To those of you who still don't have beds, if you've been having trouble sleeping I'm sure that we can start building hammocks for you or something. It's looking like everybody might get one eventually? I don't want to assume but they're coming in waves, it's weird.

I also feel like we should start trying to do more little stuff to show the gods and goddesses we appreciate what they're doing for us. I'm kind of coming up with a blank for suggestions though... I'm not usually the guy who comes up with the ideas. Any suggestions? They don't seem like he kind who would be too thrilled with sacrifice so I think it's safe to say that's off the table.

Except for the scary one. He'd probably be up for it.

You're probably frustrated today. I'm sorry. You don't have to respond, I just wanted to let you know that I left something for you by the waterfall a little north of us. It's kind of awful and it's the third one I tried to make since I saw you and I know you probably can't use it and I know it's stupid I just thought you'd like it, maybe. You don't have to take it if you don't want to.

MALIA.
I think the gods gave me these prenatal vitamins, I found them. I want you to start taking them, okay? They'll be good for you and the baby. How are you feeling? I wanted to know if you would be up for seeing one of the doctors, just for a check up. I've been talking to them but I don't want to make any solid plans until I know if you'd prefer a male or a female doctor.

I'm going to start cooking in about half an hour, unless that's too early. I'm really looking forward to

Finnick would maybe be a good person to talk to about hammocks. He gave me his when he got a bed, so he knows how to make them.

I know, he's amazing at it. But I don't want to be like, hey Finnick, make hammocks for people. I'm not really the sort of guy to give orders and he's probably already spreading himself thin as it is, so I can probably figure it out if I have to.

I might reach out to him and see if he has the time, but right now I think I got it. It's not too complex, it's just a series of knotting and my brother taught me that stuff before he when I was a kid.

Frustrated may be more harsh a word than I would have chosen, but disheartened, perhaps. You are all working very hard, of course you will be tired and with fatigue can come unhappiness. I have come to expect some level of that, in any case. That is very sweet of you, of course I will take it. You need not make me gifts, you owe me nothing, my son. But if you wish to, then I will always cherish them.

Hammocks would probably be easier than building loft beds and using wool from the sheep to stuff blankets Briseis is making to make mattresses. I tried to learn how from Finnick, but I only made a mess of it.

Well, we could all start with quitting all the fucking bickering over the dumbest bullshit ever, Jesus fuck, it's literally paradise and people are still bitching about everything under the sun.

Then again, it seems like whenever people bitch about not having something that might be useful to have, it magically shows up, so...maybe instead of crucifying each other for having mismatched opinions, we should pay the fuck attention a little more to our surround I think the gods would probably appreciate more if everyone could just calm down and get along for even a single day than they would appreciate anything else, but that's just my opinion.

That's what I was thinking. And it's alright, putting something like a hammock in your hands is pretty much giving a dog a chisel and expecting to come back to a replica of David, Derek. It's awful. But damn it, the dog tried.

You're preaching to the choir, but I still think we should do little things. I don't know. We take advantage here, a lot.

Yeah well I don't think people here really care much about the gods which is so shitty but we'll get there. We're going to have to figure it out sooner or later, if they start making it rain again we'll have a lot of time to sit inside and think about it. And not much, apparently, hammock fail.

...Okay, don't get mad. It's not like, a date or anything, because I know - okay, I don't know what we're doing but I know that we're keeping it low profile, whatever it is, so it's just kind of a thing that I'm taking you to, but I was speaking to that guy, Ray. And he's got this insanely awesome... science suit thing that I'm sure you'll think is a lot more amazing than me and I asked him if he would be up just showing it off to you a bit.

I just know that you don't have any books here or anything and I'm sure you're going a little stir crazy without any scientific stimulation, so I thought that maybe taking the time to study some tech that you've never seen before might help get your mind off things and entertain you? If you want. Only if you want, obviously.

Yeah, I can help make hammocks for anyone who wants one. I think I offered before but didn't have any takers other than Derek and Lynne. Not everyone finds it easy to sleep in one if you're not used to it.

But yes, if you want a hammock let me know.

Thanks, Finnick. I didn't want to ask you because I wasn't sure what else you had on your plate and I didn't want to bother you if you were busy, but it would be awesome if you could teach me how to make one? I've been fixing up a lot of the shelters and I'm thinking of just installing hammocks in them by default so everybody from this point on has the option of one, what do you think?

Don't worry about it. None of my side projects are that important, and one of them is almost done anyway. I can teach you if you're interested, it's really just a matter of weaving, like basic basket making techniques on a larger scale.

OK, I might regret saying this because It's not really any of my business, but don't you think you've been spreading yourself a little thin? You shouldn't feel like you have to fix up every shelter yourself. There are other people who can help with that stuff so you don't run yourself into the ground.

But yeah, I could easily make a hammock for every new arrival. It wouldn't be that hard.

...Yeah no, you're probably right, if I'm being honest. I just like to feel useful, that's all. I like to make sure I'm doing everything I can around here, so I'll work on the medical center and during my breaks I'll go around and check places, make sure that everything is alright... I don't know. I just like being useful, I can't really stop.
