Third Floor/Roof
At two in the morning, all was peaceful on the grounds of the Xavier Institute. Children were snug in their beds, adults had long since turned off their bedside lamps and put books aside; tomorrow was a school day after all. All over the campus, closed circuit security cameras searched for anything out of the ordinary. These cameras were linked to an image recognition software, really high tech stuff. If anything out of the ordinary crossed in front of them, any squirrel too large, and bug too quick, people would know. But the funny thing with technology was that, no matter how smart it go, living beings would always find a way to be smarter.

If anyone were to look at the security footage being automatically logged and archived they would see a peaceful winter night. They wouldn't see the footprints left in the snow by intruders. The gate was untouched, rendering the call box unnecessary. This mixed lot of humans and mutants knew what they were doing. They'd been planning for a long time and this was not going to go wrong. It couldn't.

A teleporter with a wide range and enough power to transport New York City to Hong Kong volunteered quickly. She hated what she'd become when the cure wore off, hated it more than what she was before. Like the other mutants in the varied group, she believed mutants needed to be eradicated, herself included. If Mother Nature had a chance to start over, she'd be sure to do it right this time. Mutants were like the one-legged baby a mother had because genetics got screwed up somewhere. Take care of the problem, and it had less of a chance of it happening again.

The teleporter gathered a small army around her, then they were sinking through the snow covered sidewalk. The floor inside of the mansion opened up and they shot up through it. There was no sound, thanks to a dampener mutant. There was no sound anywhere on the first floor and the group moved and split up. By the front door, a young girl nodded and took her hand away from the wall, away from a security box. It blinked, went crazy, then went completely blank. She informed them they had fifteen minutes before the security system would be back online and all hell would break loose.

The sound dampener crouched to put his hand to the ground. His eyes closed in concentration. Through the vibrations in the building her could hear, without sound, where every person was, where they were going and what they were doing. Weeks of careful training had him attuned to the vibrations of his team. They were the only ones that moved. He looked at a man standing by the teleporter and shook his head. This man nodded before motioning down one side of the mansion, then the other. He held up two fingers, pointed up, then closed a fist in front of his face.

They came spilling from the stairwell like ants, silent and black into the floors above. Humans in dark camo carrying weapons of every different kinds. Mutants with a plethora of abilities, some looking like the humans they fought with, some with noticeable mutations. This was a suicide mission and everyone there knew it. No one was under any allusions of going home when the night was done. They came to die, and to take as many mutants with them as possible. Xavier's was only the first in a long line of targets. How this ended would determine how future missions went.

"Oh hosanna! Rufio's come to my rescue!" Wade cried out as he caught sight of Rogue's magnetic manipulation of the other woman's sword. He flinched as the sword flew passed his head and into Rogue's outstretched hands. Something down below stirred at the sight of Rogue spinning the swords like she knew what those overgrown toothpicks were for. "Well slather me in butter and eat me like a biscuit! Wait... did I use that southern phrase right? Alton Brown better not have lead me down the wrong path."

"ARRRGH!" Came the cry of the enemy still behind Wade. He turned just as she threw the punch and the spun to the inside of the attack. The fist danced just passed his jaw and his hand, still holding the blade, shot up. The point dragged across the woman's carotid artery, blood spurting forth. A moment of panic crossed the woman's face as she grasped at her neck. "Hey Mikey! I think she likes it! Nothing like trying to stop a monsoon with just your meat hooks huh?"

Deadpool spun his body again, bringing him directly in front of the resurrection machine. "Much cooler code name than Alfreda, bee tee dubs." The merc muttered and he slammed his foot straight into the girls chest. "Right between the twins! Triple word score!" The power of the blow threw the girl back and she tumbled for sometime. Her body teetered on the edge of the stairwell before gravity made the evil mutant its bitch. With a feeble cry the attacker tumbled end over end down the stairs. "In the immortal words of Kimberly Hart, 'Have a nice trip! See ya next fall!'" Deadpool gave the falling woman the finger.

"Welllll, this is awkward." The merc with a mouth began as he came around to face Rogue, "Here I am, in your debt for the assist and I represent Anna Paquin's firm and blemish free derrière. Can you say Conflict of Interest?" His head quirked to one side. "You can't? Sound it out with me now, 'Taaaaaaaaaaaaaakeeeee MMmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeee Nnoooooooowww, Waaaaaaaaddddeee'" Deadpool gave a bemused little chortle and shrugged. "Well, Shoooooot. I've never been one to turn down the request of a foxy lady with swords."

While Deadpool played with the female mutant, Rogue used her new weapons to take some some of the humans who were playing with guns. It was alarmingly easy to move and use the swords, almost feeling like a choreographed dance. One man down, another, then a woman. She was starting to have as much blood on herself as those who were now lying in pools of it. One of the humans, she couldn't tell it if was a man or a woman, took a shot at Rogue before trying to run down the hall. In turn, Rogue threw both of her swords. They found their mark in the human's back and she fell to the floor with a wet thud.

Turning, she saw the female mutant go tumbling down the steps. As the unfamiliar mutant before her spoke, a look of confusion crossed her face. "Who the hell are you?" The question came from genuine curiosity, from the part of Rogue that still had control. her attention drawn behind him, she grabbed him and told him to duck. She flung out her hand and sent a ball of ice into the face of another human. He crashed into it with full force, then fell to the floor, unconscious.

"Listen, whoever you are, you head up to the roof. I haven't seen anybody go up there but I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't more of 'em up there." She winked at him. "Nice moves, by the way."

"GULP! Be still my beating pigs heart! A woman who knows how to tango and order me around? Looks like sitting on Santa's lap twice as long this year really paid off!" Deadpool chirped as he looked up at Rogue and then to the mutant who had taken an ice facial. "Still can't poo right though." Wade muttered to himself more than anyone else.

"The roof? The roof?! The roof is on fire?!" Deadpool jumped back to his feet and rolled his shoulders in a shrug. "You got it sugar pants." The merc called back to Rogue and he started off down the hall again. He had to find the exit to the roof and while he searched, he continued singing "We don't need no water, let the mutha fucka burn!"

Shaking her head and not bothering to hide her amusement, Rogue watched him go before making her way downstairs. Paige passed her and she turned only quick enough to see the blonde heading up on the roof as well. Good. if things were taken care of on the floors below, she 's be up on the roof in no time as well.
