Third Floor/Roof
At two in the morning, all was peaceful on the grounds of the Xavier Institute. Children were snug in their beds, adults had long since turned off their bedside lamps and put books aside; tomorrow was a school day after all. All over the campus, closed circuit security cameras searched for anything out of the ordinary. These cameras were linked to an image recognition software, really high tech stuff. If anything out of the ordinary crossed in front of them, any squirrel too large, and bug too quick, people would know. But the funny thing with technology was that, no matter how smart it go, living beings would always find a way to be smarter.
If anyone were to look at the security footage being automatically logged and archived they would see a peaceful winter night. They wouldn't see the footprints left in the snow by intruders. The gate was untouched, rendering the call box unnecessary. This mixed lot of humans and mutants knew what they were doing. They'd been planning for a long time and this was not going to go wrong. It couldn't.
A teleporter with a wide range and enough power to transport New York City to Hong Kong volunteered quickly. She hated what she'd become when the cure wore off, hated it more than what she was before. Like the other mutants in the varied group, she believed mutants needed to be eradicated, herself included. If Mother Nature had a chance to start over, she'd be sure to do it right this time. Mutants were like the one-legged baby a mother had because genetics got screwed up somewhere. Take care of the problem, and it had less of a chance of it happening again.
The teleporter gathered a small army around her, then they were sinking through the snow covered sidewalk. The floor inside of the mansion opened up and they shot up through it. There was no sound, thanks to a dampener mutant. There was no sound anywhere on the first floor and the group moved and split up. By the front door, a young girl nodded and took her hand away from the wall, away from a security box. It blinked, went crazy, then went completely blank. She informed them they had fifteen minutes before the security system would be back online and all hell would break loose.
The sound dampener crouched to put his hand to the ground. His eyes closed in concentration. Through the vibrations in the building her could hear, without sound, where every person was, where they were going and what they were doing. Weeks of careful training had him attuned to the vibrations of his team. They were the only ones that moved. He looked at a man standing by the teleporter and shook his head. This man nodded before motioning down one side of the mansion, then the other. He held up two fingers, pointed up, then closed a fist in front of his face.
They came spilling from the stairwell like ants, silent and black into the floors above. Humans in dark camo carrying weapons of every different kinds. Mutants with a plethora of abilities, some looking like the humans they fought with, some with noticeable mutations. This was a suicide mission and everyone there knew it. No one was under any allusions of going home when the night was done. They came to die, and to take as many mutants with them as possible. Xavier's was only the first in a long line of targets. How this ended would determine how future missions went.
