his hand moving up to her shoulders to gently pull her up and turn her to face him. Once she was standing up, Jason put a hand under her chin, tilting her head up so she was looking at him. "I'm sorry for how I acted out there," he started, gesturing to the balcony. "You kind of ... I don't know, you took me by surprise, that's all," he told her. Clearing his throat, he watched her for a second, trying to form the words in his head to say to her. "I ... I never stopped loving you," he said softly, his fingers caressing her cheek gently and wiping away her tears before he leaned down to press his lips against hers.

Fucking shoes! Why did Kate think that she needed to take her shoes off when she obviously wanted a quick get away. And why did she have to tie them so tight that it was near impossible to get them untied to put back on again? Kate didn’t know, but it was frustrating and pissing her off since she wanted to get out of Jason’s apartment and back to her car as soon as possible. She didn’t want him to see her cry, and she didn’t want to face him until she managed to get hid of the terrible feeling in the pit of her stomach, and the tear in her heart. She had tried to prepare herself for this kind of out come, but now that it was happening she knew that there was nothing in the world that could prepare someone for what she was feeling right now. Kate had felt rejection before, but nothing like this.

Then Jason was calling her, and Kate ignored him and went on in attempting to get her shoes on. He was probably just going to apologize more or something and right now Kate just didn’t want to hear it. She couldn’t face Jason and she just wanted to go to her dorm room and be alone so she could cry like a girl for a while. That was all she wanted to do and there was nothing that was going to stop her. Well, that was until she felt Jason’s had on her back. She ignored it at first and didn’t turn to look at him until his hands moved to her shoulders and he started to pull at her gently. She turned to look at him, but she didn’t let her eyes meet his until Jason’s hand pulled her chin up. God, why couldn’t she just tell him to leave her alone in her misery?

She listened to him, willing her tears back even more since he had now seen that she was obviously crying but it didn’t work out too well. Her mind had problem’s comprehending what he was saying, her head was a blur and she just wanted to get out of there, but then ’I never stopped loving you’ came out as clear as a bell and Kate’s eyes opened a little wider. Did she hear him correctly? She must have because she soon felt the soft caress of his hand on her cheek, and then he wiped away her tears before leaning in and pressing his lips to hers. The feel of his lips against hers was amazing, and before Kate could even say anything to Jason she was wrapping her arms around his neck, pushing up on the tips of her toes and kissing him back. “I love you so much, Jason,” Kate said after pulling back for a moment, but as soon as the words were out her mouth was on his again and it was deepening the kiss.

Seeing the tears on Kate's face affected Jason more than he thought they would. But then again, it had always broken his heart when she cried. It rarely happened, he rarely saw her cry. The time that's most prominent in his memory was at the airport when she left to go to Providence. She had cried and cried, and just held onto him, refusing to let go until she absolutely had to. The memory of that broke Jason's heart, he hated it so much when she cried. And then for awhile, when they talked on the phone, her voice would crack as she told him she missed him, and she'd cry on the phone. That broke his heart even more, because he couldn't hold her when she cried on the phone. So he should have known that Kate's tears would affect him. He was in love with her, so of course he hated seeing her cry.

When Kate finally looked up at him after he nudged her chin up with his hand, Jason saw the rejection and the hurt in her eyes, and he kicked himself. He was such an idiot, he should have told her right away that he loved her too. But instead, he waited to let his brain comprehend the words that she said, and now Kate was crying and thinking that he didn't want her. Which was absolutely not the truth. Jason finally told her how he felt, and then kissed her, and he sighed against her lips in relief when she returned his kiss, her arms wrapping around his neck. He was almost worried that he had lost his chance to be with her, but he should have known better.

Thoughts were running through Jason's head faster than he could comprehend any of them. Kate loved him. She had broken up with her boyfriend to be with him. They could be together again. The happiness that he felt was more than anything he ever thought possible. Jason's arms wrapped tightly around Kate's waist and he pulled her right against him, smiling at her as she pulled away to tell him again that she loved him. Jason went to reply, but before he could get anything out she was kissing him again. His arms tightened around her waist and he kissed her deeper than he had in such a long time, the reality of the situation hitting him pretty hard. She was his Kate again. Finally breaking the kiss again, Jason rested his forehead against hers, his eyes still closed. "I love you, Kate. I'm never letting you go again ... I thought I'd lost you for good," he said softly, one of his hands moving up to caress her cheek.

