Moving to the country, going to eat a lot of peaches...

Who: Claire and OPEN
When: Noon
Where: Thalia's Dinner

Although she liked the ship and wasn't too averse to the passengers, Claire was already sick of the library. She wanted to be back in Boston, or maybe settling in at New York Public. The idea that she was basically stuck on a ship didn't hit her until that morning and she was only a little scared at the idea of being stuck in the elevators after last night. Now, she wasn't completely claustrophobic but sometimes she would start to hyperventilate if she didn't get out of a particularly small space or crowded room.

Claire loved the sun and probably would have been out in it right now if she wasn't so horribly pale and prone to sunburn. It happened so easily it was hard for her to spend extended amounts of time in the sun. So she settled for cheery and adorable Thalia's Dinner, sitting at the bar in front of a half eaten burger and a cup of tea, watching the people mill around and recognizing very few of them.

And my affection, well it comes and goes. I need direction to perfection.

Who: Delia and Flint
When: 6:30PM
Where: Arete Deck

After spending more than half the day in her room, pointedly ignoring the envelopes stuffed with the evidence of her father's doing, Delia decided to move her work outside. She was sick of staring at the walls of her room and only catching the occasional whiff of salty sea air that blew into her room. Delia had always loved the ocean, so calm and still, yet at the same time angry and dangerous. She loved the duality of it, how it could love you one moment and hate you the next.

Gathering up her things, slipping on a hat and sunglasses, Delia took to the ship. There was a slight aversion to the Sun deck, Delia chose this time to find a bench along Arete Deck and make herself comfortable. At the last moment she scooped up the disgusting images, unsure what she was going to do with them but at the same time, tired of trying to pretend they weren't real.

She settled on a bench facing the ever fading sun and took one long breath before slipping the photos out. Delia could feel her stomach twist and her eyes burn as she flipped through them, shoving them aside when she couldn't take anymore. Her phone rang and her laptop flashed messages at her. Shutting them both off, Delia crossed her legs and closed her eyes behind her sunglasses, letting the sun radiate through her.

Why are you even near the spatulas?!

Who: Kass and Jude
When: Lunchtime
Where: Circean Delight Kitchens
Rating: Language

Despite her quickness to leap upon any mistake, Kass was usually pleased enough to simply nod and let a chef move on by without comment, if she felt they had done well enough. This morning? No, not so much. In a rare mood, even for her, of a dark cloud over her head thanks to subverted plans from the night before, thanks to the blackout, Kass was pretty much hissing and growling at any who dared cross her path. She'd been promised a night with great potential for naughty fun, but had been quite disappointed with the turn out on that particular round of drinks.

Kass never did handle disappointment all that well.

So it was not with any pleased expression that she spotted an intruder in her territory. Instead it was with narrowed blue eyes, glinting like chips of ice, that she began moving towards the blonde man, "What do you think you're doing here?"

TIME UPDATE

DATE: Monday, December 28, 2009.

WEATHER: Warm and sunny! Wow! What a change!

EVENTS: At 2:30 in the morning, the power finally comes back on. Many apologies are made from the crew, and later in the morning every passenger has a voucher for free dinner at any restaurant.

There are several nighttime events to choose from today. At 7 PM is a poker tournament at Tyche's Favor. Ossa is repeating its 90s theme night, since things were cut short yesterday. But if the 90s aren't vintage enough for you, Cult of Dionysus is celebrating the Roaring 20s. They're really going all out for this theme night, complete with jazz music, swing dancing, and the entire staff dressed in styles of the late 20s. The party goes on til closing time at 1 AM. Luckily staff and passengers were given an itinerary of on-ship events several weeks ago, so people had advance warning in case they wanted to pack costumes.

It is still okay to finish scenes from the last gameday. Contact a mod if you have anything you feel should be listed in this or future time updates.

Holding

Who: Finn and Helena
Where: Helena's room
When: After the elevators release

Helena was worried this time. Her father hadn't shown up and while it was wonderful to get a shower and rid herself of any sort of smells of anything but sweet, innocent baby girl, afterwards, it just made her wonder what happened to her dad. Was he alright? Was he hurt? Was he out looking for her because she wasn't in her room when the power went off? Either way, she ended up laying on her bed, not sleeping, head against the pillows, blankets drawn up and Sundance beside her. "He'll be home soon." she kept saying aloud though she wasn't sure how much it would convince her.

When the door clicked open, she breathed a sigh of relief and called out for her father. "Daddy?"

I hate this boat

Who: Slav and Gor
When: Night, after the elevator incident
Where: The room they share

By the time he got out of the stupid elevator, Gor was ready to explode. He honestly surprised himself with even having the ability to coherently find his way back to his room, taking the stairs of course. Fuck elevators. If he never saw another one for the rest of his life, it would be too soon. Entering the room he shared with Slav, he slammed the door, pushed himself back against it and slid down to the ground. "I hate this s-s-stupid b-b-boat." he cried. Of course that was a total understatement. Hate wasn't strong enough a word for how he felt about the boat. About the elevators and about the girl and Crocodile Dundee. "I'm never riding in an el-el-elevator again."

Who: Eddie and Lizzy
When: Lunch time
Where: Eurycleia's Cafe

So far Lizzy's day had been fruitful: Wake up, coffee, breakfast, coffee, wander, coffee, awkward conversation, more coffee. Now her stomach was telling her it was the time for the lunch portion of her day's festivities. Lucky for her, her wanderings had just happened to bring her upon Eurycleia's Cafe just as the rumblings in her stomach were starting to get annoying. Doubly lucky, while the cafe was busy this time of day, there just happened to be one nice little empty table which was just perfectly Lizzy-sized. She took her seat, looking around self-consciously at the tables around her as she noticed that they seemed to all be occupied by couples, families and other people who weren't solitary. Pity party, party of 1.

