Public - from 904
I've never had to do this before I don't have any idea what to say I'm not interesting Hi neighbors. What? Neighbors? I'm not Mister Rogers

Hey everyone. My name's Elijah - or Eli if you want, most people call me that - and I just moved into the building. Do people actually use this forum thing or no? It seems like a cool idea. But anyway, I'm sorry if the traditional 'moving in' noises are annoying. No one seems to be on the ninth floor so it's pretty quiet up here? I don't have much stuff anyway so it didn't take me long to get situated. I've been hearing horror stories about the elevator but so far it's worked fine for me. And apparently a girl was beaten in the park nearby? No way I can tell my dad that. He'd make me come home faster than a stupid meme moves on the internet

I'm a native Californian so I didn't move here from any strange exotic land, I'm taking community college classes, and I hope to study Astronomy someday. And the song 'California Gurls' just sucks, sorry, but it's true. That's probably all boring, isn't it? I don't have a car so I'm a big advocate for public transportation. I don't even have my license so But I'd really rather hear about you so I'll just stop typing. Uh

Thanks for reading.

Hello Elijah,

Xander told me you'd be moving in. I hope all is well and we should get together soon for some coffee and pie.

Best to you,

Honey Skye

Hey Honey I feel so awkward calling you that and I know it's your name but, how are you? I would really like to get together, actually. I don't think I've ever had coffee before I know you guys are busy so I can work around you.

Eli,

I am well. Eager to see how Xander's favorite cousin is. I am not at all too busy to get together. I know Xander might be out late for business. Would you mind if I drop in? Although you might not think it, I am handy with a hammer.

Honey

Oh, I'm still his favorite? Good to know. He's still my favorite too.

You actually want to come here what holy shit No, I wouldn't mind at all. It's kind of a mess because I'm still unpacking and stuff but as long as you don't mind that? I definitely wouldn't have pegged you as good at hammering that sounds wrong but you do seem like the type that's good at everything, so.

Perhaps this will seem a touch rude, but do you prefer to be called Elijah or Eli? Experience says that just because most people call you something doesn't mean that's what you like to be called.

No, it's totally fine. No one's asked before I prefer Eli, but it's nice of you to ask. What's your name? I'd hate to just call you 705.

Then welcome, Eli. My name's Brighid, but 705 will work in a pinch! I dunno if you consider Northern Ireland strange or exotic, but that's where I'm from. And I'm also learning to be a fan of public transit as I've yet to acquire a vehicle here in the States.

Thanks for the welcome, Brighid. I consider Northern Ireland exotic but definitely not strange. Astronomers from Queen's University helped discover about 10 new planets back in 2008, so that was way cool. I really want to go to Armagh Planetarium someday. What brings you to the States?

The public transit system here is pretty good. I don't think you'd even need a car, but I guess it depends on how often you travel.

The Planetarium is grand. You should definitely visit sometime. And I'm from Belfast, so I'm also familiar with Queen's. Actually, I came to American for school. I got my Leaving Certificate and decided it was time for a change of scenery, so now here I am!

I'm beginning to think an auto might be a good idea, as much as I'm not fond of driving. It's quite a ride to campus and back each day.

It's definitely on my to do list which is really way too long for someone my age but whatever. It's definitely a change of scenery, that's for sure. The US of A is pretty freaking huge too.

At least you can do your homework on the train and stuff?

...I really like your name.

And the elevator isn't too bad! I've had good luck with it, which is good because I live on the tenth floor and I would hate to have to take those stairs every single day!

Uhm... I'm Emma! Hi!

My name? Why? Is that a joke or something? ....thank you?

It's a long way up. But it's good to know that the elevator hasn't turned on everyone yet. Hopefully it will continue to behave for us.

Hi Emma. Nice to meet you. I'm Eli but I guess you already know that.

A stargazer, are you?

I love the stars, I do, but...

I must say my favourite is the biggest of them all, though it's not a star at all. I just love the moon.

Yeah, I'm definitely a stargazer. It's a hobby, I guess.

Why do you love the moon?

Mmm. What other hobbies do you have?

I just... I mean, it's there. It's bright, it hangs in the sky, and even though it's not as bright as the sun, it's still breathtaking. I think it just says that you don't have to be hot and huge and blinding in order to be...

Well. Beautiful.

...Ah! I rambled! I'm so sorry!

None, really I...like to read?

Hot and huge and blinding. That's a way to put it, I guess. What? The moon is important too. Without it, the Earth would shrivel up and die.

It's okay. Not like I have anything better to do

Hi, Eli! I'm Linnaea, but most call me Naea, and I reside in 603 with my boyfriend (who seems to have all sorts of issues with the elevator). Welcome! Hope to see you around.

P.S. Yes. That song sucks ass.

Nice to meet you, Linnaea. Is Naea okay or do only special people get to call you that?

Naea works just fine. Generally, the only people who refer to me as 'Linnaea' are either really mad at me, school administration or utility companies.

P.S. Might melt your brains, though.

Well, I'm none of the above so I guess Naea should be okay. How do you like it here so far? It seems pretty nice. Maybe I'll change my mind in a month or so but the first few hours have been great!

So far, so good. It's a nice place to be, reasonably quiet and there haven't been any domestic disputes that have required police as of yet, so that's always a bonus. For me, it's close to school and work so I don't have to worry about getting a car anytime soon. I like to think you'll enjoy it.

Bands or genres? If you mean genres, then EBM, NDH, good Gothic stuff, experimental... idk, I'll listen to damn near anything. Always looking for good female vocalists, too. Got anything like Otep or Lesbians on Ecstasy?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]somnum_dormire

Genre is good to know because then I can narrow it down by band. Right now I really am into E.S. Posthumus's new-ish album. There's not a song on there that sucks, no lie. If you like the cinematic style Immediate Music is good too, and I have a lot of them.

Orphan Hate and Flowing Tears are kind of like Otep, have you heard them? I have a bunch of those too. The lead singer of Orphan Hate had me fooled at first. Seriously thought that was a dude.

ES Posthumus, great choice. I'll look into the others. If I can't find anything in my usual places, I'm pilfering your collection. Maybe I'll have a few albums/tracks I can give you in return.

Alright, no problem. My collection's always ready to be pilfered. I don't mind sharing, learned that way back in kindergarten and all. How about Rasputina? If you have any of them, we can always trade.

Definitely. Everything from Thanks For the Ether to Cabin Fever, and Marilyn Manson's remix of 'Transylvanian Concubine'. (Better than the album version, if you ask me.) I might have Sister Kinderhook lying around, too, but I haven't ripped it yet.