Kate’s mind was reeling just as much as Jason’s with everything hitting her at once. She had gone to thinking she would never be able to be with Jason again, to him not loving her anymore to suddenly being in his arms again and kissing him. He was no longer with Nicole, Kate was no longer with Jamie and the two of them could, after an entire year of being apart, be together again. Kate’s heart was soaring, and she couldn’t keep her mouth off of Jason’s for longer then a few seconds. She grinned against his lips as his arms went around her and pulled her closer to him. It felt so good to have her body pressed against his again, and not have to have any guilt or extra baggage behind it. Kate was just so glad that she had the courage to drive over here at 2 in the morning to tell Jason how she felt, and it made her feel amazing that Jason still loved her back.

Once the two of them parted and their foreheads were touching, Kate kept her eyes closed and leaned up a bit to press kisses on Jason’s cheeks as he spoke. Her arms that were wrapped around his neck slid down and touched either side of his face. The feel of his lips, skin, warmth of his body and just being able to be close to Jason again felt extremely new, and familiar at the same time. She marvelled in being able to be so close to him that she could breathe him in, hear him breathing and press her lips to his with just a slight move of her head. “You could never lose me,” Kate said, though it came out in nearly a whisper. Now that Kate’s emotions were so high, the words and feelings kept on pouring out. “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, Jason. Being apart from you nearly killed me, and I am so sorry for giving up on us before. It hurt so much, and I don’t know what I was thinking. I am so sorry, I love you and it will never happen again.”

Kate’s lips were on Jason’s again and she quickly kicked off the one shoe that she had managed to get on in her mad dash to get out of Jason’s apartment. Now that she was kisses Jason again and had his arms around her she never wanted to leave. One of her arms wrapped around his body while the other one slid up into his hair. His messy bed head hair that Kate absolutely loved and missed and couldn’t get enough of. Her kisses turned more passionate and almost frantic like she was trying to make up for lost time between the two of them. It had been a year since Kate could kiss Jason like this, and now that she was with him again she didn’t know how she survived that entire time without him.

Smiling against her lips, Jason was glad that Kate had driven over to his apartment to talk to him as well. He was happier than he'd been in a long time ... over a year ... and it was all because of the amazing woman in his arms. He never thought that he'd feel this way about someone, that he'd love someone so completely, but he felt that way about Kate. She meant everything to him, still, and he wouldn't change the way he felt about her for anything.

Kate's kisses on his cheeks made him smile, and he lifted one of his hands up to tangle into her hair, gently moving his fingertips over her scalp. Kate knew exactly where to kiss him, how to kiss him, and the many other things that you can only learn after being with someone for such a long time. Jason still knew all of Kate's spots too, he'd never forget them. Shaking his head as she apologized, Jason gave her a smile. His hands moved to cup her cheeks again, the pads of his thumbs moving slowly back and forth over her skin. He was getting rid of the evidence of her tears, and he smiled at her. "You don't have to apologize, Kate. The past is the past, and you're here now," he told her, leaning in to press a soft kiss to her lips. "That's all that matters," he added before kissing her again.

They kept kissing each other, their hands refamiliarizing themselves with each other. Jason's hands were roaming over her arms, her torso, her back, and in her hair. And Kate's hands were moving all over him as well. He noticed when Kate's kisses increased in passion, and he gave her that passion right back. He kissed her like his life depended on it, his arms moving to wrap tightly around her waist again. After a year, you'd think that they would have forgotten each other and the way they liked to be kissed, but Jason didn't forget a single thing. His lips molded perfectly to hers, and after a few more moments he pulled away and just pulled her body to his in a tight hug, leaning down to bury his face into her neck. "God, I missed you so much," he told her, grateful that she was back in his arms, where he was sure she belonged.

It was amazing that after a year the two of them still knew exactly where and how to kiss and touch each other. Their lips moved together perfectly, and their hands explored each other’s bodies as they held on to each other tightly. Kate couldn’t get over how much she loved being in Jason’s arms, and feeling his hands run across her skin and body. She looked right at him as his hands cupped her cheeks and the pads of this thumbs moved across her skin. She let one of her hands touch his wrist while the other one reached up to touch Jason’s face as she smiled back at him. God she loved his smile. “I will never leave you. I will never let you go,” Kate breathed before she started kissing him again. She knew that was a pretty big thing to say to someone, but right now that was exactly how she felt. She didn’t ever want to have to go without Jason again.