90s night for those born in the 90s

Who: Iosef and Helena
When: Let's say 8:10pm
Where: C-Deck (exterior)

Despite having liked the 90s as much as the next guy - even though he honestly didn't remember them all that much anymore - Ossa seemed to have become a bit too stuffy for Iosef's taste after a while. So, he decided to make his way down to the C-Deck and onto the exterior deck to partake in his most favorite past-time.

Once he got on the deck Iosef realized he wasn't alone, at least on that particular spot, and worst of all: There was a dog there. If humans could smell marijuana from miles away, imagine dogs. And it could easily go one of two ways: Either the dog smelled it and didn't care, or smelled it and got curious.

Sighing, Iosef leaned against the railings and, just to be polite, didn't move away from the girl (well, it also might have been because she was damn cute) with the dog. Instead, he smiled, nodded once and said "Evening."

EVENT

Shortly after ten, the elevators roar to life and resume their paths to the nearest floor. Crew members are waiting for the occupants to apologize, and offer cards for free meals and spa treatments for the remainder of the cruise! Those on staff who were trapped are also offered these bonuses.

It's absolutely okay to continue threads still-trapped in the elevators. We just wanted to give everyone else a chance to move on.

Who: Kass and Mack
When: TBA
Where: Kitchens, Circean Delight

The menus of the second night, and day, of course, while not written with quite the same outside pressure for perfection as the first night's feast, were still crafted with Kassandra's dedication and exacting standards. The same exacting standards she held both her staff, and herself to.

Even while she kept an eagle eye on each station's activity, demanding the most from each individual within the kitchen, from the commis to the saucier to her sous chef, she spent the majority of her attention on her craft. On making each dish its own melody of flavors and textures, focusing her attention on the creation aspect, making it the absolute best it could be. As the Head Chef, she would have been well within her rights to simply supervise and create the actual design of the dishes they served without once touching the stove during the dinner rush. It held no appeal, in all honesty, she preferred being quite hands on, although it sucked up the majority of each of her days.

The garde manger, the chef in charge of 'cold food presentation,' as in salads and hors d'ouevres, wasn't paying enough attention for all of one moment, and tripped, dropping a tray of prepared blue cheese, dried cranberry and walnut bedecked salads, unintentionally tossing a wave of green all over the floor nearby.

Take a Deep Breath

Who: Danny and Delia

Who: Jakob and Leto
When: Shortly after 8:15pm
Where: Heading to Circean Delight

Levon had not been particularly thrilled when the lights went out. There had been a lot of screaming, actually. Leto had taken him out into the hall, only to hear that people were heading to Circean Delight. This was not high on Leto's list of priorities, but if it meant calming Levon down, that was what she was going to do.

The stairs had not been fun. Anyone who had ever said the stairs were the healthier alternative had never had to descend four flights of them with a screaming toddler on their hip. By the time she reached C Deck, she had just managed to calm him down (she was pretty sure he was at the point where he found the red lights fascinating), and then just like that, he was content as could be. Leto sighed heavily, and resisted the urge to just plunk down right there on the floor in the hallway. The things you put me through, my love... she thought, slowing her pace as she headed to the restaurant.

And then Levon spoke up, rather loudly, with clear amazement in his voice. "Look, Momma! A giant!"

[info]takeitoutonme

this does not bode well.

Who: Chad and Keane
Where: Somewhere on C Deck
When: 9pm abouts

Res and Keane could be resourceful little bastards, given enough time and no other options available to them. For instance, they'd made friends with one of the girls in housekeeping who had graciously looked the other way while they nicked a few replacement bottles of booze for the minibars. That had improved the night significantly. But it still left the small matter of food. Keane, being utterly true to form, had refused to let Res drink with painkillers and no food in her system.

Which meant, if Keane didn't watch a crutch shoved up his ass -- and he didn't -- it was back to being errand bitch. So off to Circean Delight he went, ever the faithful companion, sidekick, and oh yes-- lapdog.

GET ME OUT! GET ME OUT NOW!

Who: Nayan, Morgan, Brooklyn
When: 8:15PM
Where: the fucking elevator
What: pure unadulterated panic/repressed homicidal rage

Nayan had a second to be surprised when the lights blinked out and plunged the three elevator occupants into total darkness. Then the elevator - for one horrible, heart-stopping fraction of an instant - dropped. Nayan was thrown back against the hand rail and his heart shot to his throat faster than the elevator toward the bottom of the shaft and for a terrible moment of weightless shock his mind blanked...

And then the automatic safeties activated and with a terrific shriek of metal, the tiny box slammed to a stop, throwing everyone to the floor. Or at least he thought so. Nayan couldn't see anything, just heard the startled noises from the two other people in the elevator as they hit the ground or the sidewalls. The elevator bobbled on its cable a moment, locked stationary, and all but the sound of fast breathing was silent. Then the dim yellow glow of the emergency lights flickered on.

There were two women - no, one girl, one woman - in the elevator with him. He hadn't paid any attention to them prior to this moment; he'd been on his phone again but now he sat up quickly and moved toward the younger girl, to check she was alright.

"Is everyone okay?" Nayan asked, quickly. "Anybody hurt?"