The two of them continued kissing and Kate let her hands explore Jason’s entire upper body. They can up and down his back, across his shoulders, along his neck, down his arms, around his sides and even over his back side. She marvelled when Jason’s kisses increased with intensity as hers did, and she felt all of the emotion he was putting in behind it. When Jason pulled away and pulled her into a hug, Kate hugged him back, wrapping her arms around him and letting her face burry into his neck as well. Her heart was already racing and her breath was coming out in hard breaths on his neck but she didn’t care. “I missed you, too.” Kate murmured against his neck. She then pressed her lips there, pulling away slightly to let her mouth trail along his jaw and down his neck and to his throat. “I missed you so much, Jason. It hurt so much to be away from you, to not be able to touch you or feel you touching me,” Kate said.

She then pulled away from him so that she could take off her sweater, which was a bit bulky, tossing it to the floor and revealing the button up polo t-shirt that she had worn to Jamie’s dinner. Kate’s arms were around Jason again in a second, and her lips instantly pressed against his. She deepened the kiss right away and pressed her body right against his again. One of her hands slid into his hair while the other one explored his body again, though this time the touches were a bit harder and rougher. She grabbed at his shirt sometimes and attempted to pull the two of them even closer together.

Jason smiled against her lips after she stated that she'd never let him go, and hw pulled her tighter against him. He knew that she meant what she said, and he also knew that she knew he felt the same way. Jason never wanted to be without her again, not now that she was his girl again. She meant so much to him, and the time he spent away from her killed him. Jason didn't want to think about the possibility of geetting back together with her, because he didn't think his heart could take it if it didnt' happen. And now that it was happening, Jason's heart was beating faster than it ever had, and he just had this insane surge of affection for the girl in his arms.

Her words made him smile, and he nodded his head. "I know. It was hell," he said, tucking some hair behind her ear. "But as much as you want to blame yourself for everything that happened, it's my fault too," he told her, his thumb moving over her skin. "I should have told you about my plans to come to Providence. Then none of this would have happened. I just wanted to surprise you so badly, and then everything happened and I couldn't bring myself to tell you," he trailed off, then shrugged. "I did look you up when I got here. But you were happy, and I didn't want to impose on your happiness and be the crazy ex-boyfriend that didn't know how to let go," he told her softly, swallowing. "But none of that matters now, because you're here now, and I love you so much," he told her, resting his forehead against hers.

Watching Kate pull off her sweater, Jason smiled. It had been a year, and Kate had filled out a little more. She was more curvy, and a little taller, and still the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. Jason smirked against her lips as she threw herself right back at him, kissing im again, and his arms pulled her right against his chest. Her hands were in his hair, and her lips were on his while her other hand ran over his body, pulling at his shirt. Jason swooped one arm down and caught her behind both her knees, lifting her up into his arms and carrying her with him to the couch. He sat down and pulled her into his lap, his hand running over her legs. He pulled away after a moment and smiled up at her. "You're still so beautiful," he told her, his hand moving into her hair again.

Kate grinned when he tucked some hair behind her ear. It was such a simple action, but she loved it when it did it. Whenever Jason did small affectionate things like that to Kate it always managed to calm her down, and it always felt amazing. “I was only happy because I talked myself into being happy,” Kate told Jason. “And I was the crazy ex girlfriend who didn’t know how to let you go. I hated Nicole as soon as I found out she was dating you,” Kate admitted. It was sad because Kate and Nicole would of gotten along well, they did get along well, until boys got in the way. Kate knew that she would hate anyone who got in the way of her being able to be with Jason. “But I don’t care about her now, and I don’t care about what could have been done because I’m yours now, and you are mine.”

Right when Jason took Kate from behind her knees she let out a bit of a gasp and then grinned at Jason as he took her to the couch. Once she was on his lap she shifted her body so that she was straddling him, her legs on either side of Jason, loving the feeling of his hands on her legs. She ran a hand through her hair and just looked at Jason for a moment, and then smiled at him when he said she was still beautiful. “And you are still incredibly sexy,” Kate said with a grin, running a hand through his messy hair before she leaned in and pressed her lips to his neck. Kate used her thumb to tilt Jason’s head up a bit as her mouth ran along his neck, letting her teeth graze his skin before she found his lips again. “And amazing, and I am so, so, so in love with you,” Kate murmured against his lips in between their kisses.

Kate’s hands ran all over Jason’s chest, into his hair and over his shoulders. She gave his bottom lip a playful nip before her mouth went to his neck again and her hands started playing with the hem of his t-shirt. Kate couldn’t take her hands or her mouth off of Jason, and she certainly didn’t want to. Her lips went to his near lobe, pressing kisses along his skin there before letting her lips graze over his ear as she spoke. “Will you let me touch you now?” Kate teased, her fingers slipping under the hem of his shirt and running along his bare skin. Kate desperately wanted to feel Jason’s bare skin again, among other things that she wanted to feel pressed up against her.
